31. The Loonie Left never learns.
Ray ,   USA   (10.15.07)
Sure build peace by puting terrorists inside Jerusalem , Give Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California to Mexico, Give more chunks of the former Soviet Union to Russia, give Taiwon to China, split Iraq in half and half to Saudia, half to Iran.. Oh Yeah then we shall have peace. You have to be NUTS.
32. A true experience of an Indian may be of others too
bob ,   chennai   (10.15.07)
On end September this year I went to old Jerusalem with my mother who is 67 years old, who visit Israel for the first time---- with her curiosity and eager-- before that we visited a good number of holly place of the tradition of these middle -east religions,, the visits were fine other than the staring and unnecessary curiosity of the locals in some Christian and Muslim places. But the visit to old city of Jerusalem was unusal. We went to the Christian quarter after visiting the kottel (the wall of weeping according to the Christian terminology which was simply amassing in piousness and feeling full with a lot of friendly people) .while we were walking to see the tomb of Jesus Christ to the Christian quarter three teen aged boys. -- Of course speaking perfect Arabic in between them-- started teasing us from behind-- one guy was pulling my pregnant wife's pant down and the other two were hanging to my mother's sari a much respected Indian dress. They where laughing and their eyes looked like wiled beasts. When I raised my protest they turned to me one was taking a strange offensive position of a martial art and I was stunned what to do. I raised my sound from my lungs and turned to them suddenly a gentle man turned up from some where and chase the Arab boys away (This man in black pant and white shirt I saw in front of a big church in the junction of the street where Jesus' tomb is on my way back and cast my anger and protest and he declared his incapability and a dry sorry) On the way they where spilling water and trying to kick the people coming across. I was stunned and the so called tourist police station near the burial ground of Jesus was empty. I returned as a victim of a barbaric tourist centre. This kind of experience if any body had in the Arab quarter of Jerusalem will never say to divide the city. Instead take the city from barbaric. And let decent people from all over the world visit this place and enjoy the sprit of this city with out fear. Think twice for the sake of Jerusalem.
33. jerusalem solution
bear ,   zefat,israel   (10.15.07)
Beilin, don't you get tired of being the family idiot? Or maybe you are really an Ayrab! Why don't you try (at least) to be a Jew first and an idiot 2nd.
34. #21 Steve US. - Don't be so hard on Judah.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.15.07)
Almost all of us know we must somehow separate from the Arabs. Few like to face the necessity of some form of ethnic cleansing - so they imagine that some kind of territorial compromise might work, adjusting borders to get rid of at least some. It certainly sounds more acceptable than forcing them out. Involuntary population transfers are not very politically correct these days. Of course, that's exactly what the Arabs did to us. It's what the Sudanese gov't is doing in Darfur (actually, worse - they're just killing them). The Iranians are ethnically cleansing Arabs from the oil-rich territory they inhabit. Saddam Hussein moved Kurds out of oil areas as well. Going further back in time, Pakistan was formed largely in an enormous population exchange. Turks earlier expelled Greeks from mainland Turkey despite the fact that the Greeks were there before the Turks. Similarly, they "eliminated" the Armenians. Africa offers even more examples. In Europe, ethnic Germans were expelled from most Eastern European countries. Recent events in the former Yugoslavia resulted in quite a bit of ethnic cleansing. There is a degree of ethnic cleansing now taking place in Iraq although the conflict is religious & not exactly ethnic. The German "Final Solution" of Jews was widely accepted in Eastern Europe - genocide being the ultimate ethnic cleansing. Returning to our problem, I am persuaded that the ultimate goal of the Arabs is to ethnically cleans us & put an end to a Jewish state in the region. They are waging a war against our presence here - whether by military means, terrorism, or demography. This being the case, our national interest is to stop this from happening. And while we may debate exactly how, usually events on the ground create their own solutions, as they did in 1948.
35. Steve,21#, diaspora Jew, with lots of chutzpah
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (10.15.07)
Steve where were you during the last war in Lebanon? I was doing milium in Lebanon and my wife and baby were at home in a bomb shelter. So if I have an opinion about Jerusalem then at least I have earned the right to express such an opinion. By the way, if you and another million other American Jews made aliyah like I did, then Israel would not have to make any concessions for demographic purposes.
36. Example of Palestinian respect for Pal. holy sites
Gary ,   N. Jersey   (10.15.07)
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/134699 So, what do we expect them to do to Jewish holy sites once the Jews are no longer in charge? Oh, we know that already, but we keep on hoping that the bad boys have mended their ways.
37. #34 - Terry - Yours seems more like an argument
Gary ,   N. Jersey   (10.15.07)
for ethnic cleansing, although I know you didn't mean it that way. First, moving populations around has been done and will continue to be done. For their own good sometimes. Some ethnic combinations just don't have any hope of ever getting along. Second, you don't seem to have much aversion to Jewish ethnic cleansing. Already done in Gaza and, if things progress the way seculars approve of, will be done in Judea and Samaria too. And the Golan. If Olmert gets away with giving Judea and Samaria away, it's only a matter of time till him or someone else under the thumb of the American government, gives the Golan away too. Why is Jewish ethnic cleansing OK? And btw, I'm glad you are perfectly aware of the Arabs' intentions for you. So how will making concessions keep you safe? There are other solutions. There is Benny Elon's solution at http://www.therightroadtopeace.com C'mon guys, it's time to take the initiative away from Bush and Rice and the Arabs. Use your famous brains and do something creative to save your land.

