31. Richard, what about the Egyptian Crossinmg?
Jayjay ,   Israel   (11.18.08)
How convenient that you dont mention or complain about Egypts violation of the Gazzans. You are a hypocrite and a fool. Even the PA Press admits its a scam http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&langpair=ar|en&u=http://www.palpress.ps/arabic/index.php%3Fmaa%3DReadStory%26ChannelID%3D46296&tbb=1 Read and weep you moron!
32. The brutalization of occupation
Richard ,   London UK   (11.18.08)
The lack of adequate physical protection to civilians continued to be an issue of concern during the month (Oct 08): following the beginning of the annual olive harvest on 10 October, Palestinians harvesting olives in groves near some Israeli settlements and outposts in Area C suffered from repeated acts of intimidation and physical violence from Israeli settlers, despite the deployment of the IDF at friction points. Meanwhile, Palestinians living in the Israeli-controlled area of Hebron City (H2) experienced an intensified wave of settler violence when Israeli settlers launched multiple attacks following attempts by the Israeli authorities to dismantle a settlement outpost. In addition, several attacks by Israelis on Palestinians and their property in East Jerusalem were reported in October, most of them over the course of the Jewish holidays. The number of Palestinians injured by Israeli security forces in the context of military operations, including search and arrest campaigns decreased by 20% compared to the monthly average since the beginning of the year. In total, during October, four Palestinians were killed, including one child, and 109 were injured, including 16 children, in Israeli-Palestinian conflict-related violence.
33. Richard #4 have you read to Geneva Convention?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.18.08)
I'll bet not, because if you had you would have found the clause about what constitutes 'occupation'. "territory is considered occupied when it is actually placed under the authority of the hostile army. The occupation extends only to the territory where such authority has been established and can be exercised." Are you attempting to claim that we are able to 'occupy' territory without being there? That's a neat trick, but physically impossible. Gaza is under Arab occupation. The law belongs to Jews not Arabs. They are the ones violating the Geneva Convention. Ethnic cleansing, genocide, rocket attacks on civilians, etc. Whereas we have no responsibility to the Arabs for anything at all.
34. Why life in Gaza is so wretched?
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.18.08)
When Israel pulled out of Gaza, the world waited to see what the Palestinians would make of it, as a prelude to their having a full state including the West Bank. The first thing the Palestinians did was smash all the greenhouses the settlers had built, instead of using them to aid their economy. Then they turned Gaza into a mini-terror state, launching a war against Israel that continues to this day. And now they wonder why life in Gaza is so wretched, when it could have flourished. To those who say we should not isolate Hamas: Hamas isolated itself, with its aggression not only against Israel but also against other Palestinians. When the aggression will stop, the isolation will stop. But the aggression will never stop as long as Palestinian extremists continue to enjoy support from their self-righteous cheering section, which has chapters all over the world and in many universities and trade unions as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/giving-billions-of-dollars-to-murderers.html
35. The best solution.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (11.18.08)
If the billions the world is committed to pay the Palestinians went not only to the Palestinian families to help them with relocating, but also to any Arab nation willing to take them in, to help them absorb the Palestinians, then there is some chance for such proposal gaining traction and for the Arab world to start letting go off their dream of a Judenrein Middle East. A new solution might be conceived of with Israel taking over Gaza and the West Bank for itself and the Palestinians making an exodus from the land and being absorbed by other nations. Such solution would be one that would be bought and paid for from the annual billions of dollars in welfare the world now throws at Palestinians, in favor of Palestinians and those nations prepared to absorb them as citizens. 36. As usual...
Pastaneta ,   NYC   (11.18.08)
the Useless nations do not talk of the attacks on Israel... IMO, Israel should bomb Gaza each time a rocket is fired...
