32. Booing Rabin
ralphsrant1 ,   USA   (11.05.07)
There was no moment of silence for Rehavam Zeevi so why is Rabin so special. All he did was give up everthing in Israel for the sake of a Nobel Peace Prize. Anyone who disagrees with Rabin is a extreameist or a drunk according to this article. By the way there needs to be a investigation into peace now Israel for the UK Goverment funds it recieves for settlement watch to spy on settlements for the British Goverment. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com/

We see that the party of 'peace now..die later' Meretz cannot do very well in in Elections, but they have the corrupt courts and the olmert family Dana, the out of country none serving in IDF sons,Olmerts wife as well as other daughter in there pockets, deep pockets due to the E.U. and NGO leftist U.N. agengy largesse

35. #26 - you are welcome to your opinion of course ..
redmiike ,   tel aviv   (11.05.07)
but would you have cheered someone that killed Hitler or Stalin? I am exaggerating of course but making a point. The majority of Israelis feel that Rabin is responsible for a great many of Israel's present problems. A great general, but like Sharon, a failed politician. The left have made a cult out of Rabin and the bulk of the country resent it. I view the protest as anti Rabin rather than pro Yigal Amir - Mike
36. good for them
lenny ,   chicago, Ill   (11.05.07)
lets face it, Rabin was a poor leader and the Oslo was a brilliant failure. If Amir did not kill him, it is hard to imagine the insane evil Rabin might have perpetrated in the name of peace. That the fans realize that Rabin was a bad prime minister is certainly with in reason and should not be censured. But those who apologize away his error because he was killed are making a travesty of history. Face it, Israel, Rabin was a terrible leader and started a movement that has caused more deaths and injuries that his preceding prime ministers.

So much for Democracy and the right of free speach. I think they should be forced to take the air out of their soccer balls. Also be made to slide on a dry grass field. Let every other team's fans pat their rear ends. The country has grown STUPID.
40. Disagreeing without being Disagreeable
Eli ,   Ranaana, ISRAEL   (11.05.07)
A long time ago I heard a speaker say, "Learning to disagree without being disagreeable" is one of the most valuable character traits. He went on to point out that being agreeable not only gives us the benefit of the good will of others, but, ironically, we more easily achieve what we are going after. We are an extremely fortunate people. Today, regardless of where you stand on political and religious Jewish issues, the Jewish people do in fact have political sovereignty of our soil. Returning to political sovereignty, after a 2,000 year expulsion, had never been achieved in human history -- until us. We are powerful, however I can't help but feel that a sorely needed missing ingredient is how we, so quickly, deteriorate into being disagreeable to each other. Eli Fendrich Ranaana P.S. Perhaps each of us, now, can consider how to disagree without being disagreeable.

Are you saying that Oslo was a success? You have a pecular idea of what success means if that's the case. And I don't have to be particularly brilliant to notice it either. What was the great achievement of Rabin's policies? That we imported a bunch of corrupt & violent terrorists as a "peace partner"? The PLO was languishing away in Tunis & we resurrected them. Real smart move. What else did we get? A violent intifada? Damage to our economy? A deterioration in our political & diplomatic situation? Now, understand, I am not demonizing Rabin. I am also not saying we have had brillant PM's since then. Unfortunately, our political system does not produce much brilliance, either on the right or left. In my opinion, Begin was the best PM even if he got suckered into our peace treaty with Egypt. Since you disagree with me, tell me more about Rabin's legacy, tell me what he achieved. Is there something I missed?
42. How sad. Amir is a threat!
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (11.05.07)
Any one that feels it's fine to assassinate one's own countryman to achieve any objective is a threat. Obviously whomever Amir disagrees with is a potential victim. If you disagree with giving away Israel to the Arabs VOTE out those that propose it. You don't kill them.
43. Appalled at these moron fans and appalled at the reaction...

Thought police, plain and simple.
44. FREEDOM OF SPEECH???!!!!!!!
Avi ,   New York, NY   (11.05.07)
45. Why Rabin is disliked/hated by so many Israelis
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (11.05.07)
In 1993, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin agreed to share Israel with the local Arab population. He agreed to recognize the PLO as the representative of the Palestinians and to allow Palestinian self-rule in the Gaza Strip and Jericho. Before Rabin's announcements there was no Palestinian people. This is why he will never be forgiven by the majority of Israelis!
46. The People Know the Truth!!

I very politely thanked you for enlightening me about Rabin's policies.....but you have very impolitely ignored my question to you, which was "Whose policies have brought 40 years of calm to the Land of Israel". Don't be shy. Please share it with us.

