The constitutional elasticity in debate is greater in Canada than in most countries because we have a separatist party , the Bloc quebecois sitting in Ottawa which advocates rule of law and good governance as strictly as all other parties. I mean even a separatist party must show good administration for citizens. There is a large and vibrant Lebanese community here in Windsor. Even those people that might harbour radical views are for the most part civil in public. This is the way it should be in this city. Political differences of opinion should be respected -- but that means they should also be presented in an appropriate forum and without offending other members of the community. A sign celebrating the contribution of Hezbollah might be appropriate in a private residence, or even a community centre catering to Lebanese nationals. When the Lebanese-born mayor of this city says that sign is not appropriate in Windsor, I would have to agree.