37. gazan's rights
elliot ,   usa   (11.18.08)
they exercised the right to vote hamas and are enjoying the fuits of exercising that right
38. Richard from London fits the definition of a bigot
Phil ,   US   (11.18.08)
Fact #1. Gaza has a border with Egypt. All vital supplies for Gaza can easily be transported to Gaza from Egypt. Fact #2. London's Richard will never acknowledge this previous fact as he would lose a good talking point in his ceasless hateful propaganda war against Israel. Fact #3. The blockade was imposed after the rockets started to hit the Israeli Gaza communities again. Evidently, Richard, like the nazis who attacked the Jewish defenders of the Warswaw Ghetto considered the Jewish fighters to be criminals for having the gall to defend themselves. Fact #4. Richard's statistics about the number of c hildren in Gaza may or may not be accurate. Whatever, his statistics do show that Richard does not consider the Jewish children of Sderot and other Israeli communities to be human beings worthy of going to school and playing outside without the threat of Hamas rockets. It is a shame that Gaza children are used as pawns by theier leaders in order to arouse the UN and "people" such as Richard. Fact #5. Israel has no legal, moral, or ethical obligatioon to supply a territory that is governed by a group that vows to destroy Israel. That they are doing so is a statement of Israeli fear of "international opinion" and the cynical propaganda war against them. Other Arab states could easily supply Gaza. However, the UN and other organizations have a moral, legal, and ethical obligation to allow Israeli children in Sderot to live without the fear of Hamas rockets. Since Richard hates Israel, he considers himself to be free of such concerns for the welfare of Jewish children.
39. The attitude of Brits
abba ,   modiin israel   (11.18.08)
Reviewing some of the comments from London, nothing much has changed. The Brits tried to stop Holocaust survivors from coming to Israel in 1945 to live in peace in their own land. They're as blind to Jewish rights now as they were then.
40. UN and gaza
dr daniel mostrel ,   paris france   (11.18.08)
free gilad shalit no rockets on the southof Israel UN please answer
41. london richard move to gaza and help them farm
yahn goodey   (11.18.08)
we feed ourselves by farming between rocket and terrorist attacks. you should help your friends to farm so they can feed themselves as well. have fun working with a minority of them that try while the rest are busy with their religious jihad that allows no time for doing anything else.
42. 'Palestinians forcibly deprived and Israeli from Sderot
Daniel ,   Amsterdam   (11.18.08)
UN as usual is following its one way policy against Israel.Because according with them only Israel is violating something. Untill they do not change their policy they will be considered clowns in Pals hand and they have no credibility and this will make a big damage to the ones who really need their help.
43. #4, your point?
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (11.18.08)
You somehow fail to realize that controlling borders is not the same thing as occupation - occupation involves setting troops on the so-called occupied soil. Furthermore, last time I checked, Gaza holds a border with Egypt. Somehow, no one in the UN has even *contemplated* the possibility of making the Egypt crossing the main passageway for international aid, preferring instead to "maintain the status-quo" wherein Israel is still treated as the occupying power despite *not* being the occupying power in Gaza anymore. Israel is not obliged to give Gaza anything. Israel is not obliged to pass anything through its borders to some undefined national entity - and certainly not to one that holds military hostilities with Israel.
44. hamas'lucrative tunnel system...
alone ben caro ,   usa   (11.18.08)
is what comes under siege as soon as israel allows goods into gaza. That is why they fire the rockets,in hopes of Israel retaliating by stopping the flow of outside goods. We do not need to do Bush and abbas a favor. The gazans voted for hamas, let them have hamas'gaza. We do not need to bother with them at all.If the UN wants goods into Gaza, let the UN float them in under their own security.Forget gaza, hamas and the gazans deserve each other. Let them have each other until the time comes that neither resides their any longer.
45. All is fair in love and war. This is what
Eric.... ,   Israel...   (11.18.08)
they want and this is what they get.
46.  "GO TO HELL"!..{ COULD BE EGYPT ? )
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (11.18.08)
SDEROT HAS BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS TOO ,WHICH ARE CONVENIENTLY OVERLOOKED EVEN BY ISRAELI GOVERNMENT WHO ALLOW BASIC PROVISIONS TO PASS IN CONVOY TO A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO ARE DEDICATED DESTROYERS OF ANYTHING ISRAELI
47. #5, let's reinstate the rights of Israeli "monsters", as you
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (11.18.08)
put it, to live a life free of exploding metal rain. Free of suicide bombers that try to cross the borders. Free of tunnels digging into our country to kidnap us. Let's give that a try, shall we? Also, let's try the one thing you haven't thought about - treating the Palestinians like responsible adults, and Hamas like the government of the supposedly undefined entity known as Gaza. Also, kindly refrain from twisting the age statistics. Teenagers after 15 are very much adults. Teenagers are sadly also the easiest population group to influence - and hence, the biggest percentage of the armed "resistance" fighters in the Palestinian territories.
