You MUST be drinking the same Kool Aid as Landau as your support for this notion of an Obama presidency is as strange as your comments. Please vote for who you wish, as that is your privelege, but don't try to convince us of your opinion as it is just plain wrong. If Obama wins, we can expect the worst years....comparable to the Carter presidency.
32. Landau is totally fooled
Shmendrik ,   Israel   (10.23.08)
Theres one thing most of the major media outlets are keeping at a low profile. Obamas mentor and man behind him for the last 15 years is a Dr Khalid Al Mansour. Mr Mansour is also one of the chief advisers to the King of Saudi! You think this is good for America or Israel Mr Landau, you are fooled!
33. A Vote For Obama Is A Vote For Farrakhan!!!
Yerach ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (10.22.08)
34. Give Chaim a break!
Andrei Schwartz ,   Romania   (10.23.08)
I don't necessarily agree fully with the logic Chaim uses on this topic, but Mr Landau is a decent and smart guy who wants Israel';s best! For myself.. I want to see Obama say "we will attack Iran, before Iran will attack Israel" rather than "If Iran hits Israel, we will attack Iran". Chaim is right., and none will contradict him: we, as Jews anywhere, wish a strong, economically and otherwise healthy America! Our gratitude to this country is the highest possible,as they are the only ones standing always firmly by Israel. Only a strong America can defend itself, promote beneficial innovations (alternative energy, etc). Europe and the world want to see Obama the next president of the US.. the problem is ..why? It can be that they want to shape an America that they will like. An America that will behave and will not control World politics and economics. And then..the problem: do we want Europe and the Arab countries to control the World? Anytime they did..we got: World Wars, State terrorism, etc. I won't tell you who you should vote for. Jpost readership is not the place, in any case! :)
35. Obama the better choice? NOT!
EARL MANN ,   TORONTO, CANADA   (10.22.08)
WHAT A DUMB ARTICLE. LANDAU IS CLEARLY IN THE LAND OF 'WISHFUL THINKING'. AS SOON AS OBAMA IS ELECTED PRESIDENT ALL HIS LEFTIST, ISRAEL BASHING MIDDLE EAST ADVISERS WILL EMERGE FROM HIDING BEHIND THE BUSHES WHERE THEY'VE BEEN HIDING UNTIL IT WAS ONCE AGAIN 'SAFE' TO COME OUT. BUT COME OUT THEY WILL! ISRAEL WILL RUE THE DAY OBAMA IS ELECTED PRESIDENT. HE WILL BE ALL TOO WILLING TO SACRIFICE US IN ORDER FOR SOME ARAB POTTAGE, AND SOME 'GOOD' PR. CHAIM, I'M AFRAID YOU ARE DELUDING YOURSELF ~ AS ARE ALL JEWS WHO CHOOSE TO VOTE FOR BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA.
36. A Zionist American for Obama
Sue Stockton ,   Denver, CO   (10.23.08)
McCain and his bimbo running mate will be a total disaster for US and Israel. A Strong US = A Strong Israel After 8 years of republican.....US is no longer a global power house, economically or politically. W also allowed Iran to spread its influence throughout the ME by removing a secular dictator. He was by the far worst president for the stability of the ME. Obama is our only hope.
37. To #20, R. Gardner. You've heard the phrase "Bush 3rd term".
Jake   (10.23.08)
The heart and soul of Obama's campaign strategy is to claim McCain is an extension of Bush, and that McCain's policies will be a continuation of Bush's. The irony is, it is more likely that the "Bush 3rd term" will describe an Obama presidency, i.e. a continuation or even acceleration in the decline in American prestige and influence, and a compounding of America's woes. The sum-total of Obama's economic package is a mathematical impossibility, a ficticious illusion, based on promises that he could never keep even if he wanted. He plans to offer Americans earning up to $250,000 significant tax cuts, in addition to tax cuts to corporations that meet his requirements on outsourcing (and there are many), and yet he has pledged to spend more money on more federal projects than can possibly be imagined. If it sounds too good to be true, it's because it's a lie. In the last debate, the moderator specifically said that the US government spends more money on education per capita than any country on earth, yet all indications are that student academic performance consistently trails that of other countries. One of Obama's replies was "We need more funding". Obama has talked about meeting the leaders of Iran, North Korea, and Cuba without preconditions, stressing the need for diplomacy to prevail in preventing a "game changer" like a nuclear Iran. Fair enough. But then he went on to rattle the saber and threaten American military action in Pakistan, as though Pakistan's alliance with America, and the presence of 100's of millions of angry Moslems plus nuclear weapons, were merely trifles and logistical details. Last but not least are Obama's deadlines for troop withdrawals from Iraq, which he claims are necessary "so that we can concentrate on Afghanistan".... as though the Talibans and al Qaeda of Tora-Bora and Waziristan have no dog in the fight in Iraq. Let's be honest here. Whether we agree or disagree with Bush's decision to invade Iraq and topple Saddam, it is clear the US military discharged its duty in Iraq with upstanding morals, courage, and humanity, and not as chocolate soldiers or barbarians. They deserve a dignified exit. What do you think will happen if Obama's deadlines and withdrawal date are applied? Every insurgent and terror group in Iraq fighting the Americans will prepare in advance for that date with a momentous celebration and barbeque. Do you think the Talibans and al-Qaedas in Afghanistan/Pakistan won't throw their own party, and won't feel the wind in their sails? They will be ready on that date with their own wieners and steaks, RPG's and IED's, murder, madness, and mayhem. And that date will be etched into their calendars for the next 1000 years.
38. #20 moron,We are the nation with 6000 years experience
e.m.Jordan is Palest ,   s.f   (10.23.08)
No one has suffered in history like a Jews it is mean we experienced more then every nation, during 60 years our reestablishment we were warring to west and to U.S .A regarding the fanatic’s terrorisms of Islam but they did not believe us until the unfortunately 911 happened, When the Israel air force in 1981 have bomb and destroyed the Iraqi nuclear facility, the entire world have condemn us but now the west and U.S.A are regret because the mistaken that they made on the past, Now it is your choose if you believe in Obama go head and vote for him.
39. Obama = New Moses!
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay   (10.23.08)
Back in the day, Moses said to the Children of Israel: "Pack your shovel onto your camel and ride on your ass, we're headed for the Promised Land." Today Obama says: "Throw away your shovel, light up a Camel (an American cigarette), and sit on your ass. This IS the Promised Land!" Obama has over-promised what the American government can do for it's people, and the people of the world. No small wonder that. He is only following in the footsteps of every other politician before him.

