61. Are they also divesting from investors in China & Syria?
Zvi   (06.28.07)
62. Divest from Divestors
Shaka   (06.28.07)
All those blatant Anti-Semites should be place on a list and called to task by divesting any of their financial interests. Since the Jews control the financings in the world (Sarcasm) these haters will get a taste of their own medicine where it hurts that purse. Jesus is turning in his grave or is it turning on the cross after hearing people divesting from his people. . . shame on them.
63. to #32 joseph sahab
Jerred   (06.28.07)
You are conciously lying. You know that nobody gave us our land, but we conquered it back with our blood, DESPITE many attempts to stop us by the west. You know very well that 60% of the Jewish population originates from arab countries, from which they were expelled to Israel without mercy. Lastly, you know very well that the Jew was, and will always be ready to shake the hand of his neighbour, IF and when the neighbour will understand that force won't help him.
64. NT & Xy Depend On Superseding=Invalidating Judaism
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (06.28.07)
There is no *possible* way that Xy can avoid being misojudaic. Given that, Xn misojudaism is all a matter of degree by varying elements of Xy and the inevitable, inexorable, expression. PS: the most popular Israeli Jewish newspaper not publishing candlelighting times on Yom Shishi in its on-line counterpart is a disservice to Jewish readers and a disgrace to Israel. Even ha-Aretz publishes candlelighting times on Yom Shishi. Paqid Yirmeyahu Israeli Orthodox Jew Advancing Logic as Halakhic Authority Welcoming Jews & non-Jews www.netzarim.co.il
65. Why do the nations RAGE
John ,   USA   (06.28.07)
From the falling of G-ds dislike and hatred for idolatry on sinai/ sinah, the nations have taken this hatred to Israel and their G-d. let each man examine who and what he worships.
66. 64 - what about bashing & insulting christians?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.28.07)
...from practitioners of judaism like YOU? it's evil to be antisemitic, but ok to hate christians. hypocrite.
67. Divestment is efficient
Raphael ,   Netanya   (06.28.07)
Prince Al Waleed is a major partner in a new luxury hotel in Tel Aviv. The palestinian investment fund coached by the late Yossi Ginossar invested in israeli high tech and real estate. These methodist bigot pedophiles want to display more jew hate than the Arabs themselves.
68. To # 40
Marty ,   USA   (06.28.07)
"While church tradition has taught that Judaism has been superseded by Christianity as the "new Israel," . That my friend is a direct definition of replacement theology. When G-d states in Genesis 12:3 that those who curse Israel will be cursed, he means it. G-D does not make mistakes. G-D does not replace. The land was promised to the Israelites and the fundamentalists get it.
69. to all, like our vulcan friend (64), berating all christians
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.28.07)
while thinking about it, i'd like to explain something about certain christians. take my wife, for example - she lived here almost her entire life and experienced what all arabs experience from jews. no big deal, that's life for arabs here. BECAUSE of her love for jesus and her belief in what the bible says, she loves jews. in fact, as i've said before, she has childhood friends who have forsaken her because she refuses to speak anything but good about jews. she has family members that have distanced themselves from her for the same reason. does she have jews to embrace her in return? not always. she does not love jews because she has benefitted or has reason from experience? NO. she loves jews because this is what being a christian is 100%. the same goes for me. and, by the way, she could never in a million years understand the complexities and nuances of "rational" excursions - that is of no interest to her in the least. all she knows is that she loves jesus because of what he has done in her life and, as a result, she loves even those who treat her like crap. and she loves them from her heart, as opposed to those who sit comfortably within their clique of society and lazily condemn and criticize those who are different because they are different. i find that those who know the least tend to have more to say on this subject.
70. Another holocau$t
Mannstein ,   USA   (06.28.07)
Abe Foxman is definitely falling down on the job. He forgot to mention that another holocau$t is just around the corner shold the divestment proposal go through.
