As long as its them and not us?
32. #7 and #20
Invicta ,   Europa   (04.16.08)
Great idea. Himmler couldn't have put it better himself. Doesn't anyone find these sort of posts offensive and, let's admit it, infantile?
33. To # 28 this is not correct
Palestinian ,   Palestine   (04.16.08)
You left Gaza but kept border close and sky under your control ans same for sea, farther more we want palestine not Gaza only

Jane   (04.16.08)
OUR blind hatred? That, my dear Mr. Palestinian, is a Hamas specialty. It is not Israelis they hate, but Jews. Blindly, ignorantly, violently and hatefully.

Jane   (04.16.08)
No, actually it IS ethics and religion. Wasted on you, I might add.
36. #28 to all 'isrealis' here.
Invicta ,   Europa   (04.16.08)
Isreal did NOT leave Gaza three years ago. Isreal withdrew its army to behind a sealed wall.. Before doing so israel demolished the settlements contrary to previous agreements. Israel sealed the borders, controlled the airspace, refused the Gazans the right to build an airstrip, controlled the sea coast and decided who would and would not enter and exit Gaza and when it suited israel not Gaza. (see Mr Carter for example) So how does that tally with you assessment that Gaza was 'left' by israel? If israel was surrounded -which Gaza is - by a vastly superior and excessively belligerent army wouldn't israel resist. Or does israel prefer only to pick fights with weak and relatively unarmed opposition. Eh?

Jane   (04.16.08)
Oh Marcel - such big, big threats. Such manly language. You would do well to remember that the US army 'took the gloves' off in Iraq and in Vietnam. And lost. Twice.
38. We should fight with the will to defeat the enemy.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.16.08)
US Congressman David Weldon (R., Florida), who visited Israel a few weeks ago, said Israel should strike back at Gaza in one fell swoop. "During World War II," Weldon told the Makor Rishon newspaper, "the U.S. attacked Japan mercilessly. Despite the ethical problems, everyone now agrees that this caused Japan to surrender, thus saving many lives, including Japanese lives. This is the reason I think Israel should hit the Palestinians with one fell swoop, thus defeating them. Otherwise, this cruel situation of today will continue year after year, decade after decade.Just like parents have to protect their children," Weldon said, "a state must protect its citizens, especially those who are threatened such as those in Sderot. If a country would attack the U.S., I would support turning that country into dust. If it’s right for the U.S., it's right for Israel." As described at : http://xrl.us/biz8x
39. WE WILL REMEMBER
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (04.16.08)
Come election day, olmert and his anti-Israel minions will be relegated to the garbage dumps of Gaza - if given his ineptitude we have still survived!

Jane   (04.16.08)
Oh Robert, another boy who has been reading too many comics and watching too many war movies. All big words and hyperbole. You propose the Vietnam maxim; we had to destroy the village to save the village. And just remember that the US used chemical weapons and WMDS in Vietnam (and Iraq for that matter) and were defeated abjectly in the former and are well on their way to defeat in the latter. Just grow up - with all your big boy talk 'turning a country into dust', 'hit the Palestinians with one fell swoop'. Dear oh dear.

43. clashes with a Palestinian terror cell near security fence
observer   (04.16.08)
Q: did the terrorists bring their human shield with them? A: No! and that's why there was no civilian casualty. I think with the next preemptive defense operation, there would be more "soroking" and with repeated offenses you would lose the majority of your talkbackers.
44. To the family of the unnamed Beduoin solder
An Israeli mother   (04.16.08)
We respect your desire for privacy and from afar we salute and honor your son...for he was a soldier of Israel deserving of every honor. We are most saddened by your loss
45. To Givati on the loss of your comrades we are with you and..
An Israeli mother   (04.16.08)
salute you. All honor to you
46. to the Ovdati family may you recieve comfort from Heaven
an Israeli mother   (04.16.08)
Min HaShemayim Tenahamu. All honor to your son who was a dear Israeli soldier
47. No #38 we should fight with the will to defend our land!
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (04.16.08)
I choose the positive option of fighting from love of land and desire to defend her as opposed to thinking about the negative option which in my opinion is to fight with the will to defeat the enemy. If we fight merely in order to defeat the enemy and not to defend our beloved land then we become no better than the enemy we are fighting against
48. Landmines?!
Oleh ,   Tel Aviv   (04.16.08)
Why hasn't IDF mined the area around the fence (on the Gazan side)?! Landmines are simple, cheap and effective. Of course IDF will have to maintain secure routes through the minefields for operations as required. Mines could even be sown from the air, and would make approaching the fence a difficult and potentially deadly proposition. Limbless / dead terrorists are unlikely to do much more terrorising.
49. Jane #37 is not
Jane   (04.16.08)
me and she is wrong. The US did not take the gloves off in Iraq and certainly not in Vietnam. War was never officially declared by the US with regard to Vietnam. I know. I lived in the US during those years. Had the gloves been taken off in either case, both "wars" would have been over rather quickly. The US, however, can afford to play by Western rules. Israel, however, cannot. We live in the East, we should fight Eastern style.
50. #40 also not me. I am no bleeding heart lefty.
Jane   (04.16.08)
51. And a vision something's missing...
sasha ,   uk   (04.16.08)
the yeshua will not come from our leaders, nothing will change, nothing, until we the people will unite and run the enemy from our lands. ERETZ ISRAEL WAS ALWAYS THE JEWISH LAND AND IT WILL REMAIN OURS
52. Is this what it is like to live under Jewish law?
Angel ,   USA   (04.16.08)
Constant attacks and oppression of the minority?
53. #49
Jane   (04.16.08)
The US did 'take the gloves off' in Vietnam. More bombs were dropped on Vietnam than were dropped during the whole of WW2. Chemicals were sprayed all over the country's forests. Napalm was used on civilians and for deforestation. US armies burnt villages, raped women and firebombed civilians. The world and the US came out in protest. And for what? For total defeat. The same is happening in Iraq. The massive US army and all its cruise missiles, 'daisy cutters' Humvees, aircraft carriers, Apaches etcetera cannot quell the insurgency. And let's remember that the insurgency is a group of men armed with nothing more than AK47s and home made bombs! What does that tell you about resistance / insurgents?
54. #49
Invicta ,   Europa   (04.16.08)
The 'war' in Iraq was over very quickly. Do you not recall the hubristic Bush on the aircrft carrier? What is not over is the insurgency. And there is no end in sight. In Vietnam afte ten years of massive spending and waste of life the US had to run. Remember the helicopters on the roof?
55. no word about the human shield?

56. to right wingers: One of the soldiers is an Israeli-Arab
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (04.16.08)
I know you hate us and use every opportunity to call us 5th column.. just wanted to remind you that one of the IDF soldies killed is an Israeli-Arab.. had he finished his military service alive, he would still be considerd 2nd class citizen and discriminated against in every walk of life...
57. Rami #56, how do you feel that MK Ahmed Tibi
Jake   (04.16.08)
met with the leaders of the UAE, as a representative of "Palestine". He is an elected member of the Knesset of Israel, and he is travelling to nations which have either no diplomatic relations with Israel or are in state of war with Israel, and claiming to represent "Palestine". How does that make you feel?
58. no word about the human shield?
censored   (04.16.08)
59. #56, so what's your problem?
Antonio ,   Haifa   (04.16.08)
If you don't like it, move to an Arab country, where you won' t be second-class citizens and won't be discriminated. Is somebody stopping you from returning to your own countries, like the Jews who didn't want to be second-class citizens who returned to Israel? Seriously, get lost.
