1. Breiman: Palestinians will fight for their Rights
Hani ,   Palestine Vagabond   (08.14.07)
Nobody gives you your rights. Palestinians learned that a long time ago. Do not insult our desire for freedom and dignity!
2. How true. Thank you Mr. Breiman
Howard K ,   NYC   (08.14.07)
Nothing more to add. The picture, when put together as on this column, is one that is beyond any logical explanation. This government is obviously not representing the interests of the population. To anyone with a clear and patriotic vision their behavior is nothing less than treasonous. Will someone step up and DO SOMETHING and save the country? New elections are needed NOW.

Palestinian ,   Gaza   (08.14.07)
If I were a Jew I will choose carefully between 2 choices 1-try to find a brilliant solution to make a good relations with neighbors that I could not change them at all 2-try to fight them with a war (and there is no winner in it) So Mr. Writer if I were you I will pry to have Israel and Palestine both of them safe and have a good life
15. What's wrong with this author !! Wake up !
simon ,   Palestine   (08.14.07)
Man, wake up... This article is OMG ! I can't describe it... Just tell me.. i can't see the point.. u r making Israel with all that power look like the victim and Palestinians are the dominant...I donno why do u keep saying that the westbank is the heart of your land... West Bank is a Palestinian land ok ! Why don't you suggest kickin us out and throwin us in the sea so that some settlers would go and live there ... That in non-sense, Stop saying that you are givin us 100% ok cuz even if we get 100% of the west bank it is only 20% of the whole land... Man don't be so selfish... be satisfied with 80% and give us something of this 20% anywayz u r taking half of this 20% by the way... For God's sake.. be logical...if u don't want to...ok keep denying us and our existence all what u do this way is closing your eyes from reality ok !!! We are reality we won't vanish anyways.. if u don't satisfy Palestinians with this 20% and give them a state on it... you won't ever have security and that what was happening till today..So yeah give them something so that u live in Peace on your 80% ... and don't make it look like you are givin us the whole world please...

