Where are the laws against discrimination in housing? In NY, they could absolutely be sued for such behavior. I am disgusted by any form of racism and generalizing and will not be party to it. The only people I'd avoid living near are people who speak like those interviewed for this article. My apartment will be up for sale/ rent in a few months. It is 120 metres, on the road to the Holiday Inn, in the lovely Afridar / Barnea neighbourhood, very close to the Absorption Centre where many Ethiopian olim live, and they are welcome to view it and buy / rent it. As a teacher at high school and college, I know personally tens - possibly, hundreds- of Ethiopians who are happily absorbed in Israeli society, including a number of mixed Ethiopian -white couples in Israel - (also the Ethiopian - Russian mix). From my experience, the younger generation is on the whole racism-free. So despair not!

I am proudly black and I live in a city where a lot of horrible things happened to the jews people becaue they were different culturally, religeosly, and in look. If this type of open discrimination is not illegal in Israel, i don't know what to say. I am losing all the respect and sympathy I had to Israel. I just came back from 20 years in the states, the last company I worked for had a majorrity of black workers, Hatians, jamacians, and american. we also had a large latino crew. I for close to two years was the only Jew there. only once did anyone mention the fact in a bad way and they were fired 30 seconds after they opened up with the race stuff. I will say that being in the minority the few whites there did get a little greif from some workers but those folks didn't last long either. you see 99% of us were color blind to the fact that we had differant skin color. we did take note of stuff like food and music. but never in the negitive way that I'm seeing here. This racist garbage needs to be cleared from the country and those that follow racist rules must also leave,,,

I'm appalled by the fact that so much hatred indeed exists in a social being millions of years after homo -erectus. These sort of social group should not be allowed to form a cancerous mole in the mist of a democratic social order. It is a reminiscent of the anti Semitism that claimed millions of European Jews and it should not be allowed to spread its venom any further. Ethiopians are known for possessing tremendous self respect and respect for others, regardless of national origin or anything of that sort. It is a shame which part of Russia or the planet earth this group immigrated from. Most of the Russians are not even Jews. As another reader said, their racist attitudes belong back in Russia, not in Israel. I wonder what the Russians in Israel say about Jews among themselves.
