When Hamas was sending suicide bombers into Israel during the intifada, deliberately targeting civilians, in cafes, buses, markets, night-clubs, etc. these incidents made a brief headline & were gone before the day was out. There was no outcry, no international outrage, no UN involvement, no diplomats flying around trying to prevent such attacks. The only real consequence was a lot of Jews sitting shiva for murdered loved ones, a lot of ruined lives while Palestinians passed out sweets, rejoicing in death. Yet somehow you feel more sympathy for those that perpetrated those horrors, for those that deliberately provoked a military response, & try to misplace the ultimate responsibility for the consequences. Israel had told the Palestinians many times that they would pay a heavy price if they continued the rocket attacks. Israel has been saying it for a long time. The time came, after seeing no change, to get into action. The Palestinians pay no attention to Israel's warnings. They obviously want as much killing of civilians and destruction of civilian targets as possible-it's their only way to garner sympathy and money. Strange how no one says anything about the Palestinians' lack of any action to protect their civilians-women, children, old men are right there in the streets next to gunmen. The prize for propaganda goes to the Palestinians once again. And the heads of state who have large Muslim populations in their countries, of course, speak up in defense of the Palestinians, to prevent riots in their own streets. It's way too much propaganda. Meanwhile, everyone blames Israel, for taking decisive action to stop rockets raining on its cities. As if accepting rockets on their heads makes good sense and they should accept it as part of life!

If it is true that 40 civilians died due to shelling of UNRWA school then the campaign is effectively over. There will be outrage in the United States and all over the World that will force the U.S. to pressure Israel to stop the massacre. Like many Jews and Israelis and many people around the world I would have liked Israel to stop the incursion against Gaza and avoid civilian casualties. I agree with Yossi that we have the right to defend ourselves, however this seems an un-winnable war with dire consequences. I would like the Israeli government to avoid any civilians casualties and stop a collective punishment against the Palestinian people. We as Israelis and Jews around the world would like to see an end to this senseless violence. As a father myself I wouldn't like to see my little kids hurt, so understandingly even though Israel has the right to defend it's borders and against the rockets fired daily from Gaza I feel for Innocent people trapped there. The deaths of noncombatants has never been the objective of western countries in the modern era. However, before the anti-Israel crowd jumps to conclusions, perhaps they should pause and take a breath. First, the claim the school was hit by Israelis comes from Hamas. Who would have the most to gain from such an incident? Hamas would. So, would they be tempted to "distort" or "create" such an incident for propaganda purposes? Does anyone remember the "dead" boy shown on French TV? Court investigations in France showed that the entire scene was faked and done so to illicit a sympathetic response from westerners. Lesson here? Don't get sucked in. Further, how does a single artillery shell collapse an entire school? I have some experience with explosives and their effects. It would have required a very large shell or some kind of special munition--Fuel Air--to have the power to even come close. Additionally, were there secondary explosions? If so, then this was no "school". Historically, various twisted goverenments have deliberately placed non-combatants in or on military targets. I give you Saddam Hussein as one example. Hamas has used similar tactics in the past. This may prove to be another example. In otherwords, if you have assumed this is an Israeli driven atrocity, then you are most likely either responding from bias or acting without all the facts.
