1. Typical Leftist Double Standards
Ben-Yehudah ,   K'far Tapu'ah   (03.23.09)
B"H The left and Arabs can march through Hevron, come en masse to Bet El and Givat Asaf. "Israeli" Arabs travel freely into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. But Jews can't enter Um Al Fahm. Typical. EsserAgaroth.blogspot.com
2. Use of weapons could lead to disaster ?
A Jew ,   Israel   (03.23.09)
– Yep! They could. Thank the supreme court for any deaths or injuries to Jews or Arabs. Call themselves judges? ha ha ha ha don't make us laugh.
3. we'll wait & see which side wins the day!
(03.23.09)
This is perhaps the largest waste of right wing energy since their lost battle over Gaza! Me thinks that we are going to end up with a situation similar to October riots all those years ago. What a waste
4. Arabs and Left make a joke of democracy
Akiva ,   UK   (03.23.09)
Only in Israel would you find people complaining at waving the national flag. The left love reminding us that free speech is the cornerstone of democracy, such as when hareidim were arested for protesting a gay rights march. The claims of "incitement" are selective and in truth, are only applicable to those not right wing. HaShem willing this march will go ahead. It is OUR land!
5. Since Freedom of Speech is a one way right
Arie ,   BaGolan   (03.23.09)
According to our 5th column, I'm confident they won't mind if they are restricted from opening their mouths, or demonstrating in, areas like Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, and so on. Fair is fair! If Jews have no rights in arab towns, then the reverse should also be accepted. By the way, how about we NOT provide funding for that EXCLUSIVE arab town you are demanding? Fair is Fair!
6. Umm al-Fahm acting racist by blocking court approved march
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.09)
If Umm al-Fahm is part of Israel and wants to prevent racist actions then why are they blocking a court approved peaceful march in their city? Their blocking this only makes the point that they consider themselves apart from Israel rather than a part of Israel. The more they make of this the bigger it will grow as they prove the marcher's point for them.
7. Umm al-Fahm is an Israeli city!
martin knopfman ,   tel aviv   (03.23.09)
The Mayor of Umm al-Fahm and others have lost their way, and are living in a left wing inspired dream world! During the elections they announced, " we will not allow Jews to monitor the ballots in OUR city". If they don't want to live in an Israeli city then let's just redraw the boundary. Sooner, rather than later! Martin.
8. Any individual
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (03.23.09)
either Arab or Jew, Government or private citizen that prevents the march, will spell the end of the psudo-democray that Israel still hangs on to.
9. exactly #1.
nate ,   canada   (03.23.09)
wow. these arabs in umm al-fahm are really so against jews with israeli flags entering "their" city eh? if theres anybody who doesn't see a problem with this, they should have themselves checked out.
10. to (1) Ben-Yehudah, K'far Tapu'ah
A Jew, Germany   (03.23.09)
What are you talking about - "Israeli" Arabs travel freely into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem? Are they openly saying they would like to send all jews to the moon? And jews are free to enter Um Al Fahm, but not under the motto "We are the White supremacists and all the rest must die!"
11. Martin from Tel Aviv, you're an idiot
Avraham ,   NYC   (03.23.09)
Then you should redraw the border around most of the 1.4 mln (or so) Israeli Arabs that may harbor the same sentiments towards Jews (maybe some not as severe as those in Umm el Fahm). With your approach to redrawing borders, little will be left of Israel.
12. The Umm al-Fahm "bodies"
DT ,   TA Israel   (03.23.09)
Good for Marzel. March and enjoy it. This is a Jewish nation and after the March all the Umm al - Fahm Arabs who are pro terror should be rounded up and deported to Gaza (or somewhere else ) having applied the "Lieberman doctrine" which is great !
13. Thankyou Baruch Marzelfrom the gay community
Gay Jew ,   Tel aviv   (03.23.09)
As you have clerly stated it is every citizens democratic right to march in Israel regardless of what ever cause he or she is marching for. I have to thankyou as this now gives us further justification and a green light for the gay march in Jerusalem. which unlike your march is a peacefull march to demand the basic human rights of Israels gay population which we are still denied in the year 2009. Thanks to your march the highest courts cannot deny us our democratic rights ,you have advanced our struggle more than we could ever of hoped for. Good luck on your march, in the same way you dont give in to threats of violence neither will we!
14. marching
jim ,   dublin   (03.23.09)
ah, marches. the sure way to cause a riot by a seemingly innocent act.this march is no more about the israeli flag than the orange marches in northern ireland are actually about the little sashes the orangmen wear.it is about staking a claim on land and one side rubbing their superior social status and historical victories over the other.pure incitement and rabble rousing in its most basic form.a symbolic walk through the other side's neighbourhood shouting "remember who's in charge, scum". if you want to know the probable outcome of these marches, just take a look at how they usually ended up in the north of ireland. if you are stupid enough not to learn from our history, you are more than welcome to learn its lessons the hard way.