Moshe Feiglin ,   Karnei Shomron   (08.14.07)
20. Palestinians just need to wait it out
Hilda ,   US   (08.14.07)
That's exactly what Nr Bush is counting on. The Jews will make the Palestinian state, pay for it with their money, toil and blood and the Palestinians just need to sit tight and take it over.
21. 1, 10, 14 conveniently forget history
Tell the truth ,   USA   (08.14.07)
By claiming that they have only ever been the victims, the Palestinian respondents forget that Israel fought existential wars against far larger Arab forces in 1948, 1967 and 1973, who overtly stated the desire to annihilate them. Meanwhile, in 1973, Moshe Dayan chose not to extend Israel's control further into Jordan -despite internal pressure to deploy further, to more strategic security assets - in order to indicate to the Palestinians that Israelis were NOT trying to landgrab, but rather, were taking over the minimum possible land granted to Jordan in the 50s, in order to emphasize Israel's focus on SECURITY. At the end of all and prior to these wars, Israel agreed to the land-for-peace concept and all Arabs in the region continuously rejected it. Now Palestinians wave around the flag of 'occupation' conveniently forgetting that the PLO was founded in 1964, three years prior to Israel's defensive entrance into Gaza, Judea and Samaria. They forget that they made NO CLAIM to ownership of any of these areas when they were owned by Egypt and Jordan - their cry for self-determination is selectively anti-Jewish. They also forgot that Gaza and WB were NOT asked back by either by Egypt nor Jordan as land concessions during peace talks, suggesting a de facto cession of that land to Israel. WHY such phenomena in history? PLO Military Operations Department, Zuhair Muhsin explained it best in a 1977 interview, when he said "The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the State of Israel for Arab unity. In reality, today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of Palestinian people, since the Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct Palestinian people to oppose Zionism."
22. I am a palestinian and I am not in a hurry
MOhamed ,   Ejerusalem Palestine   (08.14.07)
Because the establishment of an entity called israel within our region that acts as a military base for the americans and is in fact the last example of colonization not to mention its racist policies ( no jew, no passport) make it a plan that will fail on its own...You can not steal a country make millions refugees and suffer and expect to live in peace and forever. Israel will eventually disappear and a new state will be born where jews christian and muslim will live in peace together. statistics shows it.
23. To #15, "ok"?
Hamburger ,   Hamburg   (08.14.07)
First of all, from your "20% vs. 80%" speach it is clear that you don't recognize Israel's right to exist. And since that's the case, who the hell are you to even take part in this discussion? Second - what's with all the "ok"'s? Are you under heavy influence of the teacher from South Park? And third - learn to write, for G-d's sake, learn to write!!
24. Thje Familiar Lies and Distortions of the Radical Right
Eyal ,   Jerusalem   (08.14.07)
What ugly lies and distortions! The IDF "attacked" two Jewish families in Hebron? Another vile attempt to equate the IDF with the Gestapo or the SS. And when you complain about the crime and lack of security in Israel..do you consider how many brigades we have to waste on providing security for the Hebron settlers and others who repay the IDF for their hard work by regularly spitting and harrassing them? The West Bank and Gaza are home to MILLIONS of Palestinians. Call them Judea and Samaria until you are blue in the face, but HOW are you going to hold on to these territories without creating an Arab majority in one state? The right wing has NO ANSWERS for this. Just lies, distortions, and messianic fantasies. 2 states, for two people. This is the only realistic solution and everyone except for the fanatics knows it.
25. #21 - Just an observation
I. Schreiber   (08.14.07)
Regarding the demand for Palestine that didn't exist before 1967... It is characteristic for Muslim activists to make outrageous demands. They are always pushing the envelope. Whether they do it as Palestinians, or as new immigrants in the West. It works in two ways, simultaneously. First there is this tactic: They push for something rather small, as if it were a most natural need, and when they get it, they push for something further. And so they advance. Then, and at the same time, the most extremists make their outrageous demands. Right now it may be something like the recognition of Sharia law alongside Western laws within Europe and North America, or even the establishment of a world-wide caliphate. If a majority in the West rejects a demand as too outrageous, the demand remains subdued, with only quiet support among their own. But if the West shows any support, as it did for a second Palestinian state in addition to Jordan, then such outrageous demands becomes part of the everyday language for all Muslims. It has become accepted, it has become a "normal" demand. So the West is complicit with every advance that the Muslim world makes in the West, and will be complicit with their eventual domination of large parts of the West (such as Eurabia). Had there not been such antipathy for Israel within the West, both from the Left and the Rightwingers, Israel's control and annexation of the territories would have become an accepted fact, as it should have been, considering that it was 1) reconquered Jewish land; and 2) reconquered as a result of a defensive war. So the Palestinian demand for a country of their own and eventually their "recognized" demand for all of Israel is part of a war against the Jews on the part of the Muslim world allied with the West, including the USA. Muslims militants often act like spoiled children. They play on the West's sense of guilt for colonialism, and they play on the West's never ending anti-Jewish feelings. So now the Muslims and the West work in tandem for the destruction of Israel. And now they have complete psychological and political control of the Leftist elite minority that dictates the terms for the future of the Jews of Israel, as this column clearly shows. Someone has to have the guts to stop this process before it reaches its real objective: the complete destruction of the state of Israel. So yes, will someone take charge NOW?
26. Government and media manipulation
Canadian Otter   (08.14.07)
There is a determined movement to act in defiance of the selling out of Israel, but as Haaretz recently acknowledged, the media wants to defuse it by ignoring it. So they are deliberately not reporting on it. A permanent presence of Jews in "vacated" Homesh is now a reality. "For almost a month, the destroyed northern Samaria town of Homesh has been populated by Jews, mostly young activists. Meals are cooked on campfires, a Sefer Torah (Torah Scroll) is at the site and activists perform their own guard duty," according to the Homesh First movement. The activists keep watch not only for terrorists, but for Israeli security forces sent intermittantly to attempt to evict them from the place. This group needs volunteers. Let's hope that more and more Israelis join a movement against any more surrender of land. (For more information, call 052-630-2222). The Homesh First group has also established a Knesset lobbying group, which will help lend them official legitimacy. (Israel National News - Newsbriefs) So obviously there is a spark of active nationalism in Israel right now, and it should be supported by everyone not involved in the government's plan to shrink Israel. It should also be said that the PR war against the settlers, by misrepresenting them as "religious extremists", is a campaign born of out fear. The enemies within know full well that the settlers' cause is a righteous cause so they proceed to do what tyrannical and weak governments do best: demonize the enemy and divide the population. The controversies around Prof. Weiss and also the so-called insubordination by some soldiers is another example of media and government manipulation. By focusing on an old gentleman's angry words and the conscientious objection by principled soldiers, they deflected attention from the real issue: the expulsion of innocent Jews from their land.

28. The latest Peres Plan in action
Canadian Otter   (08.14.07)
I hope Mr. Breiman's column is circulated widely. Nothing could expose more clearly how the country is being dragged along a path of self-destruction. This column is an "Israeli Self-Destruction Exposed 101" - primer. Thank you Mr. Breitman. There's another column on the Jerusalem Post by Isi Leibler of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, that focuses on the current Peace Plan (or rather Israel's Dismemberment Plan). It just happens that this latest plan is the result of Peres' involvement, because it incorporates wide ranging concessions to the Palestinians which Peres submitted to Olmert immediately upon assuming office. It recommends that Israel forego the Israeli interpretation of UN Resolution 242 and accept the bitterly contested Arab-Soviet-French interpretation which demanded Israel's total withdrawal from all the territories beyond the Green Line, effectively ceding to the Palestinians 100 percent of the territories captured in 1967. A return to the 1967 lines, supposedly described by the late Abba Eban as the "Auschwitz borders," the Peres plan forfeits the April 2004 assurances provided by President George W. Bush to former premier Ariel Sharon and conclusively jettisons any meaningful concept of "defensible borders." To expedite this, Olmert capitulated on the one crucial Road Map clause which even the Quartet had hitherto refused to concede to the duplicitous Palestinian leaders. He dispensed with the requirement that the PA uproot the terrorist infrastructure as a prerequisite to further Israeli concessions. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?apage=1&cid=1186557444183&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

Petra ,   USA   (08.14.07)
man get a life! Jews out rank you in every way known to G-d and man. As your only reason for existence is this newer version of the same fanatical hatred of your cousin, the Jew, may I suggest you learn real history, real laws, and real Judaism? If you can't beat 'em join 'em. They win, you lose, always. Israel forever!