what does that say?
43. To delerious obama supporters (#20)
Al ,   Toronto CAN   (10.23.08)
If you were to ask the majority of Americans why they are voting for Obama they will tell you it is because he is inspiring. Unfortunately, the media as well as these millions of obama supporters fail to recognize that this is not the most important quality for a president. How about experience and valid judgement on a wide range of issues (rather than abstaining to most of them). Michelle and Barack have one thing on their mind in running for office, they would like to curb rascism in the US. I agree that this would be wonderful however we are facing the most challenging time in history with the emerging threats in Iran, global warming, and an economic meltdown. Mccain has a proven record to confront all of these issues on a global scale. If Barack makes office you can expect a passive appeasement strategy to all international issues and if the US is not willing to step-in in an emergency situation than who else will?.... the UN, Europe. I don't think so. Instead of creating conflict and standing up for moral and human rights abroad the US will tax their citizens to oblivion and create thousands of useless social programs to promote equality. If the media had played fair game throughout this election. The race would have been between Hilary and Mccain. The former would have won in a landslide and deserved to be there. Hopefully Mccain wins, completes his 4 yr term and allowed Clinton to take the thrown in 2012.
44. Jesse Jackson warned you: Obama will end "the Jewish lobby"
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (10.23.08)
Many of us have know for over a year that Obama is the anti-Jewish lobby candidate. Last week, Jesse Jackson let that "secret" slip out last week. Some Jewish voters still don't believe it. Obama's friend/colleague Bill Ayers and other radical leftist education leaders produced a generation of young voters who are now anti-Israel. Their movement for "social justice" includes an end to the "occupation of Palestine" and the ideas of Karl Marx and Malcolm X. BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, see this video and send the link to everyone you know. THE JEWISH CASE AGAINST BARACK OBAMA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PDh7s1pjIw

David ,   Givat Shmuel, Israel   (10.23.08)
I happen to know Chaim and have for many years. He made aliyah, served in an IDF combat unit, went to bat for Israel in Europe. He also happens to be a religious Jew for those Y-net talkbackers who attack anyone secular. I wonder how many other of these armchair warriors can make those claims. But some people have to see everything in black and white, and shoot off their absolutist opinions from the computer without thinking them through and are insulting in a way they would never be face to face. Chaim could be entirely wrong about Obama & McCain. That's why talkbacks exist to discuss the ideas. Not personalities. But people who make personal attacks (on someone analyzing information-not a politician) and that seems to make up the majority of the comments here are not acting like adults. You have something substantive to say, submit your own column. Y-net publishes lots of columns submitted by people outside the usual media circuit. Talk the talk, walk the walk.

