1. Bringing Israelis home
Millicent ,   Israel   (12.05.08)
Hey what about taking care of those of us already here and that are in financial trouble without jobs or are stuck in low paying jobs? Whatbout those of us who went bankrupt due to the Lebanon summer war,the hundreds of us that lost businneses because of it, or those Settlers that still have no home! Shouldn't you take care of us first before you bring more people here?
2. Just don't let them go to Hevron and spit English at the IDF
Sheila ,   Jerusalem,Israel   (12.05.08)
3. #2 agree
Joseph ,   Israel   (12.05.08)
They should not move to Hebron or an anywhere in Judea, Samaria and Golan, including Jerusalem. They should also not move to Galilee or Negev because these are lands where Arabs should live. They should not live in the North because of Hezbolla rockets and not in the South because of Hamas rockets. Actually, since there is nowhere for them to live they should just stay where they are
4. # 1 Though I Love Them Dearly
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
Those who write from right to left have a peculiar kind of logic. You are right of course ,I thought the same.I'm all for bringing in fresh faces, after all I am one myself, but don't neglect those already here.
5. Yordim
Joe ,   afula   (12.05.08)
Please do not use my hard earned tax shekels to help these people, who have abandodned us, come home to israel. let them pay their own way! As soon as the ecrnomy gets better they will be the first ones to leave again.
6. FOR SURE...
devorah ,   Israel   (12.05.08)
THAT #2 AND # 3 ARE ARABS!!!!! THE LAND BELOGS TO ISRAEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD
7. jews returning to israel.
sas ,   israel   (12.05.08)
DO NOT HELP THEM. AS SOON AS THE SITUATION IMPROVES THEY WILL BE THE FIRST ONES TO LEAVE.
8. Joe # 5 i agree
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.05.08)
They left Israel for a better life , but now as they are in trouble ..... People see Israel as a good place when they need this , that's not so correct . If they were in danger , that's totally different , them we have to help .
9. fairs
david ,   jerusalem   (12.05.08)
give them fares
10. Return To Israel
Ronald ,   NEW YORK   (12.05.08)
You people do not understand, The Israeli government wants Israelis to return back to Israel with US Dollars, Euros & British Pounds. Anyone returning back can put together $35'000 USD and open a business in Israel and make really good money to live the good life in Israel instead of living low to middle life somewhere else.
11. I made Aliyah but left again
Brian ,   London B4 Tel Aviv   (12.05.08)
I really gave it my best shot, but I couldnt get a job and I ended up doing crappy jobs that I wouldnt dream of doing and using my British credit card to make ends meet. Despite being offered jobs all through my time in Israel, jobs in London when I was in Israel. I had to bite the bullet and give up. Unfortunately I was not the only person to make aliyah that I met and then leave. I even know a few who made Aliyah and had a 10 month holiday on the government then return. I loved my life in Israel but the romantic dream of how amazing it will be there is a bit unrealistic. Everything was great, just not being able to find a job wasn't!! They are many success stories, but many stories like mine. Before everyone slates me and calls me a English snob or whatever, I was just trying something new at 32, like if i moved to Australia or USA and thought my fluency in hebrew and masters degree in Economics would make it easier for work but sadly not for me. So I sadly agree with post numb 7, they will probably be the first to leave..
12. WHAT ABOUT US??? THE ONES LIVING HERE
John ,   Israel   (12.05.08)
DON'T WE DESERVE TAX CUTS AND SOME BENEFITS?? DON'T WE DESERVE A HELPING HAND? I WONDER IF WE WERE THE STUPID ONES, THE ONES WHO DIDN'T LEAVE, THROUGHOUT THE WARS AND HARDSHIPS AND ARMY RESERVES FOR MANY YEARS. DON'T WE DESERVE SOMETHING ?
13. # 11 Brian I Take My Hat Off To You
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
You are a fine chap sir.On no account feel bad.You had the courage to try your best and then the courage to admit it did not work out. This place, wonderful and miraculous as it is,is just impossible most of the time.If it wasn't so damned hard ,the Mitzva of residing here would be much less.People come here with sentiments and dreams only to have them systematically crushed. You were not the first, you will not be the last.If anybody criticises you then I say " Nuts "to them.
14. #11 Brian,You Can't Make A Silk
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
Purse from a Sow"s Ear ,or whatever the stupid saying is.Many who were top dogs elsewhere ended up washing dishes here.At least you tried...some have tried ,some have died but few have succeeded.
15. # 12 John ,You And I Deserve
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
A kick in the Beitzim 'cause that's all we're likely to get.Get yourself some"Protectsia" my friend and all will be well...
16. # 12 John I never Had Much Luck Here
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
The lady at the Jewish Agency told me" Motek,if life gives you Lemons go make Lemonade" so I did just that .I started to invent Lemonade style drinks ,especially for the hot Israeli summers.I invented 3-up then 4-up,5-up but I gave up after 6-up...
17. #11 A New Place Takes A Lot Of
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
Getting used to.It takes years and years to properly adjust. My mistake was to compare to what I knew before. You can't really do that. This is not London or New york, nor should it try to be.
