i am sick and tired of that vain and silly man -- just lock him up in some retirement home, already. the new poland has no resemblance to the occupied one? neither did the old one. still, the memory of the war in poland is quite different for the poles and jews and there is no such a thing as a 'collective' polish-jewish memory.

Is it real? Obviously it is since so many of those Jews who survived the war in poland don't have many kind words to say about the Poles. And lets not forget the pogrom in Kielce, and perhaps even more than one. Actually, jews were murdered in poland after the war when they came to reclaim their homes. To date, Jewish property has not been returned to the Jewish owners, and that is a fact. The new generation is different, no doubt, but they must understand that Jewish animosity has its justifiable roots. Jedwabne did happen, and more than once. without polish people accepting moral responsibility, there can never be any real reconciliation. Does it matter? Soon the new Europen constitution will be passed and Poles and Poland will have no independent say about their foreign policy, anyway -- the Israel haters of the EU will be determining if the Poles are to feel friendly towards Israel.