15. This is the contract of democracy
dmgold ,   Pardes Channa Israel   (03.23.09)
This is where democracy stands or falls. There is no such thing as one group having a moral perogative in a democracy, the liberal left and its Iraeli Arab allies have no special rights above and beyond the Kach type peoples in this state. If Israeli Arabs and their left wing Israeli Jewish comrades in arms resort to provoking violence to prevent this march then they are putting a nail in the coffin of democracy. If there is violent resistance to a lawful peaceful protest, then Israeli Arabs and their left wing Jewish Israeli comrades are clearly making a statement against the democratic right to peaceful protest and through this action would be agreeing to a new status quo where they have no inherent rights to the same rights of protest in the future.
16. i just hope that guns wont be used....cuz
mohannad   (03.23.09)
it wont end very well, um el fahem have the bigest amount of guns any city can have.... and am sure they wont start the fight, but surly they will end it
17. To: Mohammed at No. 16
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.23.09)
Then we'll just have to take those guns away, won't we Mohammed ....
18. RAK KACH!
Moshe Zalman ,   Lod, Israel   (03.23.09)
Fahm will move to Saudi Arabia! Bon voyage!
19. Did the UN condemn the Jews for this yet?
Steve from Raleigh   (03.23.09)
Wait for it, they will.
20. I don't see what the big deal is
Israeli   (03.23.09)
It seems that this group is being provocative but so what? if the residents of um el fahm gave them flowers and just laughed at their insanity, this would all go away- the bigoted people would lose their power. But this will likely turn violent and continue the endless insane cycle of violence. What i dont understand is if Marzel can march in um elfahm, why can't the PA show their Palestinian culture in East Jerusalem? Both scenarios show how insane we all are.
21. A Joint Jewish-Arab flag rally should be held instead
Rami of Nazareth   (03.23.09)
to counter this provocative march, and show that the city welcomes jews ...Um el Fahem should organize a joint flag rally with jews and arab marchers raising Israeli flags....
22. umelpahem...
oded   (03.23.09)
residents who become disobedeint and reckless should be arrested on the spot! they still nust obey israeli rules! there are plenty of israelis who don't arabs march in thier neighborhoods ,but adhere to the democratic rule of the land. arabs, take a que!
23. Duplicity
Verity ,   US   (03.23.09)
Oh sure Israel is 'apartheid' while the Arabs reject having Jews peaceful march in "their" town- reminiscent of mecca , Jordan refusal of ANY Jews presence and residence nor ownership nor religious/civil rights
24. #11
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.09)
The plan outlined by Martin from Tel Aviv is exactly the Meretz/Labor/Kadima plan except that it rids Israel of racist citizens who believe in Arab genetic superiority and support apartheid where areas are declared forbidden to Jews.
25. #14
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.09)
Your Talkback makes no sense. Perhaps you accept the English occupation of Northern Ireland, that is your right. But imagine if there was a Protestant towns in free Ireland where it was forbidden for Catholics to enter. Would you accept that? Would you find it acceptable if some Israeli wrote that it was reasonable for Orangemen to declare their city forbidden to Catholics in the Dublin Times?
26. The Right Wing Demonstration must be Prevented
Shimon Z. Klein ,   Bat Hefer, Israel   (03.23.09)
The demonstration must be prevented. The only ason for holding it is to incite the Arab population. These two racist hoodlums, Baruch Marzel and Itamar ben Gvir are desciples of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane of Kach. They say it is their democratic right to carry out the anti-Arab demonstration. If nazis were to go and demonstrate in a Jewish neighborhood in the US, is this democracy? What about the Pastinian Festival in Jerusalem banned by the police? Surely there are double standards here! A standard for Jews and a standard for Arabs.
27. Mohannad be very carerfull what you say or wish for.
Mike ,   Israel   (03.23.09)
28. Can someone explain please
jennifer   (03.23.09)
to me the reason for this march ? why would they want to march in an Arab town ? I don't understand.
29. #16 Muhamed,thanks for warning us
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (03.24.09)
that inside our own country there are hostile people porting illegal arms. That's indeed very grave and one more proof that legal measures must be taken to solve this problem. Arabs will not change Israel, neither by shouts nor by arms and the sooner Israel realizes the impossibility of such situation and the need for solution, the best. And certainly the solution is not a two state solution in our tiny Israel, that's for sure!
30. Muslim supremacism
Frankl ,   Canada   (03.24.09)
Muslim supremacists don't want Marzel in their town because in fact, they are refusing any Jewish presence in the Middle East. It's more than time to show to these racist fanatics who owns the land and who is a squatter.
