1. obama's new 'advisor'
elliot ,   usa   (09.16.07)
this failed cold warrior served president carter who gave us the ayatollahs by sellig out the shah-americas other 'ally' in the region---critics of the bushies should study the left's alternative!
2. Candidates hiring idiot advisors
Logic ,   Israel   (09.16.07)
First Fred Thomson hired Spencer Abraham, then Clinton went with Berger, and now Obama goes with Brzezinski. At least Rudi went with Poderhertz, who is probably the least dumb of all the above.
3. Brzezinski, an old foe of Israel
Imperator ,   USA   (09.16.07)
Just the mere association with the former President Carter, should have alerted Mr. Obama to seek another "elder statesman". I remember how Brzezinski would utter the word Israel as if it were some sort of acid. The upside is the Mr. Obama's chance of becoming the next US President are very remote.
4. Zbigniew Brzezinski is a Jew-hater
Steve   (09.16.07)
5. Come on professor Steinberg!
Steve   (09.16.07)
"Professor Gerald Steinberg, head of the Political Studies Department at Bar Ilan University, told Ynetnews that it was premature to draw conclusions based on the appointment." Good grief! Zbigniew Brzezinski is an unregenerate Jew-hater. So is Jimmy Carter. Who are you fooling professor?
6. it's just dumb...
Jordan ,   Washington, DC   (09.16.07)
He was Jimmy Carter's national security advisor... And we all know how well his Presidency turned out... stupid move.
7. Obama - Brzezinksi - Carter, Oh My!
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill NJ USA   (09.16.07)
If this guy gets elected, does Israel have room for 7 million American Jews?
8. Barach Hussein Obama is a fool and so is Zbig.
sk ,   USA   (09.16.07)
In no way can Zbig be taken seriously as a great thinker; in fact, he is significant in his inability to see big pictures at all, even though he has a outrageous tendency to lie about his views of the past. Zbig, despite his assertions to the contrary, had no intuitive understanding of the Soviet Union and what would bring it down. Nowadays he claims that he used Afghanistan as such a weapon; he said the opposite then. Moreover, he strongly supported arms reduction talks, failing to understand what Reagan understood intuitively: the USSR was economically weak, and arms escalation would weaken it further, as it tried to compete with what was simply a much, much more efficient and larger economy. Zbig didn't understand that while engaging communist China was a good way to cause the USSR trouble (which is why Nixon adopted that policy in the first place), China itself needed to be contained, which became more difficult when Taiwan was cast off. In other words, Zbig is the kind of "realist" who doesn't understand the enemy. But you see, those models of IR in which states are treated as billiard balls (no more different than their colors) are deficient. He has no understanding of Islam. Here's a remarkable quote that I offer only because it sounds legitimate, even tough I can't read the French to confirm it: This is from 1998. Question: Some stirred-up Moslems? But it has been said and repeated: Islamic fundamentalism represents a world menace today. "Brzezinski: Nonsense! It is said that the West had a global policy in regard to Islam. That is stupid. There isn't a global Islam. Look at Islam in a rational manner and without demagoguery or emotion. It is the leading religion of the world with 1.5 billion followers. But what is there in common among Saudi Arabian fundamentalism, moderate Morocco, Pakistan militarism, Egyptian pro-Western or Central Asian secularism? Nothing more than what unites the Christian countries." http://members.aol.com/bblum6/brz.htm No wonder he sees no need for Israel. He thinks majority-Islamic countries are just "players" in his absract little game.
9. Democratc candidates
Robert Tilden   (09.16.07)
Democrstic candidates are tainted against Israel this time. We all remember the poison wells speach from Suha Arafat that earned her a kiss from Hilary. Obama with Brzeznski is clearly willing to put Israel as a second or third rate issue. John Edwards? Hes a joke. I'd grant the senator from Delaware is a friend of Israel but his chances are slim. The Republicans on the pther side though are all clearly pro Israel except for Ron Paul who's chances of winning the nomination are a little worse than Senator Biden's on, less than 2%.
10. He Not Dumb - Just Misguided
andrew ,   miami,fl   (09.16.07)
her served as carters defence minister
11. Knowing a candidate by the company he keeps
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.16.07)
Obama chooses Brzezinski, architect of the '79 Iranian fiasco, friend of Carter, no friend of Israel. Giuliani chooses Martin Kramer, friend of Israel, Middle East scholar, critic of the Arabist bent in academia. He joins Charles Hill, and Stephen Rosen, and other heavy-hitters. Unlike Dore Gold (author of "The Fight for Jerusalem", which I recommend), I'm here, and I vote.
12. Zbigniew Brzezinski
ralphsrant1 ,   USA   (09.16.07)
If my memory serves me right and I do have attacks of senility on occasion was he not our old friend's Jimmy Carter's foreign policy advisor? I guess that clinches it if the article is true I'm not voteing for Obama. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com/
13. Another CFR,NWO hack
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.16.07)
Brezinski is the same old left wing of the globalist vulture which America has become. The right wing of this vulture advances the same anti-Israel agenda. A few thousand years ago when Israel was having trouble with her northern neighbors ,she would turn to the superpower of the day Egypt for help as an ally instead of seeking the Holy One of Israel. The God of Israel had much to say about this evil tendency. The same error is prevalent today. The rotted and broken stick America will not save Israel. 'Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because [they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! Isaiah 31;1 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him. Isaiah 36;6 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Isaiah 30;2
14. WELL, THERE YOU GO............................
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   ZION   (09.16.07)
YOU NEED KNOW MORE ABOUT OBAMA ! THAT'S IF YOU HAVE A SMALL MEASURE OF SAVY & THE CEBRAL FUNCTION OF A PLASTIC CARROT !
