1. Come to Israel!
Dato ,   Israel, Ukraine   (02.01.09)
This is the only home you'll feel safe. And you will feel that you really belong to this land.
2. To the Turkish Jews:
Vladimir ,   Jerusalem   (02.01.09)
When I came on alliyah 19 years ago, a Jew from Istambul, with whom I studied Hebrew at the ulpan, said that he would soon return to Turkey and explained that he and other Jews felt very comfortable there as respected citizens, without a hint of anti-semitism. Even then I doubted that it was true. And now I say to my Jewish brothers from Turkey: leave this damned country immediately for Eretz Israel like we, the Russian Jews, did not so long ago. G-d wants us all to be here, in the Land that He promised to the Jewish people.
3. please come home!!!
Ilana   (02.01.09)
To all Turkish Jews! Please make aliyah and come to your homeland! For 2000, Jews have been praying "next year in Jerusalem". Now the time is ripe!! The same goes for Jews in Spain, France, Italy, south Africa, and England. You are not welcome there, but you are badly wanted and needed here!! Let them deal with theriseofIslam in Europe while we dealwith building and improving our country. We need you!
4. Make aliyah or come to Australia. We'll have you!
Australian Guy   (02.01.09)
5. Scared to be identified as Jews
rami   (02.01.09)
For some reason, Gaza and Palestine is becoming the most talked about subject in Turkey. The 1 minute silence for the Paletinians, observed in the Turkish schools is very starnge to see. Turkey had a terrible earthquake, Turkey had a large number of its people and soldiers die in the fight against terror, and never had such things. To me the whole thing seems to be a way to divert peoples attention from the economical crisis to something else.
6. Alternative
Choni Davidowitz   (02.01.09)
Turkish Jews should join a Chabad community. They will "comfort " them with their slogan "Mach doh Eretz Yisrael" Contemplate: Chabad use this slgan all over the Diaspora, even murderous Berlin. Makes you "sick" does'nt it?
7. Make Aliyah
Brana Lobel ,   Israel   (02.01.09)
There is nothing for you there. You see how quickly people turn against you. Come here and be with your kinfolk of the Jewish people. We welcome you and know that you will be a great addition to our country. Come quickly.
8. So come home.
Leah ,   Israel   (02.01.09)
You will be part of the majority here with your head held high BH
9. Make Aliyah
Jeff ,   San Antonio   (02.01.09)
It is hard to understand how Jews can live in Germany and it makes me sick to hear of Jews from the former Soviet Union to come to Germany as refugees. To live in a Moslem Country as a Jew isn’t much better or even worse. So pack up and make Aliyah for the sake of your children and grandchildren.
10. Leave Turkey, come home to Israel!
Ze'ev ,   Haifa   (02.01.09)
11. no such thing as a moderate muslim
(02.01.09)
12. Old news Jews are already leaving
Ben yaacov ,   herzliya   (02.01.09)
This has been quietly happening for the last 10 years. Ever since the now banned Virtue Party won elections the writing has been on the wall. Most Turkish Jews leave soon after graduation looking for work in N. America or Australia. Very few go to Israel, they speak English and are well educated looking for professional placement. Interestingly Europe is rarely considered. When you talk to Turkish Jews it is always the same story they want a safe harbour, Europe is seen as an increasingly hostile envirionment and they don't want to have to move a second time. The community now the second largest in the Middle East exceeding Iran is in decline. However like Iran deaths now exceed births, because of there are so few 20-40s.
13. stop killing
highesteem ,   Ankara/Turkey   (02.01.09)
Dear İsraelis, You and the Palestinians should stop killing each other. The world is large enough for all of us to live peacefully. God bless you.
14. it is a big liar.
kerem şalom ,   istanbul   (02.01.09)
i am a jewish and i know the Turks cannot do it. this news is a gossip. there is no circumtances in Turkey.
15. Australia is not the answer. There are many
Dan ,   USA   (02.01.09)
who hate the Jews in Australia. Israel is the only answer . Sooner or later all of us would have to move to Israel.
16. We must start working toward recognition of the Armenian
Lisa ,   USA   (02.01.09)
genocide.
17. Why can the Arabs have 22 states and the Kurds none?
Bill ,   USA   (02.01.09)
Long Live an Independent State of Kurdistan!