71. Mike, The G-d of Jesus loves your wife.
Mike ,   USA   (06.28.07)
This is difficult for post Nicene Christianity to sometimes understand, that G-d has always forgiven man, it was GUILT of the transgression that his had=nded down (conscience). The influence some of the mystery type religions and godmen doctrines had on the Jesus movement, was devistating. It is similar to the dfiference between those who would worship the face of Moses as opposed to those who worship his G-d, or those who worship the bush, instead of G-d. Because my wife is part Maliseet, who had various understandings of gods (whom they loved), mean that those gods are the same as my G-d, as much as they love? Does this mean I am bashing them? If the question would arise, and I respond, does this mean I now say that their god is the True G-d, knowing G-d will punish/ discipline me for it? If they do all kinds of good things in the world, does this mean they are serving the true G-d, and evidence is in all the good things they do for their gods? Not all things allowed are G-d ordained. From the falling of the understanding of this sin (in the first command) from sinai to man, some suffer just for being associated with the true G-d (not to be confused with punishment for not worshipping). The righteous suffer, the unrighteous are punished. Christians generally (for the most part) worship the flesh and blood of the man, or the person, they think he is a sacrifice replacement for the Tanach sacrifices even though this is a VIOLATION of it (Holy Word does not say this). Some peole place some in an impossible situation. If I do not speak for G-d, I will be do my punishment, and if I do, I receive the suffering. I choose G-d always.
72. The Methodist Church
Terrence Pangburn ,   Holden, ME America   (06.28.07)
Obviously, the Methodist Church has not been reading the King James version of the Bible. If they did, they should realize that statements like their most present one concerning Israel is in stark contrast to God's plan for Israel. How a church can support a nation that prefers death to living escapes me. I am absolutely ashamed of an American church that would take such a stand. Obviously they are misguided. "Much learning has made them mad"'
73. Blessed or Cursed
Oggie ,   C A N A D A   (06.28.07)
Ok it is said: Who blesses Israel will be blessed and he who curses will be cursed. It is very simple and it is true. By the way it is written in the same book all Christians read. Maybe they don’t read it anymore but are reading the news papers and watching too much of TV. G-d bless Israel.
74. Israel
Judith A. Franqui ,   Gray, TN, USA   (06.28.07)
I don't understand these churches. Don't they read what Paul said about God and His eternal promises? History shows that Israel belongs to God and his children the Jews. Israel is NOT occupying land that belongs to 'palestinians' that are really just Arabs. Pray for the peach of Jerusalem! ...and read the Bible!
75. UMC "divestment"
Barbara ,   Sunbury, USA   (06.28.07)
I am a United Methodist pastor from the USA. And I want to stand tall IN SUPPORT of Israel. God's Word demands that we uphold Israel as God's chosen people. Whether or not we agree with Israel's ways and policies is not a factor. ISRAEL IS GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE, AND THOSE WHO ARE AGAINST HER WILL BE JUDGED ACCORDINGLY! May God Bless God's Chosen People!
76. Methodist divestment from Israel
Rifkah ,   Los Angeles, U.S.A.   (06.28.07)
If this strategy of divestment from Israel is supposed to accomplish two goals, i.e., a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East, then it is a fantasy. Neither Fatah nor Hamas has been interested in sustaining any kind of "peace" in the past including truces arranged and concluded by both parties and Israel. They show no evidence of changing now. As for the "just" characteristic, one need only examine the barbarism with which they treat each other to predict how "justly" they will deal with Jews.
77. DENIED
Paul ,   Austin, USA   (06.28.07)
Please. Divestment from an anti-semitic state is hardly anti-semitic. The ADL needs to focus on non-zionist, Jewish issues if they expect to remain relevant much longer.
78. Don't over-react, USA completely biased toward Israel.

79. Mike (#66 & #69), Must Have Forgotten He Wrote... (8th attem
Paqid 16 Netzarim ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (06.28.07)
What I wrote is logically unavoidable. Dependence on supersession of a mutually exclusive entity requires the invalidation of the antecedent entity. Mike wrote (2007.04.19): "Rabbinic judaism is what is outside of god's redemption. rabbinic judaism is a clever attempt to redefine THE torah in a way that tries to make believe, hocus pocus, that torah is being kept. sure, with some mental gymnastics and sleight of hand you can stretch it, but, please. the torah is clear about what it says, and rabbinic judaism is something altogether contrary to what it clearly says." Mike's own statement proves the truth of my previous message. By contrast, Mike clearly assumes that it's evil to state documented, proven logical facts about Christianity but, Mike has proven by his own writing, that he thinks it's ok for a goy Christian -- which he has self-admitted -- to declare "rabbinic judaism is what is outside of god's redemption." THAT identifies the hypocrite! Christians who subordinate their own legitimacy (by renouncing supersession) to support Israel and Jews are meritorious in the extreme. Logically, however, they need to analyze the implications. 80. 79 - spock: logical to tell PART of the facts?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.28.07)
what i wrote was in response to your unending attacks on my faith. i enjoy a debate as much as anyone but you drag it down to the mud every time there is an article that involves christianity. bash without reason, just because you love to bash christians. and i like the way i suddenly have authority when i state the fundamental fact of christianity: jesus is the ONLY way to the father. you were a supposed preacher, surely you know i'm not saying anything new or surprising. by the way, are you documenting everything i say? that's quite touching and downright obsessive. but then again, that says more about you than it says about me. try to get a life - mine's taken and you're not my type.