15. Homeland security
T.I ,   Israel   (09.16.07)
My brothers and sisters from Usa, may I have your attention please: I don't know enough about the political candidates, but if some clowns thinks that "appeasment" with the Islamists will solve the war, it's a pathetic illusion. You can't continue your ex-overlooking policy, if you want to survive- fight!, there is no other option on a table, unless one day Ibrahim hooper (general director of CAIR) will be your president which rule by Islamic law. This is not propoganda, wake up!
16. Brzezinski + Carter = Ayatollahs
Malcolm   (09.16.07)
Only an inexperienced inept fool like Obama would reach so deep into the political grave and dredge up a Brzezinski for an education on geopolitics. Carter is soon to follow. In fact the peanut farmer, who relied heavily on Brzezinski's advice, is directly responsible for the current situation with the ayatollahs. Brzezinski+Carter=Ayatollahs
17. Guliani for President.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (09.16.07)
18. A Democrat Win in 08
Norm ,   Great Neck USA   (09.16.07)
A Democratic win in 08 will inspire the next huge war. The foes of Israel think the Democrats are wussess, and they probably are. A Democrat will is war...Democrats will not resupply Israel without a huge bill of demands....Israel, make sure you have enough bullets NOW
19. "much needed debate" is new way to introduce AS agendas.
Alan ,   SA   (09.16.07)
20. "The Jewish Lobby"
Cato the Elder ,   USA   (09.16.07)
Whatever "Jewish Lobby" exists , we NEED IT. Let us not forget the billions upon billions of dollars spend by the Saudis, the Emirates to bulld schools, hire retitred US congressmen, buy chairs and departments at US universities --the list goes on and on. The so-called "Jewish Lobby" cannot begin to match the influence of the OIL LOBBY--a case in point-James Baker--US diplomat/ chief Saudi legal representative for the Saudis. What a joke !!!
21. This is the idiot who counseled Carter to let the ayatollahs
control iran. look ,   how that turned out.   (09.16.07)
22. The success story of Brezhinski and Carter
Bernard Ross ,   st. anns bay,jamaica   (09.16.07)
This aging national Security advisor, was he the one responsible for the debacle of the iran hostage "rescue"?
23. Zbig who invited Al Queida to Afghanistan
josef cohen ,   herzliya   (09.16.07)
In what world is someone considered an expert in foreign affairs, or the Middle East after they destabilize Afghanistan and invite Al Queida in. Or failed to understand the risk in destabilizing Iran by withdrawing US support. What happened to taking responsibility?
24. Barack Obama has no chance of becoming President
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (09.16.07)
Since the US is not ready to elect a black President and maybe not a woman either, the whole article is spurious!
25. obama-brezinski
elliot ,   usa   (09.16.07)
democrats are not stupid -they simply believe in appeasement even at the expense of their jewish friends who are looking more like the stupid ones! remember speaker pelosi's recent trip to damascus and the democrats' ''diplomatic'' surge''....can anyone doubt who will pay iran's price for help it will never deliver?
26. DON'T DEFAME THESE MEN
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (09.16.07)
This Ynet story says: "...they attack what they say is an overly powerful Jewish lobby..." I haven't seen the book, but I have the text of the Harvard paper, which is available as a PDF file. I just searched that for the term "Jewish lobby" AND THERE IS NOTHING !!!! IT DOES NOT APPEAR. I can't say whether it appears in their new book. Furthermore, the authors state: "The Lobby also includes prominent Christian evangelicals like Gary Bauer, Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed, and Pat Robertson, as well as Dick Armey and Tom DeLay, former majority leaders in the House of Representatives." They do state that Jewish groups have formed entities that lobby for Israel, particularly AIPAC, but there is no hint of anti-Semitism. I would strongly suggest that people get the original material and find what was actually said before making a judgment.
27. Obama and Brezinksi link ...
Jerry Johnstone ,   Houston, Texas   (09.16.07)
You all think you are worried ... I live here, and that of Obama winning anything is a nightmare to more Americans than you think. Anything out of the Carter Administration would be a disaster, and unthinkable to me. Those were the four worst years I can remember in the the last 35-40 years. I doubt that I am alone in the thought either. God Bless Israel, Jerry Johnstone
28. Demos'and Libs are anti-Israel and we better know it
Richard ,   USA   (09.16.07)
Carter, Clinton (who invited Arafat to the White House more than any other leader), Hillary (who kissed Mrs. Arafat after her public statement that Jews had poisoned Palistinian arabs) - they have all taken the Jewish voters in America for a ride. We have support in Congress, but none in any Democratic White House. Of them all, Israel's best friends have been Bush and the conservative Christians. I only wish some of my fellow Jews in the northeast would support Israel as strongly as our Christian friends in the South. Wake up. Vote for Rudy - he is a great supporter of Israel.
29. #22 Yep, he's the very same one.!! Helped the ayatollah, &
the ayatollahslapped ,   him in the face.   (09.16.07)
30. #28 I was right with you until it came to voting for Rudy.
Nope, not gonna ,   happen.!!!!!   (09.16.07)
