1. when will he take no for an answer
zionist forever   (02.27.09)
Kadima have more seats than Likud. Liberman is already showing signs he feels closer to Livnis way of thinking than Netanyahus. To get Kadima on board he is going to have to abandon either religious or nationalist parties. He has already offered her a power of veto over policies now to get her he is willing to make even more concessions. He is embaresing himself he has at least two meetings where she has rejected his offers so far and he keeps going back for more. Netanyahu will wear the crown but Livni will be the real power behind the throne so we satisfy both egos. We will have another left wing government thanks to Netanyahus desperation to betray the right wing majority. Its been over two weeks now since the elections and we are no closer to forming a government than we were before the election itself. This country really is the circus of the region. It doesnt do democracy very well because of the pathetic coalition system. It doesnt do dictaitorship very well either. It also doesn't have a royal family to run the place We have taken the worst aspects of every political system in existence thown it all into a big pot and created something unique to Israel that doesn't work either.
2. Bibi, leave the Haredim out and all will be well!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.27.09)
Mr. Netanyahu, we will never forget the harm you did during your previous stint as Prime Minister, particularly to the old, the sick and the handicapped. Never forget we Jews NEVER forget but you have the power NOW to fix things up once and for all and we might even forgive you a little. We Kadimah supporters don't like the idea of you as PM but it appears that you convinced the extreme right to vote for you. They won the election, not Likud. OK, we can live with that provided the Haredim are out! You should consider what it will mean to the country if you form a coalition with Kadimah and Israel Beiteinu. It would be even better if Labor was to join but Barak will be permanently deafened by the screams of Shelly Yachimovich. A coalition of 81 seats in the Knesset and you can change the world! Mr. Netanyahu, your idea of National Unity is a pipe dream and you know it! If there are two of our brethren then there are at least four opinions! The reforms are vital to this country and the right to marry whom you want to is a basic human right. I do not advocate "Easy Conversion" but no government has the right to tell anyone whom they may share their lives with. I do not ask for mixed marriage to be recognized by the Rabbinate but I do expect the State to recognize it and to stop the waste of money our young people pay out in order to get married overseas. Not allowing two people of different religions to marry is tantamount to "Apartheid" in its real sense. You yourself said that Electoral Reform is essential and you also know very well that Shas and the United Torah Judaism Party will never allow you to change the status quo if they are in the coalition. So, Mr. Netanyahu, for once put you money where you mouth is and do what is best for Israel and not what is best for political ambitions!
3. Good for you, Livni
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (02.27.09)
Let the world see how rejectionist Netanyahoo and his coalition is.
4. Likud No Partner for Peace...
Observer   (02.27.09)
and if Netanyahu manages to form next government, it means Israel No Partner for Peace.
5. Netanyahu is afraid of true changes.
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (02.27.09)
This will pass as long as he keeps firm with the seemingly trustfull govt that has being formed. Shas,Beitenu,National Union are far more realistic and trustfull than Livni, and I say only Livni(and not Kadima) because she is the only deluded man(excuse me please,Livni)remaining out of the dead Kadima(B'ezrat Hashem). A last word about Livini and her statement "Senior Kadima officials clarified that Netanyahu's commitment to a peace process was insufficient, stressing that the world now views the Annapolis process as the foundation of any negotiations." Why does this little woman /man cares so much about the world? Doesn't she have something of her own to fight for?
6. The World and the Annapolis Process
MC ,   UK   (02.27.09)
Thank goodness Bibi has stuck to this guns on the 2 states for 2 people issue. May it remain that way Livni is so blind to the reality, in fact there were 2 articles on ynet yesterday confirming that this was not the time for 2 states for 2 people. Livni has a short memory, she has forgotten that at Annapolis the Arabs wouldn't even go through the same door as her! She talks about the world and the Annapolis process, like a child seeking attention. Where is her self respect? The government's job is to protect the people not put them in further danger by negotiating away the land She's much more dangerous than the right wing parties.
7. That's a relief then....
Neil Turner ,   Watford, UK   (02.27.09)
I am so pleased that Bibi has not caved in to the Two State pressure I like Livni, but anyone who seeks to divide the Land is going against God's will He promised the Land of Israel to the People of Israel as an "everlasting possession" He promised to bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you A message to the people of Israel - don't worry about World pressure. The problems they face are a direct consequence of their meddling with Israel. The Lord God of Israel jealously guards you, so be strong and of good courage
8. Livni's #1 priority - non-Israeli Arabs
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (02.27.09)
Livni's declared red line at this important meeting? Not the economy, not the Jews she forcibly deported from Gaza, not Israel's security, not the ruin of the ed. system that Kadima has wrought under their anti-Zionist, anti-Torah ideologue Tamir, - none of this. She only wants to continue the insanity of giving Islamofascists more land from which to shoot missiles into israel, in the hope that they will suddenly become our friends. Ciao, Tzipi!
