1. B. Michael has it backwards, no surprise there.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.26.08)
Not a mention of almost daily incidents involving Palestinians - rock throwing at cars & buses, molotov cocktails, shooting attacks, attempts at terrorist attacks, etc. B. Michael was strangely silent after two (not one) bulldozer attacks, had nothing to say about the yeshiva massacre, the shooting death of a security guard, the attack on an electrician by two Palestinians, or any other incident. Similarly, he has nothing to say about continued morter attacks, Kassam attacks, & sniping at farmers near the Gaza border. This is basically what makes everything leftists like B. Michael say less than credible, why they have lost all support here in Israel, why their words carry so little weight. Because B. Michael & others of his view see only Israel as wrong. It is always a one-sided argument. In part, this is based on holding Israel to impossibly high standards while holding Palestinians to no standards at all. As if anyone in our circumstances would do better. I don't deny that there are abuses - given circumstances, it would be unrealistic to expect none. But why totally ignore Palestinian actions? Why paint us as evil, demonizing us to the whole world? Has anyone ever seen a conflict, especially in what is often called "assymetric warfare", which goes to such great lengths as the IDF to prevent abuses? We are in a war. Has there ever been a "nice" war? All of this self-righteous moralizing & biased condemnation is hypocritical to say the least. Totally one-sided arguments such as this can rightfully be classified as propaganda.
2. Let's talk about an end to "occupation"
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.26.08)
So, B. Michael, the occupation is evil, immoral, blah, blah, blah. We "un-occupied" Gaza. What did that bring? Or do you approve of Hamas? So now, realistically, if we pull out of the West Bank, what do you think will happen? Do you honestly believe Abbas & his Fatah crooks will survive even a few short weeks? Do you need a geography lesson to understand the security implications of a Hamas take-over? Not long ago Hamas thugs were throwing Fatah thugs off buildings. Yesterday, Fatah thugs set off bombs in Gaza & today Hamas arrested 120 Fatah supporters. How many terrorist organizations run around loose in the Palestinian areas? Have you by chance read the Hamas charter? Do you ever watch Hamas TV? For that matter, have you even read the Fatah or PLO charter? Did it sound peaceful to you? Do you read the PA media from time to time & is that what you approve of as a peace-partner? For G-d's sake, where are your brains? How do you manage to live in this region & not notice what almost every other person notices? When you can answer realistically any of my questions, maybe I'd take you seriously, but until then, you remain just a fool whose opinion merits no respect.
3. Terry of Eilat
Michael ,   Haifa   (07.26.08)
You are quick to call people ,with whom you disagree, fools. You, of course are a highly self-opiniated genius incapable of any notion of self-questioning or the slightest of doubts about the wisdom of your opinions. An independent Palestinian State (West Bank and Gaza), as opposed to an occupied territory would expose itself to a legitimate declaration of war by Israel in the event of any belligerency against Israel. Legitimate wars have been fought throughout human history...occupations have never been legitimate and have usually been short-lived.
4. B. Michael, thank you for being honest
News Observer   (07.26.08)
It's very rare, even unusual, to read such an opinion on a Jewish website. I bet the author will be labeled as a "Jew-hater" or "anti-semitic" for stating the truth? If really zionism WAS NOT equal to injustice and racism, zionist media would report in a similar objective, human and consciousious way about Palestinians under occupation. "They" know that if the truth is exposed, the world will revolt and the occupation will end. But they are eager to steal more Palestinian land, and in the process eliminate Palestinian people.
5. I did not see it, do I need glasses
charlot   (07.26.08)
Lets face it,like a flock of sheep following their leader over a cliff, the WORLD MASSES , mostly illiterate and backward will follow, condemn, accuse or worse (mob behavior) what the media feed them. If the media tells that Islam ,Allah, the Koran, the Mullahs, the Imams, their dictators are good for them; and the Jews, Israel, their god, their synagogues, their religion, their " matzot " socked in blood are bad for them --- Great, they call it " World Opinion " ( as per the Intelligentsia ) notwhitstanding the miserable life forced upon Arabs by their Masters, their rulers, their gods, as written in their " good Book " "" SO What The World Doesn't See "" is what the world doesn't get
6. Who is B Michael? He doesn't give his name or email address!
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (07.26.08)
Someone that rights such drek and fails to give his email address or even his name is obviously a coward and is unwilling to argue his viewpoint. I looked for his name on the web for a few minutes and found nothing. He should take a lesson from Yoav Yitzchak who is an excellent journalist. There are lots of people in the world called Michael - including me. The article is the sort that Olmert's family who are either hiding in the US, or are in Mother's in Black or Bet Zlem would write. Olmert's daughter checks soldiers at the borders and his wife is a left wing activist. Olmert is soon to be an ex-PM What's strange is why Ynet would even publish such a one sided biased article. Michael R - not B :-)
7. THANK YOU B.MICHEL FOR A GREAT ARTICLE
THANK YOU B.MICHAEL   (07.26.08)
8. B. Michael, I am just glad...
Etoile ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.26.08)
That losers such as yourself only represent a fringe minority that need the donations and help of outsiders just to stay afloat. Even take a look at the talkbacks of this article, it is indicates that the vast majority of your readers are totally against your views. The only two supporting talkbacks you have are #3, which I question since it is signed "Michael," and #4, who is a blatant anti-Zionist who believes in conspiracies. I would not be surprised if later, you yourself post one or two more positive comments to this article under different names. This is indicative of the demographic you represent, namely obsessive lunatics, anti-Zionist conspiracy theorists, and haters of the State of Israel. I ask only one thing, please do not make too much of a scene with your rantings. As amusing as you are, it does get a little embarrasing after a while for the majority of us who are not weirdos like you.
9. to #3 Just like we stopped the kassams and