81. Marty #68
Charles B. Hall ,   Bronx, NY, USA   (06.28.07)
You did not read past the first line. The United Methodist Church stated quite clearly that they DISAGREE with that "replacement theology" tradition! Other "mainline" protestant churches such as the United Church of Christ also explictly reject replacement theology. By comparison, the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest evangelical church in the United States, in a pamphlet distributed to missionaries who are trying to convert Jews, writes, "Jesus is the only way of salvation." While there may be evangelicals who do reject replacement theology, claiming that they all do is clearly a lie. And claiming that the "mainline" churches support it is also a lie. If you want to support Christian attempts to convert Jews, at least be honest in what you are about.
82.  RE69. to all, like our vulcan friend (64),berating all chr
Roy Galut ,   Selah Washington USA   (06.28.07)
Good post - Many folks see Christians as trying to convert others against thier will....Yes sharing ones faith is extremly important but its never to be forced. Christ taught us to love our enemies even when they abuse us ... it is hard for some to see beyond the bitterness of an rocket attack that may have killed amember of thier family or the palistinian that had thier home blown up by a retalitory attack by the israelis....Christ teaches us to reach out to each other to heal these kind of wounds... that what he did when he died on that cross ( he forgave those who put him there)
83. Methodists bordering anti-semitism
amram ben yaakov ,   germany   (06.28.07)
Methodic borderliners with a boring anti-semitism... who cares? they should contact their local non-orthodox psychiatrist, and ask for prozac plus some dose of levitra or viagra. helps in 73% of cases like these

85. Methodist Church bordering antisemitism
Marcelo ,   Buenos Aires   (06.28.07)
I´d suggest the United Methodist Church that the sums disinvested from Israel should be invested in the production of electricity and water for the Gazans (in that case, please contact Hamas), so as to free Israel from doing so inspite of not occupying Gaza anymore since Sept. 2005 and having received as a signal of gratitude more than 2000 Kassam missiles in that same period. Perhaps you could teach the Gazans the benefits of working and studying to raise their state instead of learning the arts of war and hatred against Israel since they are six years old.

87. Did Yeshua sometimes make mistakes?
John ,   USA   (06.29.07)
I think He probably did. For instance look at Matt. 8:21-22; "To another he said, 'Follow me,' but the man replied, 'Let me go and bury my father first.' Jesus said 'Leave the dead to bury their dead; you must go and announce the kingdom of G-d'" To me this is a somewhat troubling statement, a violation of 5th command.....unless of course the father was an older parent, and Yeshua was talking about letting the community take care of him. But even in this it is troubling. Of course if He was saying to the man to become a Nazarite, then he would be forbidden from burrying next of kin (Num 6:6-7). Of course a haber would be forbidden to burry the dead . But this is still troubling to me because Yeshua would be telling him to leave his father for other people to burry (halactically)? I don't think this is one of the best things that He could have said. Did Yeshua really require to be apart of the Yeshua movement of fellowship to leave his elderly father for others to take care of? Of course we do not know what his father actually might have said to him.
88. Blockbuster video??????
Ilana ,   galut   (06.29.07)
Now I've heard it all. Blockbuster Video is also named on the list for divestment. Why? Because it has ''appeal'' to the ''Israelis'' and will therefore make it more diffucult to ethnically cleanse Jews from ''Palestinian land''. The severe wave of nausea I've just had prevents me from continuing this tb.............
89. Mike, there is something not right in the cookie jar
John   (06.29.07)
Any nut that archives messages from talkbacks is to be treated very carefully. This 'guy' is not kosher by any legitimate Orthodox Jewish group. If this guy represents the dead Jew from 2000 years ago and Torah, he's dreaming and there is the special Jerusalem syndrome that he may need care for.
