31. Ariel Sharon
Alone ben Caro ,   USA   (12.01.08)
justified the removal of Israelis by telling us we would no longer be involved with Gaza. The gazans are the ones who voted for hamas leadership over Abbas. hamas bleeds its' constituancy with its' lucrative tunnel system that works only if israel continues blockades,so it is nessessary for the occasional rocket to fly so that Israel has continued motivation for the blockade. This is why the rockets dramatically increase when Israel lifts the roadblocks. The gazans wanted hamas, the gazans will have to remedy that situation or live with it. That is not Israels' problem. Gaza children are not Israels' primary concern.Israeli children are. Your logic sucks. We need to leave the gazans to lay in their own bed,...until the day comes that hamas and the rest are eliminated in toto. Let Egypt see to their needs, although the recent disallowing of gazans for the Haj does not bring favor from the rest of Islam. no matter. The safety and well being of Israels' children is the priority, not the Gazans'.
32. Orly Noy
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (12.01.08)
I don't know and I don't care to now who this Orly is, it's enough for me knowing what she is. We agree just in one point, that this government is HORRIBLE. Actually I'm wrong, I believe we agree in 2 points. Israel really needs to start worrying about La Hague. I propose to send this "lady" with a one way ticket to the Nederlands or wherever she prefers and never let her back! She can rejoy with all the anti Israelis around there and share their fate!
33. Starved of a reason for shooting at Israel
steve ,   london, england   (12.01.08)
Israel's government does not relish the idea of Palestinians feeling hunger in their guts. We all know what it feels like on Yom Kippur. The parallels are awesome but if Arabs had that much respect in 1973 the situation today would be better. The fact is Palestnians have more love of viollence against Israel in their guts than they have love of peace. It falls to UNRWA to provide the relief in this situation. Not Israel. Id Israel loosens its grip now it will inevirtably result in Palestinians getting supplies of arms, ammunition and money. It falls to the international community to provide the diplomatic pressure on Hamas and Fatah to disarm. The Palestinian authority should enact legislation to prohibit the carrying of guns and rockets etc., in public. Nobody apart from the police should be authorized to carry a weapon in public. If they get the weapons of the streets they can get them off the field where they l;aunch their terror strikes against us. If they disarm, or regulate arms like this we can move forward. How much time have UNRWA and the international community got to waste?
34. Why life in Gaza is so wretched...
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (12.01.08)
When Israel pulled out of Gaza, the world waited to see what the Palestinians would make of it, as a prelude to their having a full state including the West Bank. The first thing the Palestinians did was smash all the greenhouses the settlers had built, instead of using them to aid their economy. Then they turned Gaza into a mini-terror state, launching a war against Israel that continues to this day. And now they wonder why life in Gaza is so wretched, when it could have flourished. To those who say we should not isolate Hamas: Hamas isolated itself, with its aggression not only against Israel but also against other Palestinians. When the aggression will stop, the isolation will stop. But the aggression will never stop as long as Palestinian extremists continue to enjoy support from their self-righteous cheering section, which has chapters all over the world and in many universities and trade unions as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi7j5
35. Nothing illegal about not feeding or arming your enemies.
rebecca ,   modiin   (12.01.08)
36. Rantings from a would-be Dhimmi...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (12.01.08)
Empty statements and baseless accusations from a would-be Dhimmi. She makes statements about Israel and collective punishment against the residents of Gaza, but what about Hamas and its collective punishment against the residents of the Negev? Same double standards as usual. With people like Orly Noy in our midst, what need have we for enemies???
37. I have a solution!
Alex Belov ,   Moscow, Russia   (12.02.08)
38. what do you suggest?
chava ,   yerushalayim   (12.02.08)
Food & medical supplies & other necessities are allowed in. This is NOT a complete blockade. Israel supplies fuel and electricity which is then partly used to make rockets & weapons to use against us. Did you see the pictures of the stores in Gaza taken after one of those ships landed. The store was well-stocked. Israel's military action that you spoke of was a reaction, not just stam. What do you suggest? Shall we all move to New York, London, and Paris, and leave our land to the arabs?
39. umbeliavable
Joseph ,   Italy   (12.02.08)
I think this moron has not did military service for defend his country. Leftism is a mental desease. Out of mind, umbeliavable. She's living in Israel? Shame on her. And take her to Gaza for "immaginary starvation"
40. To #19, you reveal the reason why there is no peace
Jake   (12.02.08)
Because Arabs and Moslems refuse to recognize the legitimacy of Israel or any Jewish state, period. The summary of your post is that all Jews are bad, except the ones who put all the blame on Israel or refused to be buried wrapped in an Israeli flag. That's like me saying the only good Arabs are the ones who blame Arabs for all the problems in the world, or refuse to be buried with the flags of their countries. Well, what can I say? You make you own bed, you lie in it. There will certainly be no peace as long as people like you prevail. At least I can admire the Syrian actress for her honesty, when she said that hatred of Israel is in her genes. It is inherited from the mother's milk, and from everything they have been educated by the system since infancy, and will be handed down to future generations. As she said, she cannot help it, because "You cannot play around with genes".
41. What about Egypt?
Ramses ,   US   (12.02.08)
They hold our soldier hostage and fire missiles into our territory. Israel is unusually tolerant to limit her response to economic measures. Any other country would have flattened them out long ago Israel has an unquestionable right to choose who she wants to deal economically. Gaza is not surrounded by Israel: if they want to trade, receive goods and travel around the world, they can always address these issues with their Southern neighbor, the Egyptians. Let Egypt take care of them!