motars from gaza? That was some fast war. It did not even make the news.
10. terry from eilat
(07.26.08)
it is true that you occasionaly hear about an attack here or there which kills 1 ,2 or 3 israelis , but you must remember that palestinians are humen and can take only so much and there are those who are bound to break sooner or later , after all if you put and animal in a corner and try to terrorize him , he will attack you and not only sit there and watch , and that is how it is with the palestinians they are bieng attacked every minuete of the day , they are living like animals because of this occupation . i cannot even find a good school for my children because every school that i went to has over 45 children in the class and cannot take any more and iam talking about inside of israel and the west bank or gaza , i could not find a club where i can admit my children over the summer , so they can spend a good and productive summer instead of spending it on the streets like millions of other palestinians who are denied this , unlike the jewish and israeli kids who have shools and playgrounds and clubs in every neigborhood and i can go on and give million other reasons why it is so terrible to live in a place which only serves the jews and only the jews and all others can go to hell . and all of this is not because we the palestinians are terrorists because we are not .it is because you want to make sure that we have the worst quality of life hoping that we would packup and leave . but let me assure you you my freind that i will have 10 more children and keep on living in my home land where my father and great grandfather and those before him lived before me and in the meanwhile keep wishing that this brutel occupation will end so my children and grandchildren will live in peace and not like i lived . like an animal which the current occupiers are making sure of ...
11. #3 Michael, Haifa.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (07.26.08)
I don't call B. Michael a fool just because I don't agree with him. I read plenty of articles by plenty of journalists (& others) with whom I raise what I believe are legitimate points. There are many legitimate problems associated with what you call occupation & I don't call everyone who raises them a fool. But I do expect any author to discuss real concrete problems in a rational way. B. Michael does not do that. He is not only a fool but a fanatic & a propagandist. As to your point that we could make war on a Palestinian state & this would have some legitimacy. In theory, that might be true. But recent experience has shown that this will not be the case. Aside from the reticence of our gov't. to take any real actions (note Gaza), we would be condemned internationally. This was the case in Lebanon as well. There is another question as well. Today, the West Bank is disputed territory. This is it's legal status. Once an independant Palestinian state arises, it will immediately join the UN & other world organizations. Not only would a war be condemned but we could never re-occupy a sovereign state. I ask you to judge the probability of a stable non-terrorist Palestinian state. I think you know the answer. Here is our dilemma - let's say that in the unlikely event that Fatah can stay in power. Hamas will not cease to exist. And, they will continue terrorist attacks. As is even the case today, Fatah will condemn the attacks officially while all the while calling this heroic resistence, martyrs, etc. And there are many terrorist groups besides Hamas. And all of this rests on what is to me an unsupported assumption that Abbas & Fatah do not have as their ultimate aim our elimination. I've already written too much so I'll cut it short. Anyway, Ynet wouldn't print what I see as a solution. But I do resent you calling me a self-opinionated genius incapable of questioning etc. - I don't think that's either fair or accurate.
12. # 3 Michael of Haifa
Bill ,   US   (07.26.08)
Can you prove that a Palestinian state that is split as it would be would not produce the same result as Pakistan when it administered Bengladesh. In which case, Pakistan allowed them to starve. When Arafat ruled the West Bank he did neglect the Gazans so there is already a history for this among the Palestinians. Who do you think will bear the brunt of such neglect? The fools in the middle - Israel. The Israeli Left had their chance. You brought the PLO into Israel to administer the Arabs areas whereby they stole billions of dollars in aid meant to devlop a Palestinian state and continued to terrorize Israel in spite of their promises. Is it really so wrong or arrogant to suggest that you might not know what you're talking about?
13. world

YNET has become a paper whose whole purpose is to print somebias untruthful bias against anything Israeli. The worst enemy of the IDF.Thebest friend of the enemy Never a true story always the backstabbing frilth of the minorotity leftist outlander. The state should close this newspaper.