48. Israel has become a strategic liability...
Doris Wise Montrose ,   Los Angeles, USA   (10.23.08)
The implementation of this leftist philosophy, Israel has become a strategic liability and burden on America. The security of America and Europe requies a strong democratic ally in the Middle East as Israel used to be. An Obama presidency, Gd forbid, would seriously endanger the future of Israel's existence, weaken America and Europe and strengthen our mutual Islamic enemy.
49. We're voting for the Titus of our generation...
shneerhere ,   USA   (10.23.08)
Remember My Words: Obama will SLAM Israel, you'll miss the days of Bush Sr. You'll miss the days of a Jimmy Carter. Obama will ROLL BACK Israel, squeeeeeeze her in the name of 'fairness' and 'justice' for the Palestinians. We got fat, we got rich, we got cushy.... now we will get trim, save, and harden. But, oh, how avoidable it all was....
50. Which Israel hating organization pays your salary?

51. Encouraging comments.

After reading most of the comments here, I am encouraged. There may be hope for McCain after all!
52. Wow, no matter how we try, Israelis are beyond help

53. Obama
tov klein ,   whistler canada   (10.23.08)
First of all, do you honestly believe Obama wouldn't say anything to be elected? Both Mcain and Obama are but mere pawns or',"elected figure heads!" The policies of the US will mostly benefit the elite. I believe Israel hs almost never had a true Jewish leader, except possibly Meir! It is truly disgusting how the goi has accepted Jewish deaths as normal. They imprison young girls, enforce a no self-defense code and defer to the US like a puppet gov't. I believe Hashem did not intend this upon us. The people who are labelled as,"settlers" are the true Jews! They are pious and follow the Torah. They are our first line defenders of the faith. They should be called',Israeli citizens! It is truly horrible that our holiest site was desacrated by a mosque! The fact that Obama lies about his own heritage should cause one to worry.
54. #45 100% behind you
moshe ,   Israel   (10.23.08)
As a McCain Supporter i am embarrassed by many if not most of the comments written here. only a few actually deal with the content of Mr. Landau's article or his claims.
55. I'll take Barack Hussein Obama any day...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (10.23.08)
over the erratic, doddering old fool and the blithering idiot he's running against. Every single word in this article, in my view, is true.
56. Obama is dangerous to USA and Israel
lawrence ,   Philadelphia, USA   (10.23.08)
I agree with Mr. Gardner (#20) in that it was a well written article. Now having said that I have to say that I disagree with him on all other points. I believe that he would seell both countries out to muslims and the extreme left. I am terified of an Obama presidency. Freedom of speech and thought are on the line, and at risk, with the intolerence of ideas which is the trademark of the left. #24 has it right. The freedom and even the lives of all the people in both nations are at trisk with this election. As stated by one of Obamas political advisors on the mideast. he will have a pro-arab stance against Isreal. This could be a funeral for both nations.
57. Lesser of two evils.
Gideon Reader   (10.23.08)
Obama is the better choice. For Englishman Landau. For americans John McCain is the obviously better choice on many levels and for many reasons. I am not a great fan of John McCain and would have been very much happier with a different candidate. That said, of the two persons running, only one bodes well for America as we know it. Zeroman is an impending disaster; if only based on his non-performance in any task he has taken on. A "luftmensch" who has not build anything. made anything. Employed anyone. Passed any significant legislation. Run any project or ever done anything to indicate that he has ANY executive experience in any endeavor. EVER! His qualifications are in question, up to and including the constitutional requirements demanded of any candidate. This less than acceptable person could not get a basic security clearance to work at the lowest level in the Federal government no less be it's chief executive officer. Were he not the blessed darling of the U.S.'s left, he would be laughed away from the table. He is not even a decent Chauncy Gardinier.
58. obama was raised as a muslim from childhood
virginia orrall   (10.23.08)
he is still a muslim and can and in a not too long ago interview has recited their prayer quote----there is no god but allah and muhammed is his messenger---------all in perfect arabic language. be realistic ;do you really believe that he is presenting the real obama to us right now while trying to obtain power? when he gets the power watch out-----the real him will slip out more and more.
59. For ham-ass and fatah, obama is the better choice.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.23.08)
60. 31, 37, 38
Robert Gardner ,   Washington, DC   (10.23.08)
You've all proved my point. As opposed to deal with the substance of Mr. Landau's article, you have merely personally attacked Mr. Landau and myself. What I said was, respectfully disagree with the merits of another's position as opposed to denigrate that person. This is precisely the reason that Jews have abandoned the McCain/Palin ticket, because we are smart enough to see through that mess. Yaron, merely because you don't understand what I said, doesn't mean the comments are strange. Try reading them, then maybe look up the words. It could help. You offer no support for your position and merely try to mock the other position. Can't you think of anything other than "drink the Kool-Aid"...what a fool. Jake, I'm not sure that you know what you are talking about, let alone anyone trying to decipher the conjecture in your comments. However, I would advise you to read the platforms. Here, it would be too easy to destroy McCain's platform (I wonder if he's even seen it as it contradicts so much of his previous positions...oh well, he's a maverick) as it is, so spare us your parsing. Do us all a favor and vote for B. Barr. #38 - what?