Yossi Beilin is a traitor to Israel. Following him will lead to Israel's destruction.
41. #29 - Mohammed, you forgot to say "insha'llah"
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (10.15.07)
Maybe because you know, deep down in your heart, that G-d doesn't will it. Insha'llah, you will realize there never was a country called Palestine and, insha'llah, there never will be one. Insha'llah, the apartheidist, racist regimes in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria will release the Palestinians from the concentration camps they keep them in and let them live in those societies like human beings. Insha'llah, Israel's enemies will realize that they have much more to gain economically and spiritually by forging a true peace with her and recognizing the "Palestinian Cause" as the historical fallacy it truly is.
42. LEAVE JERUSALEM TO JEWS ! POOR ISLAM AND CHRISTIAN WORLD

COME TO MY LAND YOU NEED CHURCH ? GO TO VATICAN YOU WANT ME ? COME TO ISTANBUL ! I AM WAITINNNGGGGGGGGV WITH ANGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
43. #37 Gary in New Jersey - But I meant exactly that.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.15.07)
Two things may happen. The "Peace" talks fail - most likely they will fail. We will come to no agreement, Olmert's gov't. will collapse, or we are obliged to invade Gaza, or Abbas begins talks with Hamas, whatever - the whole thing comes to nothing. The result: a large scale conflict. We reach some agreement - not very likely but for the sake of argument, something comes of this. A make-believe Palestinian state is formed. Terrorism continues, Hamas seizes power in the West Bank, there is large scale arms smuggling, we detect the presence of Iranian advisers, Kassams hit Ben Gurion, or any number of other typical Palestinian behaviors. The result: a large scale conflict. In other words, the most likely result no matter what is a large scale conflict. In the meantime, we can expect greater unrest among Israeli Arabs as well as their participation in terrorist actions emenating from the West Bank. It is also likely that we will have a right-wing gov't. eventually, possibly without any left-wing parties in the coalition. As in 1948, war has a tendancy to displace populations as they flee or are driven out by combat operations.
44. Jerusalem
Neal Rothner ,   Hashmonaim, Israel   (10.15.07)
We used to go to the various arab neighborhoods, do business and eat in their restaurants and fix cars in their garages,etc.etc.... until they threw stones at us, and smashed the windows of our cars. In Anata they burned down the Coca Cola distribution center causing a loss of many arabs place of work. The arabs are again "never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity" The difference between a united Jerusalem and an untied Jerusalem is where you put the I. Neal the Hasmonian
45. But we Jews are united in our hate of beilin!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (10.15.07)
Next Jewish government and the palis are out of our Jewish and. They go by truck or body bag. But the Jewish capitol of Israel will be united and arab free.
46. to 41 the Jews have already surrendered
Mohammed   (10.15.07)
The Jews have already surrendered. You don't believe in your god. Allah rejected you long ago. You were at the height of your power and you ran to us begging for recognition. Every refugee will return home. Every Zionist will go back to Europe. Avraham Burg is right get your European passports and go home.
47. Lets divide Washington into the capital of 2 countries
zionist forever   (10.15.07)
You cannot divide base the capital city of a country based on naighborhoods. Jerusalem is a working and living city you cant simply say naighborhood 1 is jewish so it belongs to Israel naighborhood 2 is arab so belongs to palestians naighborhood 3 is jewish so belongs to Israel. A city has to be a united object . If somebody suggested make Washington DC or London capital of 2 countries by dividing it into naighborhoods the people making those proposals would be laughed out of town. You walk down one street your in Israel and subject to Israeli law but then you turn the corner and your in the palestian state and subject to their laws. Its a rediculous proposal. If the palestians want Jerusalem there is another solution... artificialy extend the border of the city outwards into the palestian state and then make an official border give them the muslim quarter of the old city and thats it Jerusalem as it is today is under Israeli soverignty and the city in the extened boundries belong to the palestians. Any other way your going to create a buracratic nightmare which will affect the residents of the city.
48. to #38. You miss the point
Richard S. ,   Miami, USA   (10.15.07)
What I wanted to point out is that UN resolutions should not always be accepted as final arbiter because of many conflicts of interest and manipulation. The UN may have voted for Partition but Israel was really won over by the Independence War in 1948 at the cost of 1% of the Jewish population. It was not "given as a gift" at "no cost" courtesy of the UN. It was earned. Sometimes UN resolutions makes sense, other times they do not. Pojnt is don't look to the UN to save everyone's butt.