48. #23, the inability of Palestinians to build their
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (11.18.08)
infrastructure up rather than demolishing it (as they did with the agricultural assets formerly owned by Israelis in Gaza) is their sole responsibility. Corruption and guns, Richard. Both are far more important in the eyes of the Palestinian government official than food, clothes, and self-reliance. And frankly, Gaza wouldn't be under siege today if its ruling caste didn't prefer a state of war to the stability of peace. Hamas flourishes in conflict - and is terrified of actually having to rule responsibly. Thus death has become the national priority. And Hamas, in case you haven't noticed, is not interested in compromise beyond temporary ceasefires. Until that mindset changes, until they are willing to recognize the democratic process they entered and the agreements signed by their predecessors, and until they relinquish their policy of neverending war until *all* of Israel is in Palestinian hands... ...until then, the average Palestinian will be just where he is today. Heading to oblivion.
49. #24, when Hamas stops taking international aid
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (11.18.08)
and supplies for military purposes - those of its famed "resistance", then maybe the fishermen of Gaza will have their fuel and gas. And again - the failure of Palestinians to maintain their infrastructure is solely their own fault. They had the funds - billions of international aid. And they squandered them on offshore accounts and instruments of death.
50. #28, Gaza has limited control of its status because it
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (11.18.08)
chose to remain limited, and in a state of war. Control of borders is not occupation, Richard. It never was, and never will be. If a country is not self-reliant, then it is not the fault of its neighbors that it chose to be consistently stupid and short-sighted.
51. No. 1
Libyan Guy ,   Italy   (11.18.08)
Dear Talula, Maybe we can start touring wiht you in Gaza Hospital, you can see how much pain and suffering is your democratic Israel causing to women & childre. 52. Richard
israeli ,   israel   (11.18.08)
have you not seen pictures of Ms. Booth shopping in Gaza? They even take credit cards in those well stocked stores. Not to mention the check out computer. Have you not seen the al fresco feasts organized in Gaza during Ramadan? Or the the LCD-packed stores? If you spent less time copying and pasting rubbish, you might catch up with the news, even if it is already stale news. Or is it too much to ask of a Brit?
53. Democratic Government
Jewish Refugee ,   U.S.A.   (11.18.08)
Hamas was chosen by the Arabs living in Gaza. Hamas is a legitamate government of Gaza. Hamas is the sworn enemy of Israel, who attack Israeli cities. So when Israel fights back it should the people who chose this governemnt not with just government. Did you Allied powers only fought Hitler Cabinet or the whole Germany? But it seems that Israeli Jews are very reluctant to act against its traitorous government. The government that over and over again proved that it works for its own pockets. When will Israeli people and the Jewry around the world wake up? Please join the new blog at http://israelactnow.blogspot.com/ to voice your opinion, to show your support for Israel.

58. UTTER RUBBISH--THESE ARE NOT HUMAN RIGHTS
KettleWhistle ,   israelforum.com   (11.18.08)
Electricity and aid are not human rights. The Arabs elected their government, and now they have to bear the consequences. Israel owes them nothing.
59. 24 boo hoo hoo
Israel   (11.18.08)
what is your answer? let them fire rockets into israel, and we do nothing? no chance mate.
60. 51
Talula ,   Israel   (11.18.08)
Dear Libyan guy, Less than 60 years ago, Jews were rounded up and murdered in concentration camps - children were taken away from their parents and put in gas chambers - and their parents murdered the same way - everything they had was taken away from them. Those Jews did NOTHING to deserve it - their only crime was that they were Jewish. They were not firing rockets into Germany, they were not sending in suicde bombers to blow up people and they were not continually trying to kill as many people as they could. So, leave talk of the Holocaust if you don't know the history. Over to Gaza.... The south of my beloved country is continually under rocket fire - the people in the south cannot live normal lives and their freedom of movement has been taken away from them, in their own country. If you cannot see the difference, then maybe you should get an education -or, better still, visit Yad Vashem and then go south to Sderot for a day. I can take you to Sheba hospital or Soroka or Belinson after a suicide bomber has blown himself up. And while you are passing through the wards, you'll also come across the sick Palestinians that were allowed into Israel for treatment. Try and look at the broader picture. Salam and Shalom to you.
