I have been reading and following the problems in Israel since the mid 90’s, to date I do not know of any instance were Israel has started or threatened anyone without undue cause. Labeling somebody as terrorist in wars about disputed territories is all time relative. Each side is calling the other terrorist, and this happened during all the conflicts since this word comes to common usage in 20th century. For Israelis, Nasrallah and Hamas militants are terrorists, but for the Lebanese and Palestinians, they are freedom fighters. Israel is now fighting Hamas, and they are discussing a truce indirectly with Hamas (through the French-egiptian initiative). Does this situation not make Israel in a contradictory situation, by dealing even idirectly with an organization labelled as terrorit?

Hizbullah handed the IDF a crushing defeat in 2006. Israelis can talk tough all they want but the IDF left that conflict with nearly 1/4 of ALL Merkava tanks, "the most sophisticated main battle tank on the planet", damaged or destroyed. The fact is that Hizbullah displayed superior tactics. Overwhelming IDF ground forces, damaging/destroying scores of Merkavas, repelling an elite IDF rescue squad... Israel's response was to attack civilian infrastructure, schools, hospitals and homes. Israel showed their weakness, even desperation, with those tactics. Inept against Hizbullah, they turned towards attacking the civilian populace. Sorry, but the IDF would likely find themselves in the same position again if they mix it up Hizbullah now.
