61. the real reason for such a statement
Simon ,   TA Israel   (03.30.08)
It seems these religious fantatics have serious problems controlling their sexual urges. First they attack women on buses for not sitting at the back and now they want them expelled from the army. Of course the real reason is to create an exscuse and to divert the attention away from the fact tha 75% of Ultra Orthadox men do not serve in the army . No doubt these people have no problem getting their social security checks from a female clerk. Whats next? banning women from the work place, on flights. Women should stand up for their rights.
62. # 60 Petra, heres a new take for you

Well by my accounts God made Adam and Steve ! heee heeee
63. Females in Military Service
Jay Diver ,   Maryland, U.S.   (03.30.08)
I have 21 years service in U.S. military, in units with both male and female service members. The females have always been studious and hardworking. They were there because they chose to be there. As for 'females causing caualities in front line units, because men had to protect them"........they took the training to be there.......let them protect themselves and their teammates.......just as the men do.

66. RE: Ladies, Ladies

We all agree that this is BS. There is no validity to these statements. What I want to know is why this was even turned into an article? Why do we give credit to these vapid, irrelevant statements? Why do we have articles referring to these self-appointed courts and entertaining the idea that they have any authority? Well, here it is - I am a self-appointed supreme judge of humanity, and I say Sanhedrin, give me your children! Give me your boys and girls. If you are to receive from land, you are to give to land.
67. Why is it that only one woman was killed out of 130 soldiers
Mike ,   P''T, Israel   (03.31.08)
in the last lebanon war? (note: aprox. 130) Answer: The army knows not to send woman into battle. So what is the point of having them in combat units? Although, of course there still is a role for women in the army. There is a legal section to the army, there is the intelligence, and propaganda, and PR.
68. 67 Mike: Technically, a woman medic is non-combatant even in
Rivkah   (04.01.08)
a combat unit.
69. Sacrilege! This is not the Sanhedrin, just impostors
Karen R ,   USA   (04.01.08)
Every right-wing nut case and self-promoting narcissist now feels free to steal the mantle of Torah and use it to arrogantly claim authority - and get their names and pictures in the media. When are the legitimate Torah authorities going to find the courage to denounce these impostors who sully the Torah and daily commit chillul HaShem?
70. to #10-- why don't you actually read my comment first?
keren ,   ny   (04.02.08)
So, you're saying im uneducated? Well, did I ever say in my comment that i was referring only to women in combat units? NO! I was talking about Weiss's comment about his female instructors who were 'too weak to cock the gun'. And how do you know I wasn't in the army too? I know many female instructors that do their job very well. Also, i was talking about his whole view (to take out all women from the army). Now, before you start attacking me, or anyone else for that matter, why don't you analyze what you read a little bit better because you're making a fool of yourself.

Also, I wasn't even thinking about women in combat units, but now that you brought it up.. of course men are generally more capable than women in physical tasks. However, there are some women that choose to be in these units and they work hard and won't be accepted if they're not good enough. and, a lot of combat units in the IDF don't even accept women in the first place, so why are you complaining? if the army thinks they're good enough to be in a specific unit, then let them fight and protect ..
72. Women should bring up future generations
(04.03.08)
not fight, that is mens' duty
73. To all you 'equal rights' and 'no sexist'
Jew ,   Diaspora   (04.03.08)
Women are supposed to bring up kids, and rule the house, not fight, it is mens' job to do that! Were there female soldiers for Jews in ancient times?
74. All you secular morons say
(04.03.08)
"Sanhedrin? Sanhderin are RELIGIOUS! Yuck! Equal rights for all! Defeat the evil sexist religious!" Hey, you will get your punishment from G-d! Just wait
75. Save us from intolerance
Tom ,   Yisrael   (04.04.08)
Stop the religious coercion in Israel! Save us from intolerance! Preserve our Zionist values!
76. If this Sandhedrin truly wants respect then...
Avi ,   Los Angeles, USA   (04.10.08)
They will begin by defrocking all Rabbis in Eretz Israel. You cant have a Sanhedrin paskaning and then rebellious elders pasking otherwise if they do. Its one or the other. You wish to be the Sanhedrin that once commanded the respect of our people for its dedication to Tzedek, then you have to start somewhere. If you are not going to be a Sanhedrin then dont use the name. And it starts with the downsizing of everyone with their own opinions as too how Jews should act in the land. The Sandhedrin was our one United Voice long ago. Lets do it again.
77. how about this?
outside opinion ,   CH   (02.12.09)
how about ALL THE MEN without exception join the army to defend Israel- NO EXCUSE whatsoever....regardless of religion, political affiliation, social or economic stature. That way the women could look after 'non-violent' parts of defense, like ambulances, medical and communications- would that make the men happy? Would the Sanhedrin be happy with that?

