61. I'M NOT GENERALLY PREDISPOSED...
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   ZION   (12.01.08)
to these streimel wearing, pais displaying, costume acutrimented Torah boys but, in this case they are 100% CORRECT ! The "government" of Oslo, Altilena, Gush Katif, has certainly presented it's credentials for despotic undemocratic, trechery, and contempt for Jewish values. HERE, HERE, FOR THE SATMAR BOYS !! THEY HAVE MORE BALLS THEN THE ENTIRE KENESSET !
62. THIS WAS NO "PROTEST" YNET................
ALEXANDRA ROTHCHILD   (12.01.08)
THIS IS WHAT THEY CALL "P - R - I - N - C - I - P - L - E" YOU MIGHT LIKE TO LOOK IT UP !
63. no problem - leave him in Mumbai
Alon   (12.01.08)
let the family arrange to bring him back wherever they want and let them bury him wherever they want. If they don't want him covered in our flag...don't use OUR planes and OUR money. Knock yourself out - send your own people to guard the bodies, clean up the pieces. And for the record - I am religious. My son serves in the army - I disagree with most of the left-wing, anti-religious posts and I see on YNET...and I disagree with this family too!
64. How can someone be Jewish and not connected to Israel?
David ,   Boston, USA   (12.01.08)
It boggles my mind. I pray to Jerusalem and Israel my homeland. I also pray for my home, USA. Judaism is centered around Israel, specifically Jerusalem. I do not understand these Satmars or any Jew who isnt a Zionist. Israel our homeland, our history, our religion.
65. #62 I like you Alexandra Rothchild!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (12.01.08)
66. shmionizm
roli ,   miami beach, Fl   (12.01.08)
With all due respect to the family of the esteemed Chasid (may G-d avenge his blood). This whole issue of Zionist vs Chasid goes back to the Vilna Gaon. It's an internal struggle inside of an internal struggle like the month of Cheshvan. The vilna Gaon said that to defeat Shabtai Tzvi Jews needed to make aliyah and live righteously on the land. The Satmar & Lubavitch grew into larger local movements by promoting the more popular idea of staying right there in Russia & Ukraine. They never outnumbered the Mitnagdim until after the Shoah. Chabadnikim in Israel decide when a son will go to the Army based on family considerations. It would be nice if the Satmar could wear green every once in a while also, just reserves even would be nice.
67. #64, it's about the Messiah delivering the land to the Jews
Josh   (12.01.08)
They believe that the land of Israel can only be returned to the Jewish people by the Messiah. As such, they can be Jewish and even live in the land while rejecting the modern nation of Israel and its benefits. This isn't to be confused with Jews, mostly in the diaspora, who don't see Israel as integral to their spirituality or religiosity. I'm not making judgments on any of these things -- just saying... Rest in Peace.
68. to ignorant # 43: two of them were Druze
Rai o0f Nazareth   (12.01.08)
Unlike most religious Haridi jews, Druze DO serve in the IDF to protect the jewish state from it's enemies. Moreover, if an Israeli-Arab disagree with zionisim, does not mean he/she are anti-zionist like the Israeli- Jew mentioned in this article.....
69. #52: No, he died because he was a Jew, not an Israeli.
Menachem ,   Brooklyn, New York   (12.01.08)
The only suggestion that this was an attack on "Israeli interests" came from the Israeli government itself, which has a vested interest in coloring itself a poor victim of the global jihad. But Chabad is not an Israeli organization; it's headquarters is in Brooklyn, New York, not far from where I live. There were more non-Israeli victims there than Israeli victims. Had they been targeting Israelis, there were plenty of actual Israeli places they could have gone--the Israeli consulate, for instance, or places where post-IDF backpackers congregate. I'm not an anti-Zionist or anything, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that this really isn't an Israeli issue and the people who died are not Zionist heroes. They are Jewish martyrs who died in a Jewish religious establishment. Israel simply saw a public relations opportunity, and took it. But the Mumbai bombing was an "attack on Israeli interests" like the Gilad Shalit kidnapping was an "attack on French interests."
70. What happened to this man is so very sad
(12.01.08)
Even though I wonder that people choose to live in a country that they're not loyal to, the State should definitely respect the family's wishes and 86 the flag idea.
