The majority of the Republican party firmly believes the US was founded as a Christian Nation. It's that simple. Look not at the causes they back, but the reasons they back them. All their reasoning is based on what they claim is said in the Christian version of what they call the Bible. If their were a shred of logic, and not just religious reasons, I might consider the Republican opinion on of their position, but there is nothing to argue against. They believe in a Christian Manifest Destiny and, just like the Taliban, they believe we should all fall in line with their beliefs. My beliefs, and my Jewish beliefs, do not preclude their choices. Under the Democrats, at least the current incarnation of that party, I feel I have more of a chance of maintaining my individual identity and not becoming some clone of W, of Limbaugh, of Huckabee or any of their other overly vocal mouthpieces.