Adam ,   Eurabia ex Poland.   (02.15.09)
I kind of agree women shud be protected from uglieness of military service and war but in country like Israel with enemies within and without you can't escape the war. You can't escape Quasams or suicise bombers by being simply part of civilian populace. All Israelis men, women even kids must learn to fight. Secondly who'll replace them? Arabs, Haredim. Russians, Tel Aviv golden youths or UN forces? G-d save Israel from well meaning and naive Jews.
79. Okay can anyone tell me just where exactly
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.16.09)
it forbids women to serve in martial endeavors. First off I am not opposed to the Sanhedrin. Secondly I certainly am inclined to "Wage Peace" and thirdly I believe the Temple should be restored. However, I believe this is an article that has been either accidentally or intentionally skewed for dramatization and profit or else the Sanhedrin is trying to appeal to the "Nations" to show Jewish tradition is as sexist as the faiths of Amelek, Caesar, Edom or Yavan. Alright; as I make it a point to not brow beat people with doctrine I already acknowledge by stating "where in the Torah" I will get a multitude of example from NT literature, Koranic examples and an amalgamation of other derivatives. I don't accept those as Torah "centered" or "oriented" material; - however, I do accept those as Torah derived. Examples and comparisons from the works of the CHAZAL (N"E) the Talmud, Torah Sh'biktav, Mishna Torah, Shulchan Aruch or other sources of a Emmunim Yehudit origin. Other than that I won't entertain any postulations from the Supersession Displacement Dogmas. i.e. Devorah, Yael N"E (were warriors)
80. #55 Rikvah that post is easily the most
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.16.09)
Disturbing (and honestly intriguing) postulation and prognostication I have seen you bear thus far. I am not sure to which belief system you subscribe but, it is easily the most analogous theosophic syncretism I have witnessed to date. Never before have I seen a Dogma that relies so heavily on the centrality and prevalence of demotic demonic characteristics and attributes. This “Satan” or Sama-el which you seem so focused; is an amalgam or distorted confluence of evil deities revered “by some” but most often identified and regarded as the “summation and embodiment of evil” by peoples living in and around the Mediterranean coast and adjacent too or outside the fluctuating boundaries of ancient Israel, Judah and Shomron. I believe your elevation of this antithetical opponent to your Jesus is merely a continuation and extension of the polemic of the Persians against the B’nai Yehuddim. In short, your “Devil-being” is the recalcitrant Angra Maynu and a facsimile to the tri-natured Ahzi Dahaka of Zoroastrian ancient Parthia/Persia. I am also curious if you are in fact involved in a resurrection or semblance of “Positive Christianity” pioneered and fostered by Emile Burnouf, Houston Stewart Chamberlain and Paul de Lagarde and last seen as an advanced theology in 1930s and 40s Europe and heralded by the German National Socialist Party. If so, I would very much like to record the dictates of your congregation (for academic reasons) because I believe they could be useful in validating a thesis I am working on. I am trying to advance a theory that I call “American immersion assimilation” which I believe bi-product that’s emergence coincides with the almost exponential increase in the religiosity of Americans from the 1980s up to present and the dominance, prevalence and inundation of Dominionist/Evangelical theology and dogmatic principles/precepts throughout the broadest strata of secular and non-secular American Society.