71. Are we missing the point?
Ben ,   NY US   (12.01.08)
I think many of us are side tracking the core issue. This was an ugly reminder that those who hate us, hate all of us, secular, hassidic, etc. If theres one ideal the blood of our innocent and the pain we felt, feel so strongly can strengthen, it is to learn to accept and respect each other. Did not the secular feel pain for the haredi? Did not the haredi feel pain for the secular? Do we need more incidents to materialize this. But we must face the reality, secular, hassidic, people are not just going to change their attitudes, were going to disagree with each other and no doubt harbor frustration toward each other. Let's just let everyone "do their thing" and focus on building ourselves and our people.
72. #52 Robert - Wrong!!! The article clearly states
meir elazar   (12.01.08)
"he wasn't an Israeli national". As such he should not be entitled to anything from the State of Israel. I would have more respect for the woman who was about to make Aliyah than this parasite who exploited the State of Israel and who at the same time was a virulent Anti-Zionist. He is entitled to absolutely nothing.
73. Israel is truly unravelling...
Al   (12.01.08)
When a rag like YNET can only sow the seeds of discontent... Israel has become a shmatta. You are a disgrace... You cant for the life of you quit the anti-religious bashing..You are disgusting. Remind me to never ever to give you a bloody dime.
74. SHAME ON YNET
disgusted   (12.01.08)
FOR USING THIS FAMILY TO SPREAD YOUR VILE HATRED. HE WAS NOT A ZIONIST. GET OVER YOURSELVES ROTTEN YNET, IT DOESNT MAKE HIM 'ANTI'
75. Saving those who can be saved. Honouring those who cannot
Menachem   (12.01.08)
this is ZAKA'S motto, as they are involved in this operation lets salute them and stick with their principles 'HONOUR' our dead and their wishes. this is not a time to bicker if an anti- zionist can board a plane back home! Lets be proud of our values of caring for each other rather then stooping to the muslim values that human blood can be washed over the floor.
76. why in Israel?
Shoshannah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.01.08)
While I don't mind if the family wants to bury Mr. Teitelbaum in Israel, since he was not actually an Israeli citizen (according to the story), why doesn't the family take him to his community in the States to bury him there? That would certainly solve their dilemma.
77. wealthy?
Hershele   (12.01.08)
Where is he wealthy from? Does he have a job? Also living here in Israel you cannot help but use the country's services-medical, electricity, buildings, and etc. Why do you call us zionists in such a hateful way? This is what we strobgly believe will save Jews from another holocaust. Life is above all... And to group us into one lump- awful! Shame on you if that is what you have become-thinking you are superior like that. Just sad sad sad...
78. Lawrence
Ilana   (12.01.08)
There are so many good people. Soldiers who are willing to die for this country so that Jews all over will be able to run here. People who quietly give to charity-not even their family knows. A teacher who hugs a sad child, a person who cries when watching terror victims, many care!!
79. Satmar
Yehudi ,   Jersalem   (12.01.08)
This sect is anti-Jewish.
80. satmar family:
debbie ,   israel   (12.01.08)
To Jacob Blues: I am not familiar with this sect's "philosophy, " but you are so right. The family is entitled to grieve, and to do things as they see fit. It is none of anyone else's business.
81. # 49 How do they not take from the State?
Bill ,   US   (12.01.08)
They wouldn't have moved from New York to Israel if there was no central government providing a civil structure to the land they are living on. They benefit from the law and order provided by the State and probably use services provided by it as well (roads, hospitals etc). Their anti-Zionism amounts to them not being of any benefit or use to the society they take from. If they were truly anti-Zionist they wouldn't live there at all.
82. kinda shocking
nr ,   los angeles, usa   (12.01.08)
I guess I shouldn't be shocked by the antireligious' hateful words, but I am. Remember, the enemy sees Israelis and Jews as one entity - Mumbai is proof that we're all in this together. Let's show some tolerance and respect here because no one is gonna worry about protecting Jews but Jews - and during the pogroms in Crown Heights some years back - it was the Satmar, long standing enemies of Chabad, who literally set up a gun line to protect chabadniks. Don't be so quick to write off the Satmar - when our back is to the wall, they might just surprise you.
