61. YOUR SON IS AN ENEMY OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE
USA   (03.23.09)
62. he was throwing stones at police and a history of violence
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.09)
So how can he be in any way considered to be "observing from the side" or "peaceful". His parents are clearly cashing in on this in the hope that if this loser dies then they can get a pay off like the leeches that got £1M from their photographer son dying recently.
63. "to observe the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the side"
B.S   (03.23.09)
One who comes to Israel to observe from the side does not participate in an anti-Israeli protest. An innocent observer does not wear a bandanna on his face co conceal his identity (as you notice in the picture, it is tied around his neck). These are often used by violent protesters and law breakers. As usual, the media will "drop" some information in such cases...
64. To Sarah at No. 41
Bernie ,   Brooklyn   (03.23.09)
Sarah, Trust me when I tell you that Ruth No. 27 is as she says she is. I know and respect "Ruth". We only hope the young man heals. Bernie from Brooklyn
65. BY ALL MEANS, let the whole world hear the truth!
s   (03.23.09)
Let them hear your son is a rioter. Let them hear he was taking part in illegal activity, including trespassing into MILITARY territory, throwing rocks and other violent actions. Let them hear he is an international trouble maker who is supported by his parents back at home who are are willing to blatantly lie on his behalf, even when all evidence are against him. Let them hear.
66. The Andersons Are Living In Denial
Lawrence ,   Safed Israel   (03.23.09)
Too painful for them to admit that their darling moron child screwed up.
67. To the Andersons
Israeli ,   Israel   (03.23.09)
I'm sorry that your son was hurt but he put himself in this situation knowingly. He travels around the world to problematic and dangerous places and takes the risk of being injured, jailed or worse. Do not blame Israel. He caused this himself.
68. He's no child...
jv ,   LA, USA   (03.23.09)
...he's 38 years old. He sat in a tree for 21 months to prevent the UC campus from putting up a new building. The protest ended 6 months ago and the tree came down and the building went up. Apparently, he doesn't need to work to support himself and went off to Israel. He entered into a situation where he expected to be coddled. But, the West Bank is not the East Bay of SF.
69. Usefull Idiots
Ivri ,   IL   (03.23.09)
Procreate and make more Usefull Idiots. And then want other people to apologize for their son being a usefull idiot. Being an Idiot, even a usefull one, does not imune you from getting hit in your knuckle head. Gotta love these "Salon Protesters"
70. #49 "World Citizen"....
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.23.09)
"if the civilized world doesn't have a negative opinion they do after reading the delusional excuses posited by the average Israeli poster at Ynet" Well actually, many people from the 'civilized world' have already come here to comment - many from the USA (Tristan Anderson's OWN country!), and some from the UK, Switzerland, and Austria. And nearly ALL of them hold the same opinion as Israelis do, and hold no sympathy for this young idiot. As for the rest of the 'civilized world', it looks like they hardly care at all. So, it looks like you and your terror-sympathizing friends are up for a disappointment.
71. Pathetic
Jeremy   (03.23.09)
Your son went to a war zone and attempted to participate in a riot. He got hit in the head with a tear gas canister because he was clearly partaking in activities he shouldn't have been. ISM supports terrorists... he apparently chose to ignore this fact. Israel isn't Southern California, people don't get to protest like they're at UC Berkeley. The son needs to take responsibility for his failure in decision making, the parents need to understand how they failed in allowing him to believe he could act like a spoiled teenager anywhere but the USA. They claim "he fought for justice throughout his life"... hes a spoiled lefty "activist" from California, what the hell could he possibly understand about justice?
72. Play with fire and you will get burnt
dmgold ,   Pardes Channa Israel   (03.23.09)
Israel is not responsible for a foreign adult who travels half way around the world with the specific intention to participate in violent demonstrations against the state of Israel and endanger members of the Israeli security forces. This is the ultimate display of Chutspah.