off the Altalena? And, also participated willingly? Rabin! Who brought in thousands of terrorist and gave them 30,000 assault rifles? Rabin! How can we honor this man!
50. So glad I live in a democracy...
Aviela ,   KochavYaakov, Israel   (11.05.07)
Wouldn't it be just awful to live in a dictatorship, mind-controlling, Bolshevik country? I'm so thankful the Jewish state is a democracy that grants civil liberties, freedom of speech...
51. Prime Minister Olmert setting Jew against Jew
Steve ,   US   (11.05.07)
Olmert has clearly identified himself with Rabin's legacy which he (Olmert) wants to futher. Former Prime Minister Rabin is directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths and maimings of thousands of innocent Jews. Should Olmert and America's evil U.S. president, George W. Bush "succeed" at Annapolis, the loss of inncent Jewish life could be staggering. Make no mistake about it, that is what this is about.
52. I am neither for the Rabin camp nor the Yigal Amir camp...
Alexander ,   Herzliya and Israel   (11.05.07)
... I am in the Israel camp. Israel, India and China are three of the oldest civilizations on earth and all three have contributed to science, culture, philosophy and religion. China has existed for more than 4000 years and therefore China is not about the Communist rule of Mao Tse Tung. In the same way, Israel has existed for 4000 years as a civilization, both inside the land of Israel and in the exile, but it has existed for 4000 years, and Yitzhak Rabin and Yigal Amir are two details and footnotes in 4000 years of Jewish history. So, please, view it all with some perspective. Second, I don't agree with Rabin's policy, but that's not a reason to kill him. It means that I do not support Rabin's policy and I do not support Yigal Amir or his followers. I follow my way - the Israeli way. Israel is the Jewish homeland and is thusly the birthplace of our magnificent civilization. We need to protect and defend our national interests and expand demographically and territorially. There is no such thing as "Palestine" or "Palestinians" in recorded human history and only the Jews have legal, moral and historical ties to Israel. Jews bought and conquered Israel both in biblical times and in modern times, so the land is ours and the Arabs should leave, in order to save Israel's existence and Israeliness/Jewishness. Israel must unite, strenghten itself demographically, territorially, economically, militarily, scientifically and technologically and consolidate its modern State of Israel with the bibilical Kingdom of Israel. We live in a modern society but we breath the air of an ancient civilization and we can walk among the ruins of King David and Solomon. So please, Israelis, see beyond party politics and the "Rabin camp" and "Yigal Amir camp".
53. sheesh
mati,10 ,   far away   (11.05.07)
Just a bunch of idiots
54. Michael #47: I'll try to answer your question
Steve ,   US   (11.05.07)
The only way there will be calm in the Land of Israel (you are not going to like my answer) is for Israel to have a leader and a people willing to return to God. This means no more "peace" deals with our sworn enemies. This means no concessions of land. This means looking to our Maker rather than to George W. Bush for our help, etc. I understand you do not wish to hear this. You would prefer to worship George W. Bush or some other foreign god. Tell me I am wrong.
55. Serving the IDF does not make an Israeli a true patriot.
Alexander ,   Herzliya and Israel   (11.05.07)
The best evidence for that is that there is a small minority of ethnic Israelis, extreme left wingers, that serve the IDF only because they have to, not because they love Israel and IDF. Ehud Barak served the IDF, gladly it seems, but that did not stop him from offering 97% of Samaria, Judea, the Old City of Jerusalem and 100% of Gaza to the Arabs. The fact that Rabin served in the IDF as an officer s of no consequence. As a politican, he was a failure and he betrayed his country and his people. I agree that it was wrong to kill him, andif Israeli citizens don't like a particular Israeli politician and/or prime minister, they simply vote him/her out. That's what you do in democracies. I feel disgusted by Rabin, Peres, Barak, Peretz and Livni, but I also feel disgusted by Yigal Amir and his followers. The way of Israel is the Israeli way, not the "Rabin way" or "Yigal Amir way". Israel: stay united, strenghten yourself demographically, territorially, militarily, scientifically, technologically and economically.
56. #54 Steve
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.05.07)
Steve, I am afraid you are wrong on two counts. First, I do not like George Bush who has only harmed mankind, in my opinion, and second, as you intuitively seemed to understand, I do not believe in spiritual beings. But I appreciate the sincerity and politeness of your reply. Thank you.
57. #55 HAS IT RIGHT
HAL TRIPP ,   LA PAZ BOLIVIA   (11.05.07)
IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH A LEADER YOU VOTE HIM OUT, YOU NEVER SPILL JEWISH BLOOD,YIGAL AMIR SHOULD PAY FOR HIS CRIME, RABIN WAS A HEROE AND LOVED ISRAEL, ISRAEL CONTINUES TO BE A BEACON FOR IT'S SMALL JEWSIH COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE JEWISH WORLD. WE ALSO CAN'T GIVE AWAY PIECES OF ISRAEL TO A BUNCH OF KILLERS.SDEROT CONTINUES TO GET ATTACKED DAILY WITH QASSAM ROCKETS, THE PEACE CONFRENCE CAN'T CONTINUE LIKE THIS,LET THESE SAVAGES WAKEUP TO REALITY,WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN , AM YISROEL CHAI

Your posts have been unusually polite as of late. I am just curious why? Usually you write as a rabid left wing extremist, with left wing extremist rhetoric. Therefore, I am slightly confused by this recent turn of events. Your TBs seem to indicate that you learned how to post TBs with some form of civility, so naturally I am confused. Please clarify how this happened. Was there some form of medication involved? Thank you.

I am assuming, like me you are a Jew? I am by no means a religious Jew. I do believe in God; our God. If you do not believe in a spiritual being, may I ask what you place your hope and your trust in? I'm glad it is not Bush. What do you see to be (for lack of a better term) the means to achieve Israel's salvation and the survival of Israel and the Jews? Where do you see this calm, this peace, you hope for coming from?
