34. Habash, hero of the Palestine Resistance
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (01.27.08)
Unlike today's great Israeli 'heros', who only need to prove their supreme bravery by pushing the 'missile release' button on their F16 from several thousand meters away from some harmless victim, George Habash was a real hero, a couragous hands on fighter and a 'gever'. He will be remembered and honoured by the future Palestine state as one of its founding fathers.

These are some of the PFLP's crimes in 40 years of existence: • 1970, the PFLP blew up a Swissair flight to Israel in midair. 47 people died, including 15 Israelis. • 1972, Japanese terrorists trained by the PFLP murdered 24 people, including 16 pilgrims from Puerto Rico, at Lod airport. • 1976, PFLP terrorists cooperated with German terrorists and hijacked an Air France jet to Entebbe, Uganda. The hostages were freed by Israel in a daring raid. • 1980, PFLP terrorists took over the children's room at Misgav Am in northern Israel, and murdered a baby, as well as the kibbutz's director. • 2000, Habash retired from active leadership of the PFLP, for health reasons. • 2001, a PFLP squad assassinated Israeli Minister Rechavam Ze'evi. • The PFLP carried out three suicide bombings between 2002 and 2004, at Karnei Shomron (3 murdered) at Geha Intersection (3 murdered) and at Shuk HaCarmel in Tel Aviv (3 murdered)

I think Abbas's show of reverence demonstrates where his true feelings are. Mr. Habash was little more than a Syrian funded front man who cared little for Palestinians in reality.

Armed attacks before 2000 The PFLP gained notoriety in the late 1960s and early 1970s for a series of armed attacks and aircraft hijackings, including on non-Israeli targets: The hijacking of an El Al flight from Rome to Lod airport in Israel on July 23, 1968. The Western media reported that the flight was targeted because the PFLP believed Israeli general Yitzhak Rabin, who was Israeli ambassador to the USA, was on board. Several individuals involved with the hijacking, including Leila Khaled deny this. The plane was diverted to Algiers, where 21 passengers and 11 crew members were held for 39 days, until August 31; Gunmen opened fire on an El Al passenger jet in Athens about to take off for New York on December 26, 1968, killing one Israeli mecanic; An attack on El Al passengers jet at Zürich airport on February 18, 1969, killing the co-pilot and wounding the pilot; The bombing of a Jerusalem supermarket on February 20, 1969, killing two Israelis and wounding twenty others; The hijacking of a TWA flight from Los Angeles to Damascus on August 29, 1969 by a PFLP cell led by Leila Khaled, who became the PFLP's most famous recruit. Two Israeli passengers were held for 44 days; Three adult Palestinians and three boys aged 14 and 15 years old threw grenades at the Israeli embassies in The Hague, Bonn and the El Al office in Brussels on the same day, September 9, 1969 with no casualties; Attack on a bus containing El Al passengers at Munich airport, killing one passenger and wounding 11 on February 10, 1970; The bombing, with a barometric pressure device, of a Swissair flight bound for Israel, killing 47, on February 21, 1970; for details see Swissair Flight 330. On September 6, 1970, the PFLP (including Leila Khaled) hijacked four passenger aircraft from Pan Am, TWA and Swissair on flights to New York from Brussels, Frankfurt and Zürich; and on September 9, 1970, hijacked a BOAC flight from Bahrain to London via Beirut. The Pan Am flight was diverted to Cairo; the TWA, Swissair and BOAC flights were diverted to Dawson's Field in Zarqa, Jordan. The TWA, Swissair and BOAC aircraft were subsequently blown up by the PFLP on September 12, in front of the world media, after all passengers had been taken off the planes. The event is significant, as it was cited as a reason to the Black September clashes between Palestinian and Jordanian forces. On December 22, 1975, the PFLP lead by Carlos the Jackal raided the OPEC office in Vienna. They assaulted the meeting of OPEC leaders and took over sixty hostages. The rebels and forty-two hostages were given an airliner and flown to Algiers. The terrorists were dispatched in Baghdad where thirty hostages were freed, the DC-9 was then flown on to Tripoli where more hostages were freed before flying back to Algiers where the remaining hostages were freed and the rebels were granted asylum. Carlos soon left Algeria for Libya and then Aden where he attended a meeting of senior PFLP officials to justify his failure to execute two senior OPEC hostages. On June 27, 1976, two PFLP and two Germans seized Air France Flight 139 and diverted it to Libya and Uganda.

