I am deeply sympathetic to most of your questions. We must have our own country. We must run our own country. We must be allowed to live our way. But, one of your questions bothers me. A righteous gentile, who is allowed to live in the land, is not a Jew and is not held to Jewish standards. Instead, he's held to those standards laid out for him. There are many things that are allowed to him because he is not under the injunction to be holy as we are. That is not for him. That is for us. Among those things is being allowed to see a harlot (see Maimonides), whereas the prohibition for us is directly linked to "for you shall be a holy nation." He's still judged righteous (if not terribly pious) if he avails himself of this because he's not expected to be holy. The real question is: how many righteous gentiles may we allow to reside in our land? The answer, from the talmudic discussion of the verse "lo tehonen," is (pardon my liberal summary) *not so many in any given community that staging this sort of show would be worthwhile in the first place.* Or: not so many that our morality is affected by them, but rather, a small enough group that their morality is affected by us. The issue should not be Orthodox versus non-Orthodox. The issue should be morality for all. If you go back 25 years these shows only existed hidden in dark corners on unsafe streets. No one was proud to admit they went to such. Today, society in both Israel and the US has reached a point were it all hangs out. What ever happened to right and wrong. You do not have to be Orthodox to feel that public sex on stage is wrong. Maybe only the Orthodox have the chutzpah to say it is wrong.