83. Undurstood no
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (12.01.08)
84. David , Boston, USA, you make me.......
AVROHOM BILGREI ,   Zion   (12.01.08)
cringe ! I made Aliah because I read it in my prayers and benching each and every day ! This government is not a democracy; neither is yours, the write in vote is abandoned, get a grip on it man ! When your founding fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence and decided on REVOLUTION did there not exist a mandate to do so ? would you have said: "I do not understand " ? Indeed would you have suggested then; America is my homeland ? YOU COULDN'T BECAUSE IT WAS NOT YOUR "HOMELAND" ! It was just your "home", Israel is YOUR HOMELAND ! The POST ZIONIST of today in YOUR HOMELAND are the British of yesteryear ! They treachery of expulsion, destruction of Jewish homes, brutal beatings of unarmed youth, DEMANDS revolution that the populace are not prepared to start ! So, David "it boggles MY mind" how you can sit there 6000+ miles away and OUR homeland, OUR history, OUR religion you cavalierly discount and deem it OK for Jewish "surrogates"to cede land to our enemies, destroy residents homes and YOUR MIND IS BOGGLED when a segment of the populace would prefer not to serve their interests and public relations? THEY ARE ZIONIST, THEY’RE JUST NOT "POST "ZIONIST ! You now live in an OBAMANATION would you welcome my comments that my mind is boggled by the fact that YOU are not a Obama loving liberal(if you are all my sentiments are naught) and therefore UN AMERICAN ? Hmmmm ? When contemporary "Jews" who choose to be part of the narrative of, living among their fellow Jews, want to distance themselves from a gang of self serving power mongers you can't get it ? Is it the" costume" ? They distinguish themselves; do you or, do you just blend in? It's funny that you probably think, the world has an accent and you don't ! You no doubt believe "they’re" wearing a costume and your not ! Is that the way you like it, to just get lost in the crowed; as a member of a nation of priests, a light unto the nations, and you just want to "get lost" ? Perhaps you should get lost; and find yourself among your people, HERE IN ISRAEL ! Truth be known, my mind is not too boggled by your GOLUS MENTALITY, it just is a bit frightening that your better sense has been so burdened by the yoke of denial regarding common sense, that your view is muddled by a confusion of threads & bereft of a perspective of rational perception ! Open your eyes, look in the mirror, make Aliah, and then "boggle yourself here; you'll be among a nation of bogglers and will "FIT IN" PERFECTLY !
85. # 78 True Illana
Lawrence ,   zefat Israel   (12.01.08)
I was seeing things in a negative frame of mind, there are, amongst all the drek, very many wonderful people.
86. He loved ERETZ YISRAEL, just not MEDINAT YISRAEL
chava ,   yerushalayim   (12.02.08)
There's a different between ERETZ YISRAEL, the LAND of Israel, and MEDINAT YISRAEL, the STATE of Israel. Since the fall of our government close to 2000 years ago, we had no state, but we've always had our land to live in. Many lived in the land in modern times before the modern state was proclaimed. You can't tell people who don't want to live in this modern state that they can't live in our land. The land was given to us by HaShem, and is holy.
87. Shame on us
Eli from Jerusalem ,   Jerusalem, IL   (12.02.08)
How can you be so disgutsing at this time? This guy was not israeli, and it's normal to respect his wishes. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? The state of Israel exist from 60 years, 60 small years in our so long history. So now, jews can not live in the Land of Israel cause of the State? Even the muslim, the turkish, etc. were more open than you, small people who don't understant a word of what is to be jew. Read the Torah all of you, we can have this Land ONLY if we have the Torah... means to learn it and to respect it... 80% of jewish israeli do not deserve to live here, and G.d will show it very soon... just make tshuva, and stop to be so ignorant... for you, and for all the jews.
88. SATMAR
phil ,   Chicago, IL, USA   (12.02.08)
Idiots . There is no Eretz Yisroel without Medinat Yisroel. Another "hilul Hashem." Feh...............
89. disgraceful title!
brad s. ,   nyc   (12.02.08)
ynet should be ashamed of itself, with such a disgraceful title for someone who was martyred by our enemies simply for being a jew! shame on you!
90. Satmar Rabbi steital
Faivel Dotan ,   Canada   (12.02.08)