9. #4
gedaliah   (02.27.09)
Please tell me what this "peace" is? Is it that Israle should give up on its historical right to Biblical Israel and have it replace with terrorist with rockets? One other thing: If we did want to pursure this so called "peace", who would Israel's partner be? There are no "moderate" arabs. There are two kinds: One (hamas) that fight activly through bloodshed in order to destroy Israel and the other (PLO) who seeks destruction by negotiating land. We see what happened with the American Indians when they negotiated land for peace. This "Peace" is nothing but a means to destroy the Jewish People.
10. Hey Bibi, we don't want Livni!
Israel   (02.27.09)
Good rideness to bad rubbish.
11. Childrens Story
Gideon Reader   (02.27.09)
,...so you see Motek? Prayers CAN help. Tinkerbell is going to be OK. That's her chair over there. In the far corner, where she can sulk and "oppose" whatever it is she is opposing. And Bibi? He will be able to have a shiny NEW government with only a threat from his own right. But my lovey, he can keep good thoughts in his head. Is'nt THAT a good thing? J'lem can stay the capitol of the Jewish people for a bit longer. No more Ronit and Yossi thrown out of their houses and their land given away for rockets to be shot at you kiddies, Saba and Savtah. No more giving away a B-I-G piece of land to some nasty people who hate us and make the Red Alert go off. Now be a good child and go watch TV. But NOT that violent stuff where they kill poor Assud the Bunny. Ahhh. Times are so interesting, I could really go for some Chinese take away.
12. Way to go Tzipi!!
Edan ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.09)
Very pleased to see that she has stuck to her principles and now the world can see just what Bibi's true intentions are. He does not intend to move forward - only backwards, just like he did the first time he was PM.
13. A pity
LarryT ,   K.Sava   (02.27.09)
Someone has to stop the destruction of Israel by the Haredim. The country voted overwhelmingly center. A government of Likud, Kadima, Labor and Yisrael Beitenu is exactly what Israel needs, wants and voted for.
14. LIVNI MISLEAD VOTERS ABOUT 50% LAND GIVE AWAY
Nudnik   (02.27.09)
Yes, that's what she says will solve all the problems, and she stated that clearly ...AFTER the election of course. She has mandates that don't belong to her. She bullshitted the electorate big time.
15. Tzipi
(02.27.09)
Mrs. Clean is a Fraud...as Caroline Glick so aptly phrased it. Livni is a whole lot less ideologically motivated than she'd like people to believe. We'll just have to forge ahead without her and her closest colleagues...
16. LIVNI IS UNFIT TO SERVE ANY GOVERNMENT
stude ham   (02.27.09)
with her views on israel's decimation... who needs this enemy within our ranks?
17. livni insults G-d
Petra ,   USA   (02.27.09)
Gaza should be enough of an eye opener, even Peres admitted the huge mistake by entrusting Gaza to rule themselves when in truth, the rocket firing loonies still attack Israel by either rockets or mortars. JUST KEEP THE LAND. ALL OF IT!
18. Mixed feelings
Sam ,   Canada   (02.27.09)
Palestinian insistence on useless resistance through bombs and missiles denies them the possibility of a state by pushing Jews to the right. For Jews there must be mixed feelings. On the one hand Jews lose the possibility of peace. (if it exists?). On the other hand is it right for Jews to sign away biblical territory given by G-d? In their violence, Palestinians effectively decide for the Jews
19. PLEASE, PLEASE, I AM BEGGING YOU LIVNI JOIN WITH ME
USA   (02.27.09)
PATHETIC FOOL.
20. Livni standing with Kadima's voters
Yaeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.09)
Had Livni agreed to coalition with Likud, given the stances and partners Likud has chosen to include in its government, it would have been a massive betrayal of all those who voted for Kadima. Thank you Livni for staying with your principles and ours! Finally, a politician we can trust to not sell out for personal gain and a nice ministerial portfolio for themselves.
