I definitely believe that there are MANY different ways to educate a child that are more efficient than spanking: clearly state what your expectations are and keeping a few, clearly defined things, as forbidden. Keeping up these borders can be done in a VARIETY of ways, without resorting to spanking. Unfortunately, the less educated parents are, the sooner they resort to spanking, while others prefer to seriously talk to their children/teens, and keep them within reasonable limits of behaviour through other means. If a teen is violent, if talking to him doesn't help, you will have to take away his privileges, first of all. Then you have to constrain him from doing further violence, if necessary thorugh the social authorities or the legal system. I have seen enough children being beaten almost daily to know what the effects are. It doesn't take many beatings, until beating is the only way to reach through to that person, his brain being closed down to more subtle ways of discipline. And with few exceptions, the victim of beatings, become violent towards others himself. It doesn't mean, thougn, that if I found my kid doing drugs, I wouldn't spank myself for failing to provide a better relationship with him and so keep him safe from the dangers of bad companions... If spanking should EVER take place, it should be left for cases of REPEATED, SERIOUS CRIMES, WHEN ALL ELSE HAS BEEN TRIED AND FAILED. As a VERY LAST resort. With all due respect, I don't believe Hashem suggests us to flog our children in the schools for any minor crimes they could have committed in this environment... Clearly these young neo-nazists have grown up in an environment that is not Jewish, not knowing the real facts about nazism (as other talkbackers have stated) and never had any close and kind relationships with Jewish people... they have been truly mis-guided from an early age... and I don't think spanking them would change their attitudes. Showing them that this is clearly unacceptable, monitoring them, mentoring them, leaving little space for them to violate the rules, would be a more efficient way. The more violence we show, the more it is accepted as normal and the more it is spread. So, if you spank them, and they turn out to be stronger than you, what would you do: - )

Israeli society is steeped in violence towards 'minorities'. It is not surprising that sick behaviour like this is manifested in these confused and disturbed idiots.