42. I have a solution!
Alex Belov ,   Moscow, Russia   (12.02.08)
There is a solution that can alleviate Ms. Orlev's anxiety and put some pressure on Gaza without starving the residents. Here: rent An-225 "Mria", the largest cargo plane ever built, from Ukraine. Load it with 250 metric tons (yes, it lifts off this much) of pigs manure purchased in Ukraine as well. Drop it on Gaza each time they lob anything at you. see how it works. The dung bombing is used with great success by the Ukrainian government against illegal coal mines. Good luck!
43. #35 Actually it it illegal
Chocko ,   NY, USA   (12.02.08)
Under the UN convention on human rights, it is illegal to punish civilians even during armed conflict, and that includes starving them.
44. #41 And if Egypt did try.
(12.02.08)
What would you do. Blame Egypt for aiding and abetting your enemies and then threaten them. Its very convenient to blame others for what you have created.
45. #13: Thanks - brilliantly put and spot on.
5th generation ,   Israel   (12.02.08)
I also suspect she's bored and lonely, and looking to put a spark in her career via shock value.
46. Ayn Rand was right
Barry ,   Tel Aviv   (12.02.08)
This is a case of Israel not only being the cannibal's dinner, but also being forced to cook it as well. If Hamas cared about the people in Aza, then it would stop the rockets from its own enlightened self-interest. Every time Israel tries to end the cycle of hatred by making an overture of peace, the Palestinians have spit in our faces. Enough is enough. Let them take care of themselves.
47. With friends like these....
Hertzel ,   Tiberias   (12.02.08)
this so called israeli writer, who needs enemies?
48. Three cheers for #13 - well said!
Talula ,   Israel   (12.02.08)
Why doesn't she take a packed lunch and go live there. Stupid Idiot!
49. Article is trashy
Ronny   (12.02.08)
I don't like to use such words, but here it's the best expression.
50. Orly lives in La La Land
I. Barr ,   Detroit,USA   (12.02.08)
There is no starvation in Gaza. Gaza has it's agriculture. Instead of flowers they can grow produce. They have a border with Egypt which Egypt closed though Egypt allows hundreds of tunnels across the border. Hamas is importing through those Grad missiles instead of babyfood. Fishermen of Gaza do not catch fish. They catch weapons and explosives. Gaza gets from UNWRA 625 dollars/soul/year free. The refugees in Darfur get only 5 (five) dollars/soul/year. The Gaza Hamas bomb crossings including fuel stations. By doing so they deliberately create shortages that are than used as a propaganda weapon. Orly must have an intellectual deficit not to recognize that. YNET too is falling into the hands of Hamas and anti Israel propagandists: What is more immoral, bombing Israeli civilians or reducing outside dependence of Gaza on supplies most of which they can produce anyhow in Gaza???
51. Human rights in Iran
I. Breshinski ,   USA   (12.02.08)
Allowing Orly Noy to publish is a travesty since it gives weapons in the hands of anti Israel/Zionist/Jewish radicals. Since she is from Iranian origin she should compare situation of Human rights in Israel and Iran. Ahmadinejad would have loved to have her. YNET is irresponsible in giving stage to those who want to destroy Israel. Together with Haaretz YNET will not be a reference for my students anymore.
52. Orly Noy is the new Paliwood star
Miriam K. Barr ,   USA   (12.02.08)
Orly Noy is the new Paliwood star. The manufecturing of "casualties" such as Al-Dura, the manufecturing of humanitarian "crisis" in Gaza has the stage of YNET. Palestinians have a very successful propaganda industry. Orly Noy is nourished by this industry and YNET is the producer director. Freedom of speech in YNET has to be accurate, fair, balanced and responsible. Freedom of speech is not a licence to kill.
53. Of course, nobody doubts the government’s right
Sam   (12.02.08)
"Of course, nobody doubts the government’s right, and even duty, to provide security for Negev residents," YOU DO!
54. Light in the Tunnel
Vic ,   Ireland   (12.02.08)
Thank Heavens for this woman's words. If more Israelis would try to look around and see the truth of where your barbaric leaders have led you, into that black tunnel of violence, then there would be a chance for peace. Please have mercy on the poor people of Gaza.
55. #54, "Israel's barbaric leaders"
Jake   (12.02.08)
The only words that can describe Israel's leaders would be excessive leniency and constant willingness to compromise beyond the realm of human logic, in the face of wall-to-wall intransigence from the other side. If you really believe this amateurish attention-seeking gloryhound's words, then it is you who are being duped. Or perhaps you are just taking an opportunity to indulge in your own bias, prejudice, and hatred.
56. Ireland and Israel #54
I. Barr ,   USA   (12.02.08)
I just came back from Belfast. The big fence between the Catholics and Protestants is still there. The drawings on the buildings glorifying terror get fresh paint from time to time. IRA is now a drug traffiking corporation and the Crown Pub is still serving Guiness beer. Pious peeing for the Palestinians is only natural to some who quickly forgot what it means to live under terror. To kill a few Jews was always preferable than may be reduce the Humus intake of some in Gaza. Hamas soldiers and operatives Vic are fed well.
57. #54 Vic.....
meg ,   Israel   (12.02.08)
now what would ya be doing if Northen Ireland started to bomb the Republic...send them crates of Guinness????
58. #46 Barry...
meg ,   Israel   (12.02.08)
we have been saying this til smoke comes out of our ears. The government in gaza is the cause of all their troubles.
59. #43
meg ,   Israel   (12.02.08)
Un is Useless Nothing. And do you know, they do get supplies and them that risk their lives taking it to them, so stuff that. they have Egypt on the other side, so where are they helping, why always Israels responsibilty. Chocko, dont beleive everything you read in the media either.
60. #43 Is it also illegal to deprive Palestinians of...
