1. Bunch of misguided extremists as bad as any Islamist
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (03.06.09)
who prefer hate over love.
2. Technion stinks!
Ariel ,   Europe   (03.06.09)
3. Good decision, Rabbi.
Kev ,   London   (03.06.09)
4. Who are we calling beasts?
Esther ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.06.09)
Why can't these rabbis and "religious activists" act with some derech eretz? They believe that homosexuality is a disease and should not be encouraged. They have a right to that belief, but they do not have the right to discriminate because of that - even for "religious" purposes. The Technion is not a religious institute. These Rabbis and activists are more of a "disgrace to society" than anyone else.
5. Taliban
mike ,   namibia   (03.06.09)
I think we should put a webcam in the rabbi's bedroom to see what he's up to when nobody's looking
6. #1
Kev ,   London   (03.06.09)
You do not understand the nature of true love, nor its broadest applications.
7. Amused....
(03.06.09)
Mezuzot are not removed from apartments inhabited by non-Jewish heterosexual married couples... so why should they be removed from apartments inhabited by Jewish homosexual married couples?
8. Prevent discrimination and violence remove all mezuzot
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (03.06.09)
To prevent problems and violence all of the exterior mezuzot should be removed otherwise it is an invitation to violent actions. Those who want them can have them on the inside of the door post rather than the outside. This is a safety issue not a religious one
9. 6 - how is it your business Mr. London Resident?
5th generation ,   Israel   (03.06.09)
If you love Israel so much as to laud the Rabbi's actions, where is your bigoted butt?
10. to #8 - yeah right!
zoe ,   jerusalem   (03.06.09)
It's funny how you can easily pretend it's a safety issue and sleep tight! Now let's picture this: let's imagine that bunch of antisemitic neighbours threaten a jewish family living abroad. Should they remove all the mezuzot because it's a safety issue, not a religious one? Come on! Let's have some decency here! So what, they're gays. In the Jewish State we should always remember that Judaism, yes, Judaism orders us to behave admirably with minorities. Because we know what it's like.
11. "You Shall Place Them On The Door Posts Of Your House"
David H ,   Marietta USA   (03.06.09)
The MItzvah does not say "you will post them on the door posts of your married household" Hubris again from these small minded, ayatolah wannabes. I had a mezzuzah on my apartment in Europe when I had a non Jewish (male) room mate. Did I commit a Cardinal sin? Or don't we have cardinal sins? I assume Technion approves of mezzuzot on dorm rooms occupied by same sex couples, ie 2 guys, as long as there is no funny stuff going on between the two of them, at least in that room? My only complaint about the two guys occupying housing meant for married couples is that it denies the latter their semi-entitled housing. Get a life, Rabbi!
12. Good!
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (03.06.09)
It's about time our society began putting its foot down on creeping acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. Enough with their immorality and flaunting. No ethical and moral society should have to put up with their outrageous behavior and certainly does not have to legalize and legitimize it.
13. Shocking to see Ynet censor anti-homo talkback
Avi ,   Geneva   (03.06.09)
Our society and media have already become so corrupt that voices of purity are smothered by the powers of impurity. Truly humanity and Jewry in particular are going down a path of utter ugliness.
14. Homosexuals at Israeli University
Stan ,   Silver Spring MD   (03.06.09)
Rabbi Zini and his band of fanatics should be ashamed of themselves. Israel is a democratic society, and in such an atmosphere, ALL JEWS, regardless of their race, sex or sexual orientation, have the right to live their lives as they choose, and to practice their religion as they see fit. It is up to them whether they choose to have a mezuzzah on their doorposts. Forcing the University to remove mezuzzahs from the apartments where homosexuals live is akin to Hitler's forcing Jews to wear yellow stars on their clothing. The next thing Rabbi Zini will do is to force the homosexuals to wear bright yellow cone-shaped hats when they are outside their rooms. If Rabbi Zini and his co-conspirators don't wish to be homosexuals, it is up to them. But to stigmatize gays and lesbians in a way that separates and isolates them from heterosexual society points Israel down the path of the hated Catholic Church which spearheaded antisemitism and ghettoization of the Jews for thousands of years. Is this what we want for Israeli society? I certainly hope not.
15. 5th generation
Kev ,   London   (03.06.09)
I tried to join the IDF and would love to have lived in Israel. However, I was told that I had to have at very least, Jewish Grandparents. I don't, so that was that.
16. Kev , 15 , so it's certainly NOT your business
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.06.09)
17. He certainly isnt a Rabbi!!!
FAL ,   US   (03.07.09)
This individual may call himself a Rabbi, but in my estimation he certainly isnt. He can rot in hell for all i care.
18. #12 - Brauner the dumbass....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (03.07.09)
It isn't creeping, fool, and homosexuality isn't a lifestyle. Its about time our society began putting its foot down on morons like you.
19. By his own words
Marc ,   LA, CA, USA   (03.07.09)
The rabbi states :They are trying to force us to acknowledge that if a person was born with a(n)...abnormality he can live with it....this immoral saying has no room in (our) society. If the rabbi believes some sexuality is a congenital abnormality, then isn't he obligated to honor or at least accommodate His natural creations? How about the blind, lame and feeble-minded? Are they too deemed by the rabbi immoral? Love is never immoral. (and for those fixated w/ pedophile analogies , that is not love) The rabbi echos anti-Semitic propaganda. Haven't we learned?
