The mere fact that 30 rockets fell on Israel, the Hamas Prime Minister appears on TV, the smuggling of weapons and retraining will begin probably tomorrow suggest that Israel's objective in the war were not met. To that add: the irreparable damage to Israeli reputation world-wide, the the awakening of the Arab peoples from a dormant decade and the exposure of those collaborating with Israel... as well as antagonizing erstwhile allies like Turkey... One wonders how and what did Israel win? Just because Prime Minister Olmert said so?

We did not totally destroy Hamas or even most of the missile launchers. We did not bring back Gilad Shalit. Soon Iran and other countries will rebuild Gaza and we will be back where we started from.

The Palestinians were crying and begging Israel to stop. The crossings should remain closed. 'basic needs for our people"? They had the chance to give the Palestinians basics - but they chose to feed them rockets instead. We should hermically seal all the borders - and let them get on with it. And if one more rocket comes from Gaza, then really, we are left with the only choice of bulldozing Gaza into the sea. Israel, and every single country in the world has had enough of them.

Only in Gaza, where Hamas fighters hide behind babies and diapers, and aprons and toothless men, and in mosques, hospitals, schools and U.N. compounds, and whine and cry about how ruthless soldiers are to root them out and kill them, and then beg the world to stop the onslaught, can a leader who hides in another country declare "victory". Hamas once again has proved it will willingly sacrifice the Palestinian people for its own selfish purposes -- power and politics. Hamas is disgusting. The Israelis should stay and kill every last one of the Hamas terrorists.

If you actually care to check the facts, you would see Israel was much more modest in its war aims than in 2006. It is a fact that Israel at no point announced it would topple or destroy Hamas in this war. Remember how this war was started. It started because Hamas decided NOT to extend the 6 month ceasefire, and instead to resume firing rockets on Israel. As a result of this war, Hamas has been forced to accept the ceasefire on terms that suit Israel. And the world's condemnation's of Israel do not translate into support for Hamas. So you are simply wrong. Hamas has been defeated, roundly.

This war broke out because Hamas declared the ceasefire with Israel finised and resumed firing on Israel. Now, it announces it will start a new ceasefire, having been clobbered by Israel. Hamas lost. QED.
