To #35, who asks me not to label the far right of the Jewish community, I wish you were right, but just read #42, who spews intolerant and self-righteous venom at me for being a liberal rabbi. This is the kind of reply I and others see time and time again in these talkbacks, and that's why I used the strong language. #42, it is your intolerant brand of Judaism that is what I hope Jews will recognize for the kind of piety masquerading as thoughtful religion that leads people to violent and intransigent actions in the name of religion. And yes, #42, I know the meaning of all your religious terms, despite your condescention. Your nasty language is really so uncivil and disrespectful. It makes me and many other Jews sad for the state of intra-Jewish relations. I have respect for orthodoxy as one - but not the only - legitimate approach to Judaism. Clearly from your message you have no respect for my and millions of Jews approach. Despite your insults, what I believe to be true, along with the majority of Jews, is that orthodoxy (and pro-settler orthodoxy) is not the only legitimate form of Judaism; right wing politics are not the only Zionist politics; and truth is not in the hands of only one movement of Judaism. (Okay readers, brace for a major barrage of insults now from #42 and his friends.) To other readers, please google Brit Tzedek v'Shalom, Rabbis for Human Rights (which includes rabbis of all denominations), and J Street. And when people like #42 respond by calling people like me "weak" or "bad Jews" or try to bully the liberal part of the Jewish community with self-righteous proclamations in the name of Hashem, don't buy their line. This is not a religious approach that is going to help make the world a better place.