20. Intolerant fanatics
Elly ,   Vienna, Austria   (03.07.09)
These are intolerant religious fanatics.
21. Don't mistake the real reason
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (03.07.09)
Under the guise of 'religion' the fanatics are free to do almost anything in Israel without fear of swift and crushing justice. The real reason they wish to speak for G-d THIS time is clear: Mark the rooms by the LACK of the Mezuzah so that hired thugs can come around to harm them...like the crap the Dosiban "Modesty Mob" pulled on that poor woman in Jerusalem. Crack down on then 24/7/365 and outlaw their "political" parties. I'd call them "Pork", but why give pigs a bad name?
22. personal lives of co-tenants should be private.
dante ,   uk   (03.07.09)
that means that the tenants, male or female, should be discreet. there is no reason that a public declaration of the sexual preferences or activities of co-tenants should be made. if people feel the need to publicize their private lives, then they must be prepared to accept any scorn that results.
23. Been thinking about this Techion...all day...
Ben ,   singapore   (03.07.09)
reading here and there..only two ideas seems right to me."""...that Rabbi Huna said in the name of Rabbi Joseph, 'The generation of the Flood was not wiped out until they wrote marriage documents for the union of a man to a male or to an animal"""" and the other is a very modern idea, that "...."Compassion, sympathy, empathy, understanding - these are essential elements of Judaism. They are what homosexual Jews who care about Judaism need from us today."- ref : Jonathan Sach Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth (United Kingdom). Both views vary so far in terms of time and era ,maybe this issue is a morally neutral. act or omission, however... Jewish law holds that no hedonistic ethic is part of halacha.Having said that, as jews we must not drive the homsexuals away from judaism. The word LOVE, dosent appear anywhere in the Torah, but the word" compassion", yes.Compassion being the root of love only calls jews to show some understanding towards the homosexuals people, and thier HX orientation doesnot mean they are not jews. They are also a subject of Israel protected by the fundamental rights which is civil rights.Where they stay what the do within the four walls is their business, putting mezuzot is their spiritual right a subject of their own concience and spirituality. No body has a right to remove their mezuzot without the owners consent.the decision allowing homsexual to live in dorms designed for married couples is a matter for the Supreme Court of Israel to decide. The techion's rabbis may request politely but making demand to remove their mezuzot is uncontituitional ! This is how I see it, no intention to belittle the rabbis or support the homos, please !
24. Asoor magic boxes not in Torah
Josh   (03.07.09)
What is described and what is instituted are two wholy separate things and ceremonies. Binding a item on your house with an incantation to "protect" you is nothing more than paganism. Incantation over it is performance of magic. This is why you cannot do anything in btween the blessing and the act. In magic scribe if the words are flawed the power of the magic paper is lost. Sound familiar? God protects us and God alone. If we remove the magic box from gay couple rooms, we are doing them a favor. Baalam could not curse Jaacobs tents because there was no magic in them. So if you remove these you are taking steps for the good. Baalam could not curse. Bmidbar (Numbers) 23 21 "He (God) percieved no iniquity in Yaacov... and 23 23 "...for there was no divination in Yaacov and no socery in Israel"
25. Rabbis in Israel not worth the time of day
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (03.07.09)
The whole system is politicized. The Torah means nothing to them. Their objectives are different than those of G-d.
26. #24 Josh
David ,   USA, exile   (03.07.09)
That's very good Josh. I totally agree with you about the danger of incantations etc. The bronze serpent held up in the wilderness for the healing of the people from bites from the serpents later became an idol and had to be destroyed because the people were worshiping it. Now, tell us what to do with the commandment to put the Word on our doorposts. Surely you are not going to tell us that the commandment no longer applies. How are we to obey it? Do you have a better interpretation than the Rabbis?
27. #23 Ben
David ,   USA, exile   (03.07.09)
You tell us of Rabbi Huna writing in the name of Rabbi Joseph. Well, Moshe wrote in the Name of HaShem and I believe Torah says homosexuality is an abomination. All people should be treated with compassion, however Ben, What does the Torah say to do with people who practice an abomination? What does Rabbi Huna say about that? Compassion is a word often misused. It is NOT compassionate to keep silent when others are in sin. If the watchman does not warn the people then the blood is on the head of the watchman. Do you know what that means Ben? Are we to condone abomination practices in the name of compassion? If we do, then it is no more compassion, it is hate. We hate a soul if we don't warn them of the impending judgment of their wicked behavior. We are to love these people by protection, by feeding, by clothing etc. but it is far from compassionate to let them wallow in sin.
28. To 24 , NOT your BUSINESS church goer
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.07.09)
and disgusting too . Is that your superstition to be disgusting as you were ?
29. 26 to 24 : two goyim
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.07.09)
26 agrees of course with his brother in belief , both with their crosses
30. # 3 Homophobic kev in London
Avi ,   Ramat Gan   (03.07.09)
How strange you never miss an oprotunity to attack the gay community of Israel? Well it seems you have a lot of anger inside, prehaps if you feel you can attack the gay community you can surpress your own homosexual Feelings? I suggest you have a cup of tea and some fish and chips and mind your own bussiness. As life in Israel is not your concern, Where will it all lead Kev , a black president ? Shocking isnt it?