73. You son huge reputation all around the world,
e.m.Jordan is Palest ,   s.f   (03.23.09)
If you are smart and love him than why you did not stop him? I believe he has yours support, there is lot of document that how he was violence the true is that your son should not be there, I hope he will recover
74. To Mr. Abdel Karim Salim (#47):
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.23.09)
I am a Jew who resides in Ashdod, concerned about our country and the threat posed by Palestinian Arabs, both within and outside Israel. Nonetheless, reflecting on your comment, I very much appreciate the fact that not only do we Jewish Israelis find this thirty-eight year old man's conduct reprehensible (although his maturity level, as you suggest, is that of a juvenile or adolescent) but so do you although for a different reason. If I may be so bold as to expand on your reasoning, this American came here, uninvited and imposing himself supposedly to assist the Palestinian people. By doing so, he shows you, and your community, genuine disrespect by involving himself in affairs about which he has no knowledge (ignorance) and in comporting himself in such a way as to indicate that he thinks your community actually requires his aid (lack of humility). In making his presence known and in functioning as he did, he actually infantilizes (implies that you cannot take care of yourselves, haven't grown up) your community and therefore you have every reason to become upset at his person and actions. If I am right, I am pleased to hear it. It means that we Israeli Jews and you Palestinian Arabs might be able to make decisions about how to conduct our lives without the interference of outsiders. And if we can't come to an agreement, then we both continue to suffer.
75. Summarize it in one word to the Andersons
Gábor Fränkl ,   Budapest, Hungary   (03.23.09)
CHUTZPAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
76. DUMBASS!
Emet ,   Israel   (03.23.09)
ISM = Inept Sociopath Monkeys
77. Emily.kuhnert@gmail.com
Emily Kuhnert ,   Israel/USA   (03.23.09)
I served in this area during my service in the IDF and every friday the Palestinians staged a riot in protest against the fence. This is not new news, every couple of months you hear that someone was injured there, whether it be a soldier, foreigner, or Palestinian. The Palestinians don't just throw rocks (side note- they are ALL CHILDREN doing this, probably sent out by their parents so the IDF won't shoot them because of the fact that they are children), they have this sling thing that turns the rocks into very dangerous and deadly projectiles. If you are there, you are taking the chance of getting injured. Why should the IDF have to take responsibility for someone knowingly putting and themselves in harms way? I personally have had friends injured there with a rock to the temple, so does that mean that I should demand that the parents of these children should take responsibility? War doesn't work that way. Get over it.
78. #49 obviously no one wished him harm, but he endangered
himself participatin   (03.23.09)
79. #51
Yaron ,   USA   (03.23.09)
I was simply comparing the 2 sides. What is your point about the people in Sderot? Does that mean overall Israel is not thriving? Your response is full of emotion and negative energy. While the Israeli leadership has in fact sold you out....I was simply saying the Pals were sold out much worse. You can find injustice and tragedy all over this world but that does not change the fact that Israel's achievements are the most astounding of any country given the little resources and short timeframe. That you gave humanitarian aid during war is something to be proud of....we are not savages like our adversaries!
80. Your son is trash. The only reason he is getting publicity
Frank ,   California   (03.24.09)
is because Jews are new all over the world. Had he gone to Sudan or Chechnya he would have been decapitated and buried a long time ago and nobody except you would have even cared. The only reason they even write about it now is because Israel is Jewish hated not only by the Arabs but also zillion anti-Semites. Congratulations on joining their ranks!
81. Ugly 38 year old nutcase but I blame Israel for not
William ,   USA   (03.24.09)
taking a harsher action against the crazies and emotional derelicts be they Israeli or from the USA. Outlaw the trash like that man.
82. While my heart goes out to the parents
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (03.24.09)
He took pat in demonstrations which were known to degenerate into violence and where injury is not uncommon. He is an adult, and mentally competent therefore responsible for being there. No one has produced any footage showing what exactly happened. Perhaps someone pushed or hit the soldier at the time the round was discharged. The fact that he has "opposed" things in other places doesn't mean he was immune to damage, nor correct opposing things where he was. The fact he wasn't harmed before does not mean someone was looking to harm him deliberately here. How many demonstrations did he partake in there? Sorry, but when one places himself voluntarily in harm's way one can't weep about being harmed.