21. Jordan is Palestine, Ms. Livni!!
Habiba abu el-Sukkar ,   Jordan   (02.27.09)
22. Great! Kadima will now disintegrate!
Jane ,   Tel Aviv, Isael   (02.27.09)
Livni is trying to be Machiavellian, but has not the intellect, political savvy, prowess, or indeed influence that the media have made her believe she actually has. However, Mofaz will now rejoin Likud (as defense minister) and take 10 Kadima members with him. Kadima and Labour will eventually merge and Tzippi wil never become prime minister. And all this because she can't manage anything (yet alone a political party). All she cares about is being PM. She puts personal ambition above the good of the country - but then this is what Kadima has been about from the start. Livni's policies are most certainly not those of Sharon. The new government will almost certainly last 4 years (as opposed to what the spin doctors in the press are telling us) and the left will be even smaller after that time - perhaps 3 or 4 seats. This will not be extreme right government, and will represent some 70% of the Jewish voters in the last election. Goodbye Kadima. You will be remembered along with Olmert in the garbage can of history.
23. This has NOTHING to do with principles.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.27.09)
This is plain old political maneuvering on both sides. Netanyahu saw advantage in including Kadima in a coalition. Livni sees greater advantage in not joining & I suppose some in Kadima agree with her. She made a political calculation. Without getting into details, principles are the LEAST of any obstacle to a unity gov't. Our politicians, generally, are a bit short on principles.
24. Livni is a woman.
Joshua ,   Jerusalem   (02.27.09)
As all women all round the world, she is emotionally unstable. If she had a second thought she might have found that to be part of the government is not such a "bad" deal as her emotions whisper her. Livni, go home! Your home wait you. You've, I bet, forgotten what what does the word "home" means. Go..Go. It's for good.
25. Livni Won't Join
Ariyeh ,   JHB., S. Africa   (02.27.09)
What is the alternative to the two state solution - more land for more settlements, more Palestinian resistance , more terrorism and more isolation & global anti-Israel feeling ?
26. #24 - "all women emotionally unstable..."
andy ,   ramat hasharon   (02.27.09)
You are a big fat RETARD.
27. Kadima/Labour:Epitome of sore losers!
Arie ,   BaGolan   (02.27.09)
They should be reminded that the MAJORITY of Israeli voters - Jew and Arab - voted AGAINST them continuing their failed appeasement oriented policies: Livni was more concerned with satiating qurei's personal needs;olmert trying to stay out of jail;barak too scared to engage the enemy;and all of us tired of vilnai lambasting the residents of the Negev for "whining" during their demands that the State provide what it is required to - their safety!
28. David in Carmiel:You are both offensive AND repugnant!
Arie ,   BaGolan   (02.27.09)
As a SECULAR Jew, let me remind you of a simple fact of this election: The overwhelming majority of Israelis stated openly - through the ballot box - that they are fed up with your attitudes! This is not a government of the extreme right, but of the people. kadima/labour lost for their policies: appeasement; letting Israeli Arabs run rampant in the schools with PLO and hamass flags; authorizing funding for an exclusively "arab city" while the thought of Jews doing the same would, in your opinion, be an "exxtremisst right wing" position. Are electoral reforms needed? OF COURSE! But to attack the Haredim as a group is morally reprehensible and offensive. It puts you in the same league as tibi and baradei! Good luck in your hatreds! But Israel has spoken - and secular and religious alike have said it clearly: a definitive change from livni is demanded and NOW!
29. Joshua #24-another village missing its idiot!
Arie ,   BaGolan   (02.27.09)
I do believe you'd be more welcome in saudi or taliban-land where women in their bhurqas know their place. Leave our wonderful women be and let us appreciate their intelligence, their abilities, and their strengths. AND YES I WILL SAY IT HERE..AND PROUDLY...ISRAELI WOMEN ARE THE MOST INTELLIGENT INDEPENDENT AND BEAUTIFUL WOMEN IN THE WORLD. Whew..I needed to get that out. Now pack up Joshua and GO GO!Go for all our good!
30. The ELS Bible codes at www.arkcode.com indicate
Rivkah   (02.27.09)
Ms. Livni or Mr. Netanyahu will be smited with consumption (lung disease like tuberculosis). The phrase intersects Livni's name and is above Netanyahu's name. Tuberculosis spores can be inhaled even on an airplane. So both should wear a personal air filter around their necks when flying. Taking 2cc Vitamin O stabilized liquid oxygen in 8 ounces of filtered water a day elevates tissue (lymphatic system) oxygen levels to help prevent diseases. Apparently there is going to be an attack on one or both of them that affects the lungs. Taking a dropperful daily of USNEA tincture or extract is helpful in repairing the lungs slowly. I wonder if a biological weapon is going to be used on Israeli's leaders or on Israel. There are devices that can detect bacterial, viral, or parasitic attacks that should be used in offices where Livni and Netanyahu go. HEPA filters with UV light should filter their air in buildings at work and at home and on airplanes and cars.
