91. He got what he deserved
A Concerned Citizen ,   Israel   (03.24.09)
He got what he deserved. Take him back to the US and put him on medicare to cover his medical bills. Hope he suffers Have a happy easter
92. Very sad - but
(03.24.09)
Why did he take part in violent demonstations? If he wants to march for peace then he should visit palestinians + israelis wishing to cohabit together, help poor families hit by the confict (jews and arabs), have discussions etc. To simplify - and I think every normal and decent people in the world would agree - He should TALK not MAKE WAR and certainly not TURN VIOLENT! This person should respect the peace activist principle (if there is any?) and speak (if they are actually for peace??) Why did he send rocks, why is he provoking soldiers that probably only wish to go back home. If I were a soldier here I will probably say to myself: why the hell are you wasting my time and certainly yours??? Those people are not contributing to peace at all, they are just doing the contrary. Unfortunately this is very sad , but he is almost the only one to blame - that's what every sane people in the world would tell the parents - sorry to tell the truth to the parents! Anyway ... we only wish he could rehabilitate soon and think before turning violent! We all pray for complete recovery.
93. Don't you take responsibility for your son-
Yisroel ,   USA   (03.24.09)
38 years old and does not hold a job and pay for his upkeep. When and if he heals he should pay for the medical bills in Israel ---- he should be arrested and sent to prison to spend some more time among his PALS.
94. Keep you noise clean
EDUARDO ,   HOUSTON, TX. USAE   (03.24.09)
It is a tragic event, if the reason was to observe the conflict he should have taken distance of the same one and not to participate throwing rocks actively. Now the consequences are tragic, as father I had noticed him not once but many times of not being involved actively with a part of the conflict. The lesson is hard and it should from warning being to all those that call itself "movements of peace" but that actively they participate in the conflict. Moral: Keep you noise clean
95. And if an IDF soldier was injured
David Thompson ,   Melbourne, Australia   (03.24.09)
So if the IDF didn't fire tear gas, and just stood there, would they be safe? The soldiers would've ended up being in a worse state than Tristan or so. Would Tristan's parents have a go about their dear little son then? He's a trouble maker who sets out to take on governments and security forces, and he's learnt the hard way that he can't do all the time what he wants. His parents say the IDF should take responsibility, I think Tristan and his friends are old enough to be responsible for what happens to them, no matter what
96. YOUR SON SUPPORTS TERRORISTS.
(03.24.09)
97. attention seeking son
Josie ,   Israel   (03.24.09)
He got what he came for, to get attention, so parents of Tristan, please stop whining.
98. Tristan
Sarit ,   Israel   (03.24.09)
As a parent I understand how they feel, but Israel is NOT responsible for him. He was there to support the Arabs, so let them pay for his costs. And if he could afford to go all over the world and didn't have to work at age 38, then he and his parents must have plenty of money. And if not, let the Arabs pay - they're getting lots of money both from our dumb Israeli governments and from abroad.
99. What do you see when you look at their photograph?
martin knopfman ,   Tel Aviv   (03.24.09)
If you were shown a photograph of the parents, without knowing who they were, what would your immediate reaction be? They have a picture of Che Guevara on their bedroom or living room wall? They have piles of half read copies of the Guardian all over their home? Their radio and TV are permanently tuned to the BBC? They should take at least some responsibility for their son's condition and not simply suggest that other's (Israel) is to blame. Martin
100. #49 - you conveniently ignore the comments by non-Israelis!
Jane ,   London - UK   (03.24.09)
Ask yourself why you only mention "comments made by Israelis"? The answer should be clear. You need to check your rationale, and accept your conclusions. Jane
101. Anarchists
Marilyn ,   USA   (03.24.09)
No one wants him nor the parents to suffer, and am hoping that he makes a good recovery. One thing though is that there is difficulty with some of the anarchists and violence. For example I first learned about them through the reports from the RNC and anti-war protest. They said that there was violence going on, but people were not knowing exactly what was happening or why. Also people were getting mad. Then I found out that it was some of the anarchists. Some got charged with domestic terrorism. I guess that police had infilitrated this particular group in the year prior. So while I'm sure that maybe anarchists want to make a difference in the world and who knows they might even have some important ideas, it's just that the violent ones are going about this in the wrong way.
102. No threat? That is why IDF killed your son like Gazan Babies!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (03.24.09)
If your son were to pose threat to them they would turn their back and run away and find a wall to write on hate messages as they did in Gaza "operation"
103. he's an enemy combatant and should be put in jail.
leah ,   beersheva, israel   (03.24.09)
if you trespass onto military land and then throw stones at a soldiers, american or not, you should be put in jail.
104. Tragic lesson for Andersons in MidEast reality
JPS ,   Efrat   (03.24.09)
That Anderson was seriously injured is regretful, and my sincere wish is for his speedy and complete recovery. At the same time, his parents and Ynet readers should understand that there was no "peace demonstration" going on. The weekly Naalin protests are organized in part by Israeli anarchists, and violence is definitely on their agenda. The protest is against the security wall, and is not a "peace demonstration". And, of course, we have to remind the Andersons and Ynet readers that the security fence is there to keep out Palestinian suicide bombers. Anderson got sucked in to the pro-Palestinian lobby's propaganda campaign, and "peace" has nothing to do with it.
105. Here's a dime...go call ISM
mea   (03.24.09)
and no one else. Simple put they themselves report they regularly ramp up the NIIlan demonstrations--since they have been coming the situation gets rough. They should stay away. No one can blame Israel when the ISM states there has been violence, therefore the guy knew it was possible and chose to go there. The parents need to understand the whole pic instead of making demands. Do they think their son is the first casualty of the conflict? Get a clue.
106. Tristan's alive but Rachel Corrie died...
judyinjerusalem ,   jerusalem   (03.24.09)
Hmm..wonder why? Tristan is at Tel Hashomer Hospital, Corrie was allowed to die and become a martyr for the cause at An Naja Hospital. See http://jerusalemdiaries.blogspot.com for the whole story.
107. One Can Blame Israel For Many Things
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (03.24.09)
But an unemployed 38 year-old who made poor choices in life should not be one of them.
108. To: Tayfun at No. 102
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.24.09)
Gazan mommies and daddies sell their precious babies to Hamas to be used as suicide bombers. Hamas stores weapons in schools and hospitals, thereby turning them into legitimate military targets. Hamas launches its missiles from densely populated areas, thereby turning those areas into legitimate military targets.
109. To: Judy in Jerusalem
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.24.09)
Thank you very much for providing the link. It made very interesting reading. And, of course, that picture of Rachel Corrie burning an Israeli flag. When I think of the people who fought and died for that flag and what the flag means to Jews throughout the world --- I don't feel all that sorry for Rachel Corrie.
