I am in no way justifying what this terrorist did in that Yeshiva. But the kind of extremistst like Rabbi Eliyahu and the people he represents cause us as much damage as Arab terrorism. It is against EVERYTHING Judaism is supposed to represent, and any sane Rabbi can tell you that.

Secondly, the rabbi is voicing an unfortunate, but very widely held view in Israel-namely that the lives of Israeli Jews are simply worth more than the lives of others. While this view has been stated explicitly by someone from a national/religious background, it is held by the majority (both Likud and Labor, both by the militantly religious and the militantly secular). It is clear that terror attacks of this type turn the idea of peaceful coexistence into an increasingly distant dream--a dream which is made all the more distant by doctrines of racial/religious superiority.

What pray tell should the other 99.9% of the population do were they to reverse this logic?
