Your TB is not related to this article were i condemn this rabbi [ ? ] but i will answer you In the same circumstances as RABIN , Z.L. did it , i will do it also . I Say : in the SAME circumstances or situation . Regarding the Jews who perished instaed of converting or so , i don't dishonor their memory . Jews remained a people not only because they were religious , but mostly because they were rejected by the other peoples , who always needed a scapegoat or a community that they could call inferior . You see today , when Jews are accepted in most places , there is an assimilation , and Jews don't remain Jewish . Look what happens in your country . My claim to Israel is only based on History , Jews have lived here thousands years ago . It's not because a god gave this country to us . I repeat it , the braves who gave their life for this country were mostly seculars or even anti religious . They did'nt do it for Israel to become a charidistan , with a bunch of religious suckers as leaders

Gilan ,   J'lem, Izzie   (08.29.07)
Dear R' Ovadiah, In the last election cycle you stated that anyone who votes for Shas is guaranteed a place in heaven, and anyone who doesn't vote for Shas is going to hell. What happens if I voted against Shas last time and I vote for Shas next time? Does the hell thing get cancelled out, or do I have to spend a government term in hell before entering Shas heaven?

From your strictness of mind and your hate towards Jews and our traditions,we conclude you are not a Jew but another enemy among us. Israel is indeed a blessed place but as everything blessed,it atracts too all possible filthies. You know, infectious insects look for cristal clean waters to put their eggs. You are an example. But Israel has purged its infections alltrough the centuries ,and will keep untill only what really belongs to her will be here in devotion and love. Having said that,I will go to your answer proper: "Neither Avraham nor Moshe commanded armies. " Well,LEE has already corrected your "mistake" in trying to "recontruct"Jewish History, which is ,by the way,the same procedure some nazis and arabs historitians have tried. You are not different of them. "The folks who left Aram Nahariam with Avraham were neither Jews nor Israelites and knew nothing about warfare, and they did not wear black coats and funny fur hats" "The Canaanites who dwelled in Egypt for an estimated 400 years and who left Egypt under the Egyptian Prince Moshe, only became "israelites" during the forty years of desert wandering and they also did not wear black coats and funny hats" First let me explain something to you: I was born Brasilian, and although I love Brasil, its lands, its people, its sun,my soul is not "brasilian".My souls belong to here,Israel. So "The Canaanites who dwelled in Egypt for an estimated 400 years "were yes Jews, following the Covenant of G'od and Avraham. Avraham was gathering the Souls G'od had chosen. Is that a fantasy? Well...there are some 15 million indiduals in the world who prove the truthness of the Jewish Souls. These individual which amount less than 0,1% of the whole humanity have contributed in good ,with their minds and riches(what make people like to burn in envy!),to the rest of the humanity and amount disproportional of their numbers. I am wrong ,sagi? Our Tanach, who you slandered,is studied by milions of peoples and our ethics became the shape of the western world in almost all of its aspects. The" Egyptian Prince Moshe" was our Jew Moshe ,who was saved from death by an egyptian princess, and became a prince to after save his People.G'od knows how to work, whether we see it or not . "That is what the Haredim should be doing today, fighting, not praying" What Haredim should be doing is none of your business. It is a Jewish question ,which only Jews have to resolv among themselves. No goym in this matter! Please, spare me of your dirty hate! I know you will not listen to me,.but keep in mind that the days of people like you in Israel are counted!
65. #64 - there you go again...
Josh   (08.29.07)
...pretending you know anything about the soul, let alone Jewishness. You have consistantly posted talkbacks that are insidious and damage the Jewsish people. Is this a goy attempting to put an ugly face on the Jews. I really don't think you are a Jew. A Jew does not demoralize and dehumanize at the speed and brutal manner which you do. If your not a goy, you are in my opinion a goy gamor. "purged its infections alltrough the centuries " The neveem and the fact that we are not occupying the Temple, would testify against this statement. There are plenty non-shabbat, theives, and un-godly people in Israel and amoung the Jews. You can hardly state the Jews are a Torah nation nor pure. Some are but there has been no purging to date. The only pure Jew someone like you would claim - is Jesus. I would like you to come out and flatly deny Jesus is your savior on this talkback so that we know you are who you say you are - a Jew. If you dont, I will assume you are not being truthful. "You do not know me, for you did not feed me when I was hungry" By the way, Sagi is a Jewish name, but since you know the Jewish soul so well, I assumed you knew that. Not!

LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.29.07)
Jews were living in Iraq for thousands of years too. Why didn't we claim those lands instead? In fact I think it would be accurate to say that from the 5th century B.C.E. there were more Jews living in Babylonia (Iraq) then have since lived in Israel. Historically, non-religiously, we have a stronger claim to Iraq then to Israel. Are you packing your bags?
67. Sagi , regarding our "friend" of the favellas
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.29.07)
Now you know it ! Keren ,this favella fleeing bipede has decided that you are not Jewish . She also decided some times ago that i was a Russian . She also decided once that the Arab market in Yeroushlaim was situated in the Western part of our Capital . So she decides on many things about what she does not know anything . I don't think that exept in stupidity she is knowing nothing

Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.29.07)
Indeed,I own farms in Brasil. And I use to provide a lot of jobs to people who lived in favelas, improving their lives as much as I could, helping them build better homes. So,you are near the facts. Do own farms in Ucrania too?

70. The Rabble,The Rabble mouthing rubbish
S Judah ,   London   (08.29.07)
Most of these talk backs are by those secular nuts who neither understand nor respect our religion. The deliberately misread, they deliberately misunderstand and they deliberately critise because it fits with their bigoted, nasty, left wing anti religious and anti mizrahi agenda. They failed before and they will fail again. The Rav is the Sage, The Rabble is they.

This so called Rabbi has now shown that he is a blatant liar......but many of us already knew that!
72. Lee , be serious
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.29.07)
Have you been here once ? Don't you know that our History is living here , not only in history books ? That on every way our kings have walked ? Did King David live in Babylonya ? Don't you see a difference ?
73. #72- Charles- King David led a Halacha State.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.29.07)
I love how when its convenient for you, you lift the Torah to support you, and when its not you just toss it to the side. King David carried a Torah scroll on him at all times. When was the last time you even picked up The Book?
74. Keren , the ignorant peasant
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.29.07)
So why did you come and pollute our air ? I think you told once that you rented a small appartement . Well for someone owing farm lands it's great . So i can only think you are lying . You have to know that when you are a liar , you need a good memory , and this you have'nt . Proof ? i told already that i'm coming from a West European country . But as you are ignorant also , you don't know that Ukraine is in East Europe .
75. #74 just to let you know...
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (08.29.07)
I do not lie,B'H.(only if I need it to survive or any other emergencial situation very grave) If it makes you feel richer and wiser diminishing others, keep this way,but you only show your own weakness and lack of intelligence. You are a very primitive and unwise being. No.I never said I rent a little apt.I've never rented anything B'H.You are indeed the dirty lier. You have no shame in lyeng because you have no morals. One who speaks on our Creator the way you speak,is pure filthy.I live in Israel in my own home ,which I inherit from my grandfather,as I live in Brasil in one of my homes. Go back to your hole, dark being!

charles ,   petach tikva   (08.29.07)
I see the tora as an history book . This history , of my people can't be denied . And that's why i talk about it , but not as a religious object . For me it was not when that i picked up the book , it was never . I'm not an hypocrite , no need for me to go to a synagogue if i do not believe . But i'm living in MY country , no more begalut as you do . I at least can contribute something , you nothing . The only thing you want to do is to impose your way of life on us .
77. Well Keren
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.29.07)
i can admit if i make an error . I was sure that you once told that you rented a small appartement . A mistake . Don't you live near , or in the old town ? BUt if i made a mistake , you were , and are an ignorant person . I had to tell you more than once that you were wrong , you even acknowledged it , that you have to learn very much . I also gave you indications where you can find interesting second hand books . Now regarding dark hole , i'm not coming out of favellas , and did not exploit poor peasants . Regarding your religious views , maybe so worthless as you are

