One again I see a person whose intellect I admire as a prominent name on this anti-Israel list - Stephen Fry. How a man with such education, knowledge and mastery of the English language can add his name to this list is beyond me. This is especially confusing after his episode of, "Who do you think you are?" charted his investigation into the genealogy on his mother's side of the family who are Jewish. He discovered that many of them are of Austro-Hungarian decent and thus perished at Auschwitz - only his grandfather made it out. I can't understand why he doesn't see the connection of the Holocaust and Israel and doesn’t support Israel accordingly OR at least read up about its history to get a balanced, unBBC approach.... Secondly, on the opposite side of the coin, the thing that galls me is the fact that Stephen Fry, who despite knowing his mother's roots all his life, was never brought up as a Jew, never acknowledged or celebrated his Jewishness yet claims to be a "Jew' for this list...... For me it shows that the laws on who is and isn't a Jew are far too narrow, discriminatory and outdated. I know of people who seriously want to be Jews, to have Jewish kids and support Israel but cannot endure the strict and often unreasonable rules that come along with it. (By the way, I have no problem with people criticizing/against Israel as long as their reasoning has fact and knowledge of both sides - I don't believe that Stephen Fry has either....its trendy to be anti-Israel at the BBC).