83. Protestors SHOULD Pay For ALL Bills.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (03.24.09)
Quote :”.. demonstration, during which they trespassed into closed military areas and threw stones at the forces.” One is allowed to protest, but one is NOT allowed to throw stones at the IDF (or Police) !! Throwing stones at the IDF (or Police) is violence, which gives the IDF (or Police) the right to shoot with REAL bullets aimed at the legs of the protestors. Those who throw stones, or even one who throw stones -- the whole group of protestors SHOULD pay for the medical bill of the injured. The whole group of protestors SHOULD also pay for the medical bill of injured IDF (or Police) personnel ; they SHOULD also pay for ALL the damages caused to state and private properties. BTW protestors can NOT enter closed military areas. IF they do -- they will be shot at with life rounds with the aim of killing them, not just injuring them. BTW protestors should understand that they are NOT the owners of the State of Israel. Quote :”.. he wished to observe the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the side.” SO, he should have taken a pair of binoculars, and from a safe distance of, lets say, 400 meters (1500 feet) he should have watched the conflict. But, when you take part in the group -- you and the group are FULLY responsible for EVERY injury and EVERY damage.
84. Stone Throwers are Peace Activists ??
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (03.24.09)
Quote :”.. never posed a threat to anyone, ..” Quote :”.. just as he fought for justice throughout his life.” These two quotes are part of one sentence -- and they contradict each other. How can fighting for justice throughout one’s life “NEVER pose a threat to anyone” ? It doesn’t make sense. Because it WILL pose a threat to someone. Quote :” .. peace activists ..” How can stone throwers be called peace activists ? Even if ONLY one amongst the protestors has thrown stones -- the group can NOT be called peace activists. Peace activists means one should use ONLY banners and chanting slogans -- that’s it. And one SHOULD follow the orders of the IDF (or Police) very obediently. Quote :”.. his son (i.e. Tristan Anderson) being injured during a peace demonstration.” Throwing stones at IDF (or Police) is NOT called a peace demonstration -- it is called violence aimed at the IDF (or Police).
85. he State of Israel do must take responsibility ...
darius   (03.24.09)
because allow foreigner intervene in domestic politics. In any other country he would be fined, jailed and deported and not allowed to comeback forever (I mean democratic countries In Arab countries he simple would disappear)
86. IDIOT YOUR SON TOOK the STAND at his own RISK !
ben ,   singapore   (03.24.09)
Foreigner who enter as visitors MUST NOT participate in INTERNAL AFFAIR of ISRAEL. In fact these kind of behavior ought to be treated severly- DEPORT- PERSON NON -GRANTA- ban form Entering Israel FOREVER ! The TRUTH is your son entered Israel with an ulterior Intend to cause and participate an incite riots that post threat to the National Security of Israel and too all the calculated risk that would ensure. and as a resonable man in his state of mind, he had the intention and knowledge of ssuch risk, neverthe less he took it on his own action and omission. No CUT THE CRAP and DONT BLAME ISRAEL ! You enter Israel to add more pain to the IDF and the Israeli People. In future if you migrate/ aliyah to Israel come with your own funding, dont be a burden on the nation Israel. You idiots expect Israel for eveything free. The right ful person who should get the state benefits are those Israeli Jes who were born there not you or your son ! Idiots
87. Mr. "Palestine"
jb ,   Canada   (03.24.09)
Well, you ought to know, you've been doing that and a hell of alot worse for 10 centuries...and always whining and blaming it on someone else. You're the authors of your own fate. and when you seek to destroy someone, why should you be surprised when they defend themselves. Oh, by the way, where are all the greenhouses the Jews left you in Gaza, the farms, the gardens etc. etc. etc.? Oh yeah, everything is the fault of the Jews, you miserable little doofus!
88. Impossible
jb ,   Canada   (03.24.09)
Tristan has had 3 brain operations?! That's impossible to believe! I thought they found nothing but air on the first operation. Oh well, it must be hereditary...
89. Tristan
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (03.24.09)

90. He got justice, RIGHT IN THE FACE!
Dani El ,   SF USA   (03.24.09)
These idiot parents owe Israel an apology, not the other way around. Sent them a bill for the tear gas canister.