During the Al-Aqsa Intifada PFLP graffiti in BethlehemThe PFLP's Abu Ali Mustapha Brigades has carried out attacks on both civilians and military targets during the Al-Aqsa Intifada. Some of these attacks are: The killing of Meir Lixenberg, councillor and head of security in four settlements, who was shot while travelling in his car in the West Bank on August 27, 2001. PFLP claimed that this was a retaliation for the killing of Abu Ali Mustafa. [4] The 21 October, 2001 assassination of Israeli Minister for Tourism Rehavam Zeevi by Hamdi Quran, the only Israeli politician to have been assassinated in the current intifada. A suicide bombing in a pizzeria in Karnei Shomron, on the West Bank on February 16, 2002, killing three Israeli settlers. [4] A suicide bombing in Ariel on March 7, 2002, which left wounded but no fatalities. A suicide bombing in a Netanya market in Israel, on May 19, 2002, killing three Israelis. This attack was also claimed by Hamas[4], but the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades have identified the perpetrator on their website as one of their members[4][5] A suicide bombing in the bus station at Geha Junction in Petah Tikva on 25 December, 2003 which killed 4 Israelis. [6] A suicide bombing in Bikat Hayerden on May 22 , 2004 , which left no fatalities. [7] A suicide bombing in the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv on November 1, 2004 , which killed 3 Israeli civilians. [8]

50. A great Loss of a great leader
Nic ,   Laguna Beach, USA   (01.27.08)
A great Palestinian leader, Dr. Habash spoke English as fluent as Arabic and was so convincing in explaining the just Palestinian cause to the West that some pro-Israel Western media including US ones even avoided forecasting whole interviews with him but rather little exempts taken off the whole context just to avoid him convincing the public of the just Palestinian cause/struggle. A great (Christian) Palestinian idol, who inspired lots of Plaestinians, Muslims and Christians, and believed in a liberated and democratic Palestine and the return of its expelled people. A great loss, but certainly a nation who brought Habash brought also or can bring many heroes like hime who take over and continue the long way of struggle towards the freedom of Palestine and its peoples.

By the way arabi from " nowhere" I'm sure he is communicating from a garbage dumpster.. but just a simple remark: Some self-loathing, turncoats and traitor jews, here and all over the world, even in Israel try to disavow Israel or accuse you for alleged crimes, etc..you get the picture, ask some democrats, hollywood 5th column, Soros & company, etc... But look at your peace partner, yeah sure! The more jews are killed, tortured or blown up and Abbas and his gang are delighted and admire the trash killers/Go to hell Habash and Co .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... .

the vote of confidence you all gave to our beloved leader: George Habash, does indeed shows how patriotic & anti Zionist the man was. trust me if tell you that Habash left, where he leave behinds thousands more followers who are derterminbd to liberate our homeland from your colonial filth. call him terrorist, killer...etc but his legacy will live on despite your ranting. may God bless your palestinian soul (From Lod, thank Ynet) Correction: it was a stroke that left him partial paralzed not your imiginary "sucessfull" attempt (lol )
58. #20 Habash was Christian, not Muslim
hans smith   (01.27.08)
kind of punches a hole in your hate-infected boat, doesn't it? Why doesn't Israel make peace with the Palestinians and the it won't have to deal with all this kind of unpleasantness? Egypt and Israel fought in the past at the cost of blood to both sides, but in general today Egyptians and Israelis don't want to kill each other. Israel and Jordan have also made peace. Israel has had more than 50 years to make peace with the Palestinians; Israel will never have peace with the Palestinians until it makes it with them.