49. #43 Terry - You're right on 99% of the time
Gary ,   N. Jersey   (10.15.07)
I like your no nonsense approach to issues. This time, however, there is an element that gives me the creeps and that you people should take more notice of. It's the influence of the US on Israel. It's no different than having given up your independence. And considering that with George's vision you'd be less secure than ever, what's the deal? Afraid that if you don't go along with Bush they might close the shop to any more war equipment for Israel? Or they might support a world-wide boycott and the rich boys in Israel would suffer? I really don't know why Israel doesn't slam the door on Rice's face and tells her to clean up the mess she and George made in Iraq instead, but not at Israel's expense. So that's the problem, Terry. You see things logically and think that the next Israeli government won't put up with any violence coming from Palestine and will engage in a large scale conflict. What if your brand new right wing government is told by the US to hunker down and not make trouble for the US, while they look for a peaceful end to terror with the same speed and success they are having in Darfur. I'm disgusted by the way right wing Israeli politicians seem to lose all their principles once they are in the Knesset. Something makes them change their mind and soften their approach at some point, like Sharon, Lieberman and Bibi, for example. What is it? So I don't trust the Arabs but I don't trust the Israeli politicians either. At least with the Arabs you know what to expect. You may get Bibi next time and what will he do? What if the leftist courts start giving hints that they have discovered something in his closet and that he'd rather behave and not act like a right winger so much? I'd go for safety first. Keep all your land. Do not expect to get anything back in a future war. The Arabs and Iranians are arming themselves with ever more dangerous weapons. 1967 happened once only. It was your Big Chance. I don't mean to be telling you guys what to do but the truth is that you need your independence back and a pro-Israel government, not pro-Arab. So put logic aside, Terry, and look closer at your institutions and your leaders. That's where your biggest danger lies right now. There should be no deal without new elections first. Or as a last resort, a referendum. But that could be manipulated. No deal without elections, and by then, let's hope there are other options being considered, like Benny Alon's. You've got two things in your favor right now: Arab opposition to an agreement, and time, so that bright minds can organize and promote a pro-Israel alternative.

(10.15.07)
51. UN resolutions that can't be enforced mean nothing
Sam ,   Canada   (10.15.07)
Arabs love to refer to UN resolutions because every year they get together at the UN to have an orgy of anti-Israel resolutions. They mean nothing. Nobody except themselves and the anti-semites pay attention to them.
52. Nicosia / Palestinian pseudo state
Avi ,   USA   (10.16.07)
Dividing Jerusalem would result in something that would be not unlike Nicosia in Cyprus. The city would be divided by a thin green which is dangerously close to where people live. It would be something like it is now but with a much shorter fuse. The Palestinians already live in a pseudo state as is, and it doesn't need to be revised with the latest run of talks.
53. #38 Why quote the UN if you don't understand it?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (10.16.07)
If you don't know the difference between a non-binding GA resolution and UNSC resolution, you are just being plain dishonest.
54. #46 - Mohammed, the more you talk tough...
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (10.16.07)
Mohammed, the more you and your kind talk tough and try to replace facts and logic with tired out slogans and historical fallacy, the deeper you dig your own graves. Is this all you have? Ad hominem attacks and wishful thinking? Your empty rhetoric bores me...
55. Comments to Yossi Beilin and the mope who calls himself apar
Phil ,   US   (10.16.07)
Beilin's biggest problem is that when Israel's welfare is at stake, this arrogant and narcissistic fool conveniently forgets the history of this complex and bitter struggle. He refuses to see potential problems arising from his stupid suggestions. Thus, to him, peace will come only when Israel gives up territory. That Israel gave up Gaza and was rewarded with rockets fired from this wretched terrorist enclave and the election of Hamas, a group sworn to Israel's destruction does not matter. Likewise, his solution to the Jerusalem question is simple---give it away. He does not even consider the possibility that rockets will be launched against West Jerusalem and semmingly doesn't care. Israel would be a lot better off if this pompous narcissist showed his true colors like his colleague Avram Burg and leave Israel. As far as the idiot who identifies itself as Apartheid, the creature knows a lot about apartheid because he keeps its brain segregated from his mouth. Oh yes, its conscience is also kept segregated and of no use.

57. How many Jews did YOU & Arafat murder?
Yehudah ,   Jerusalem   (10.16.07)
58. jeruslame
marcel ,   toronto   (10.16.07)
Beilin, so you sign an agreement ending the conflict with Abbas. What about Hamas and the 1000 other groups who don't accept Abbas? What do you do about it? And since has Fatah stopped terrorist incidents?
59. #53 Quoting UN
Richard S. ,   Miami, USA   (10.16.07)
Both the GA and the SC are prone to spill anti-Israel motions as if it were confetti. Only by the good grace of the US that has veto power in the SC it is not worse. Kudos too to the Mariana Islands for at least voting (with Israel and the US) against GA resolutions against Israel.
60. Jerusalem solution is simple
Frank ,   Canada   (10.16.07)
Arabs must agree that Jerusalem is a Jewish city forever. Before Oslo, Beilin and the Left told us that should the "peace" process fail, Israel will destroy Arab terror. Olso obviously failed and the Left was not able to deliver the promised goods, e.g. peace. Now, the Left must deliver the other portion of the deal and pressure Olmert for an eradication war against Arab terror. The goods must be delivered