collaborating with enemy these leftists think it better the jews be 'mistreated'.
15. # 11 and #12
Michael ,   Haifa   (07.26.08)
I do not lay any claim to being correct or not. Quite to the contrary, any one making a claim to predict the future is arrogant beyond belief. One can only talk about possible future scenarios in terms of their relative plausibility. The trouble about talback is that most people are so convinced by the absolute truth of their opinions that they are prepared to become offensive when someone dares to question their plausibility
16. #10: Are you saying this has nothing to do with jihad?
Steve ,   US   (07.26.08)
You make a compelling argument. Why is it that your fellow Palestinian Muslim shaheeds (martyrs) invoke Allah -- "Allahu Akbar" -- and the jihad as the justification for terror and violence? If this is only about oppression and humiliation, why is it that Muslims, living in countries that are more oppressive, do not wage war against their leaders? Why was there all this terrorism from 1948 through 1967 when Israel did not possess the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem? There was no "occupation" then. Why all the terrorism and violence? After the first tractor attack in Jerusalem, I saw the mother of the jihadist / martyr crying out "Shaheed, Shaheed!" from the roof of her home for all in the villiage to hear. Why did she do this? If this is not about jihad and martyrdom, why is it invoked by your martrys and byyour religious and government leaders? Mahmoud Abbas invokes the jihad. Why?
17. What I don't see...
Matthew   (07.26.08)
I don't see even a single scrap of evidence to support this guy's wild claims of the IDF abusing millions of people. I don't see him offering any solution to the problem facing Israel..such as million of Muslims comitted to its destruction. Fools like this simply repeat "end the occupation..end the occupation" as if it were some sort of magical icantation that will make everything better. What did the pullouts from Lebanon and Gaza bring? As for poster #3: you never actually answered any of Terry's questions. Why would creating an Palestinian State and then fighting a legal war with it bring anything better? Israel acquired the WB thru winning a war. What has that accomplished? Your solution would only allow the Islamists to get more weapons and would then cost more IDF lives to over power them in your little "war" and Israel would be right back where it is now.
18. Can you see this?
Matthew   (07.26.08)
Look at this fool's line of logic: Israel is condemned for punishing a soldier for doing an unethical and illegal act! When an IDF soldier commits a crime he rages against the evil Israelis. When Israel punishes the soldier he rages against the evil Israelis. This is similiar to that idiot professor who condemned Israel a number of months ago because the IDF rapes to FEW Palestinian women. She decided that since the IDF is not constantly raping Arab girls it must be because Israel has dehumanized the Arabs so badly that they think of them as animals. What a moron! Look, if the loony leftists have stooped to criticizing Israel for punishing bad soldiers and not raping Arab girls then Isael should consider itself to be doing a fantastic job. Keep it up.
19. Sick

Why do you have to shoot a handcuffed man in the foot? Hizbollah killed the two captured Israelis for the same reason.

Joe ,   NY, USA   (07.26.08)
I'm sorry you feel you are being treated like an animal by my brethren. It would be a good thing for them to build summer camps, clubs, and extra schools for your ten children. Unfortunately, they're a little busy right now accomodating thousands of Arab prisoners who daily try to murder their citizens. They also have this misguided notion that those who benefit the state should receive the most from the state. I'm sure in due time, they'll get to their Arab citizens who fly enemy flags, encourage foreign countries to boycott the state and crush its economy, aid terrorists, and refuse to do any national service. Be patient cousin. Eventually you'll get what you deserve too. In the meantime try reading a book about life for Jews under Arab Muslim rule. You'll see that we do understand the experience of living under people who want society to only benefit people of a certain faith. Be grateful Israel doesn't make you pay a special "protection" tax for living there. Salaam.
22. Leftist crap
Brod ,   USA   (07.26.08)
The Leftists are quick to condemn the security forces in protecting the nation from the infiltrations of Islamist-Jihadist terrorists. Would they prefer to Israel without those security nets and see Islamist-Jihadist suicide bomb explosions all over Israel killing Israelis? It is time Israel deports these foreign agents pretending to be Jews.

B.Michael do not spread lies.Where is your data?We do have data of massacres in a Yeshiva, tractor killings by Palestinian terrorists. I will recommend you as a Public Relationsexpert for the terrorists.
25. B. Michael thinks innuendo is logic
David ,   Rehovot   (07.26.08)
Israel immediately investigates a man being shot in the foot by a rubber bullet. The PA, Fatah & Hamas immediately glorify people who die while killing civilians. Michael suggests there's more than the first, w/o evidence, and ignores the clear evidence of the second.
26. What You do Not See
David ,   Beit Shemesh   (07.26.08)
I don't know who you are B. Michael, but you do not live in the same world I live in. In my world the Palestinians plot day and night to kill every Israeli and throw them into the sea, eradicating the State of Israel. Anything we do to them is purely in defense of our lives. This is war and war is never nice and pretty. Let them change their goals and behavior and we can all liver in peace together. Until then we will do whatever is necessary to survive. If you don't like it, then you are free to move to anywhere else in the world.
27. Why does Ynet publish articles from so many Arab writers?

29. To Ynet
NYC Girl   (07.26.08)
Generally, when an opinion piece is published the author is identified by his/her full name and any relevant affiliation. Yet, for some reason, none of this pertinent information is offered regarding B. Michael.
30. 19 - you compare shooting a man in the foot with killing him
redmike ,   Tel Aviv   (07.26.08)
As I understand it the soldier fired near to the man's foot and he was released from hospital with scratches. Similar to the Canadian that was arrested today. After he was arrested he told his 'comrades' that he was beaten and spat upon. How did he tell them after he'd been arrested? Mike