18. Ronald , don't you have 35,000 US$ ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.05.08)
So why do you stay there ?
19. Brian , you know why you left ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.05.08)
Because , as you wrote : "i was just trying something new at 32 , like if i moved to Australia or USA . No , making Alyah is not like moving to Australia or USA . It's coming HOME . It's not "trying something new" , it's going to live in your own country .
20. Move to Israel, or stay here?
Motek ,   Some city, Europe   (12.05.08)
I wanted to move to Israel, but my Israeli wife told me that I won't have a chance at getting a decent job there, and that the pay will be crap. So we decided to live here, in a capitol somewhere in northern Europe. I fear that life won't be easy for our (future) kids when they have to start at school - being the only jews amongst palestinian supporting european kids and muslim descendants of immigrants...
21. #11 Three Things Are Only Bought
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
With suffering: A place in the World to come, Torah ,and a place in the Land of Israel...(I Don't consider myself religious by the way but I do know this famous teaching).
22. Aliyah
edy ,   miami , fl   (12.05.08)

23. We are here now what?
Robert Goldman ,   kfar saba Israel   (12.05.08)
ok we came . where are the jobs? where is the support, the misrad ha kleta doesn't kolet, misrad ha avoda lo oved.... if you are over 50 you are screwed, open a company they say,, in this economy? who is the bigger nutter? them for saying this? or me for leaving the states to come back home? me thinks it's both,
24. # 23 Smile You're On Candid Camera
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
Don't wish to come across as insulting but you are both Nutters. You should have read the small print and not believed the hype.Confucius say: "It Good To Trust But Better Not To Trust".
25. #23 Now You Are Here You're On your
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
Own sucker.I am here to tell you the good news THEY don't want you to hear.Jewish Agency ,Nefesh B'Nefesh etc.have little concrete to offer in way of gainful Employment, with the emphasis on"Gainful".Had they told you this beforehand you'd never have bothered to come right? But,to be fair, they never promised a Rose Garden neither. As they say in Hebrew,"Ze Ma Yesh'" that's the way it is. The country is 60 years old and war torn and one should not expect too much.
26. #23 There Is Little Promotion This
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
side of the ocean, not unless you have serious connections buddy.By the way Israelis still have the notion, they never lost it,that all you Gringos are millionaires.Hence the "why don't you open up your own Business" routine,to which the appropriate reply is"why don't you jump off a cliff sweetie". Seriously now, good luck and remember ...every silver lining has a cloud( or is it the other way around? .Nil Desperandum,do not despair.G-d is only ever a Telephone call away, just try to avoid calling "collect."
27. # 23 I'm Still Laughing
Lawrence Tendler ,   Safed Israel   (12.05.08)
Boy did you make a mistake.Seriously,it is a big Mitzva to live here ,but that's about it.
28. NO WAY!!
Israeli Refugee ,   Long Island, USA   (12.05.08)
I should go from potentially being poor in America to definitely being poor in Israel? I should go from a high-paying dream job for which I spent 10 years in college and graduate school to having no job, or a terrible job, in Israel's perpetually unstable economy? I should pull my kids out of some of the world's best public schools in the NY area and send them to substandard Israeli "schools"? I should stop frequenting the prestigious university hospital that treats my chronic disease and put my life in the hands of dubiously trained emigre physicians at some Clalit clinic? What's in this for me? The joy of wondering if my kids will be murdered by a terrorist released as part of an Israeli "goodwill gesture"? The joy of watching a cowardly nation do nothing as it gets bombed from the Gaza Strip? The joy of having to watch the secular-vs.-haredi nonsense for the rest of my life? The joy of getting shoved onto busses, cut in line, and ripped off by businesspeople? The pleasure of having to go into debt with "tashlumim" every time I need to buy something pricey? Or maybe it's that feeling of pride you get watching your 4 kids, wife, and mother-in-law share a small, cramped 2-bedroom apartment because that's what Israel's punitive tax structure permits people to afford. Hmmmmm...I think I'll pass. Economic crises end, and when this one does, those people who fled back to Israel so they could mooch off of a willing socialist government are going to go right back to their comfortable lives in the USA, Canada, EU, and Australia.
29. You guys have money for everyone...
Al   (12.05.08)
Goyim who pretend they are Jewish who have soaked you over the past 17 years. Arabs who have been soaking you and killing you 24/7 over the past 60 years. Ran away Yordim who cry buckets after they have left you only to cause havoc in their new adopted countries..When the road gets tough they come back to you looking for a hand out. Pretend frummies who dont want to work as they have an excuse that G-d needs them. Kipputzim who pretend they are master farmers growing a turnip from a potato. The list just goes on and on. Let me ask the simple question...Does anyone in that place actually work for a living, or do they just pretend? Gee you've been running your own bailout program forever. Must be steady work running those presses.
30. How about the Jewish Agency giving JOBS to all that made
telavivit ,   Israel   (12.05.08)
Aliyah!!!!!! Many are here with out jobs.... Or need to lower themselves and work for companies that promote sex -drugs and gambling!!!!!!!!!