If you read the Torah as a history book, what do you make of passages that tell of the Ten Plagues, the splitting of the sea, Moses being a Prophet who talked to G-d, the Revelation at Sinai, the Manna falling daily, the water from the rock, the clouds of glory and pillar of fire leading the people's way, the ground swallowing Korach and his crew, etc... Are all these just hallucinations of our people throughout history or are they real events? (e.g. was the Revelation just millions of people hallucinating?) Or do you do what I mentioned before, namely, pick and choose whatever suits your mood on a particular day? Finally, do you recognize that King David led a Halachic State? I realize you circumvented that point.
82. Lee
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.30.07)
Regarding king David , this is old history .Nothing to do with todays problem . Splitting of the sea : i have seen some years ago a scientific explanation , with some proofs . Very interesting and certainly more to believe than an intervention of a "god" There are certainly also scientific explanations for the other "miracles" . Moshe talking to god ? if you believe in it fine for you , i not . I take from the tora as history book , mostly if not only proven facts . There was a liberation of slavery , this is a fact , and that's also why i like Pesach . Bet Hamikdash was build in Yerouashalaim , that's a fact too , and that's why on the first possibility i had i wanted to see the Western wall [ not to pray of course ] And because of this all , + other reasons i , a secular Jewish atheist , made Alyah to be at home , while you , a religious person is begalut .
83. Charles
LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.30.07)
Do you read the Hagada on Pesach? I assume you don't because you mentioned that you are not a hypocrate. The Hagada relates all the miracles that G-d employed to release us from bondage. I assume you also think this is scientifically provable. Please offer the explanation for the killing of the first born. I watch those shows every year also, and so far even the most far fetched attempts cannot explain the 10th plague. And do you really believe hundreds of thousands of slaves (really millions) left in one mass from the Empire of the day by their own strength? Was it their Merkava tanks or their scud missiles that they hid in their shacks that saved them on the night of the Exodus? What's the scientific explanation for the Revelation? Millions claiming to have seen the voice of G-d. If millions testified in court to have seen an event, would you also cry foul? As far as King David, your comments prove my point clearly. At first, you use him to substantiate your argument: "Don't you know that our History is living here , not only in history books ? That on every way our kings have walked ? Did King David live in Babylonya?" and then, you drop him when it doesn't help to push your idealogy: "Regarding king David , this is old history .Nothing to do with todays problem" Hypocracy at its best.
84. Lee
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.30.07)
That king David walked around in Jerusalem are facts , even if they are old ones . And facts have nothing to do with ideology . The Pesach Haggadah : i read it , when assisting a Seder [ a secular one of course ] You can read something without have to believe the "Beyad chazaka" . Besides this i have also some nice Haggadoth , one of them being the Serajevo Haggadah [ fac similie of course ! ] a splendid one i found last year in a second hand book shop in Europe . But i repeat , i a secular atheist Jew made alyah , while you , a "religious" one stays always in Galut , from where you want to impose upon us your middle ages lifestyle . Now , over and out , galut jew

Just for you to know. I am a dual citizen, I have a residence in Israel in which I pay taxes on. I'm in Israel a few times a year and without a doubt I support the country more then many secular Israeli citizens that I know. I have the same legal rights as you do and my inclusion in the Nation is stamped and sealed by the government that you are so loyal to and more importantly by the G-d that you are so disloyal to. But, in trying to understand your most illogical stance, I would love to know why you care about a Jew living in galut vs. a Jew living in Israel. Why is it important for you if a Jew lives in Israel or not? Is the Land Holy to you? If you're an aetheist, that couldn't possibly be. So why is living in the Land so critical for a Jew?
86. Lee
charles ,   petach tikva   (08.30.07)
This country is historical mine , and yours also of course . For me it's history , i have explained it those days on another subject . There is nothing illogical in it , and it has nothing to do with religion . I'm loyal to people , to my ideas , but how can i be loyal to "someone ' who does not exist ?

LEE ,   NY, USA   (08.30.07)
I think we've said enough on the topic for now. Honestly, you're one of the very few atheists I've met in Israel. I've met many seculars in my life, in fact, most of my friends are secular and we debate religion and faith often. Them, as well as most other seculars I met in my life, have a minimum respect for our religion and although they might not agree on ways to live "Jewishly", they at least realize that there is a Creator above us, although we may not understand Him exactly or what He wants from us. I believe you are a minority in this respect. You seem to be utterly confident that He doesn't exist, G-d forbid. How you know this or can prove this is beyond me. And you don't seem to even leave a small space to allow for the possibility that He does. According to our historical tradition, a person with such traits is the epitome of evil and one should stay far from such a person. I pray that what's on your pen is not what's in your heart. Chatima tova and may it be His will that you should be judged with mercy.
88. Lee , Re , my last tb to you for this subject
charles ,   petachtikva   (08.30.07)
Well if i can't prove that he does'nt exist , you can't prove his existence neither . I have never seen any proof of his existence , your proofs are only written texts . I fully respect TRUE religious people , everyone is free to believe or not . Leave me out of his "mercy" . We all have seen too much of this mercy during the Shoa . I have TRUE believers in my relations , fine people , openminded and tolerant towards seculars and atheists . They can understand my reasons for not believing . There is of course a difference between them and you , they know me better than you can do . Don't pray for me , i don't need it , certainly not from strangers . I wish you , and your loved ones , all the best for the next year , and for many others to come . Sincerely
89. There's a Midrash about LaShon Harah
Akiva ,   Maaleh Adumim   (08.31.07)
In the time of Ahab, he never lost a battle because his people didn't speak Lashon Harah. Shaul HaMelech lost many battles because of Lashon Harah. The Rabbi should retire now. We need Moshiach now more than ever.
90. Lee and Charles, a conundrum.
S Judah ,   London   (08.31.07)
I would have a problem being an atheist living in Israel. The problem is this, how could I defend living in Israel? Because if I do not believe that the land was given to us by the Almighty, then we are all thieves. It’s quite clear both biblically and archeologically that the Canaanites and the many other ites etc, were here before us and it also legitimizes the claims of the Palestinians. No friends, that’s dangerous territory. I am putting in my vote for the Almighty