18. Erdogan is traumatising Turkey
(02.01.09)
Once Erdogan is removed from power and a secular democratic party takes office in Turkey again everything will go back to normal. Erdogan and his party are encouraging this nonsense for their election campaign. Before betraying Ataturk's Turkey even more, this man must be gone otherwise his party will turn Turkey into Iran gradually.
19. #16, unfortunately, that prob won't happen
Mike ,   Atlanta USA   (02.01.09)
What with Turkey buying so much US weaponry. We'll have to wait for Ron Paul to be President =)
21. About Kurds and #17
(02.01.09)
Why do some talkbackers think Kurds will be friendly to Israel? Just because now you are angry with Turkey's PM, does that make a good reason to believe that Kurds are or will be Jew/Israel friendly? Some of the anti-Israeli banners at the demonstrations in Turkey are written in Kurdish. Most of the Kurdish population are religious and supportive of Palestinian militant groups. Kurds almost 100 percent support Erdogan. Before the 2003 invasion the only Islamist group in Iraq was Kurdish al-Ansar group. Be careful when you decide who to support and why.
22. #1 - safe
Avi ,   Rotterdam   (02.01.09)
I never knew Israel was a safe place...
23. In Poland... the same...
Fearfull ,   Yoiu know   (02.02.09)
'Scared to be identified as Jews'
24. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE MISSING TILL YOU LEAVE
SIMPLE MAN ,   USA   (02.02.09)
THE JEWS OF THOSE LANDS DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MISSING TILL THEY LEAVE THOSE DAR-OL-ISLAM FOR THE MOSLEMS RESPECTFULLY,
25. The Turks will never change, they are first and foremost mosl
AnArmenian ,   Jerusalem   (02.02.09)
All this Turkey-Israel friendship is just BS the Turks are Muslims, and they will always favor other Muslims.Israel should make use use of Turkey if it can,but make sure that your back is covered.
26. Come on over
russel ,   tlv   (02.02.09)
You'd be most welcome
27. Don't think about making Aliyah
Mark ,   Maale Adumim   (02.02.09)
Don't think about making Aliyah, make Aliyah as soon as possible. The Jews in Germany did not think and unfortunatly went to their deaths. Our gates are open for you, welcome home.
28. Kurds, Armenians. Greeks...
Mikhael ,   Haifa, Israel   (02.02.09)
Turkey has a long history of oppression. The genocide of one million Armenians comes to mind. Occupying Kurdish lands and staying completely divorced to the idea of an independent Kurdish state. Ethnically cleansing parts of Cyprus of Greeks. Just a few in the long line of Turkey picking the wrong side. Question for all Turks who are so "sympathetic" to Palestinians: when you controlled the land for over 500 years, why did you never give the Palestinians an independent nation-state? We are willing to do something that you, the British, the Jordanians, and the Egyptians were never willing to do-grant the Palestinians their own sovereign nation (in addition to Jordan, which is 70% of Palestine). I have no problem with the Turkish people, I appreciate your past support-just don't regress to becoming another blind Israel-hating nation.
29. Jews in Turkey
Moshe-Simcha ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (02.02.09)
The article may reflect the experiences of one Jew here. I have never made up my mind as to whether Turkish Jews are paranoid or have a deeper knowledge of the realities than me. I have been here for 9 years. Turkish Jews have advised me not to fly the Israeli flag on Yom Ha'atzmaut; not to wear tshirts with hebrew or jewish themes; not to wear the magen david bandges on my coats, and not to identify myself as a Jew. I have done and do all these things and I'm still alive. Yes, there have been moments when people looked at me oddly, but that is part of all foreigners experience here. There are high emotions about 'Muslim Brothers' here and there is a growing Islamic bent to politics and society...yes, it is concerning. But, local Jews are very difficult to get to...I've been to synagogues around the world and experienced all sorts of security, but here is special. Highlights include going to hear the Megilla at Neve Shalom on Purim and going through astonishing processes...then, the only people in the congregation were a couple of foreign Jews and a group of Israeli tourists. I have never been invited for a meal after synagogue by a Turkish Jew. In 9 years! The general position of minorities here is not great, but the government is bringing in laws to allow us to have our religious holidays off with the same status as Muslims...it's already the case for students. Happy to offer more if wanted...
30. #28 Great analysis! Toda Roba...no Turk will answer
Anti-Semitic Turkey ,   from the USA   (02.02.09)
your questions because they have no answers. When it comes to Israel/Jews the irrational side of the brain is totally suppressing the rational side of the brain. Obviously, the Ottomans are not immune to the virus that has afflicted so many other nations/people.
