31. I do not understand, what go you going?
leo ,   USA   (05.03.09)
Which one of you is Haredim? ben @ 9, "What ? Who he want to fill in The Arabs ? Idiot !!!" Actually, he wants to fill Jerusalem with Jews. He wants to replace useless bachelors with growing families. If you just cannot see it then who is the idiot?
32. the arabs only demand jews out of the east of the city
zionist forever   (05.03.09)
Now we have a rabbi telling jews they are not permitted to live in the city at all unless they are married or at yeshiva. Prehaps the rabbi would prefer these men go to Tel Aviv and check out the topless women on the beach for potential wives rather than stay in Jerusalem where he has a better chance of meeting a religious woman. Unless you want it to end in divorce you don't say by 20 be married or pack your bags. I am sick of the haredi thinking they run the city. They demand EGGED lay on special busses for them at no extra charge, the smash up stores that sell MP4 players because the jews could sit on the bus looking at things they shouldn't. We had them refusing to observe Yom Hazikaron. Now they think that its for them to decide who can or cannot live in Jerusalem. The policy of $ha$ is that the government doesn't divide the city as part of any peace process but if your ordering all the jews to leave anyway we don't really have much of a justification for holding onto the city. Remind me to keep $ha$ out of any negotiations with the arabs.
33. Another Idiocracy from a Rabbi
cas reader   (05.03.09)
It always amazes me what those rabbis are saying..utterly nonsense. These young men, if married, do not even provide for their family. They don't work nor serve in IDF. They depend on social benefits from the Government.
34. #26 - One man's idiocy is another's wisdom
Steve   (05.03.09)
Who are you to decide what the Rabbi said is "idiocy"?
35. What ever happened to wisdom?
Aged Spinster   (05.03.09)
Why is that as of late, it seems Israel's Rabbinate issues one stupid uttering after another. It isn't just that they are seemingly underexposed to humanity outside their own social context (and therefore do not see the real harm their skewed thinking has on people becoming interested in developing a faith) but that they say things that seem just stupid and halachically incorrect. They also seem to order their young followers around like puppetmasters.
36. It's Time For This Crackpot Jewish Cult To Go Extinct
David H ,   Marietta USA   (05.03.09)
The formal winter dress of 16th Century Poland aristocracy that they insist on wearing in a semi-tropical is ridiculous enough, and now seems to have fried some of their brain cells. I'm glad these hubris filled buffoons who actually think they speak God's word to us consider me an American goy. Any insult or inanity they can dish out to the rest of us should be taken as a complement! So tell me, Rebbi, if the kid is over 20, unmarried (a shandah, ist er a feygeleh?), exiled, still insists on wearing his stroimal mitten payous, would he now be allowed to eat some shrimp?
37. More drivell from a delusional religious nut.
Amir   (05.03.09)
Every single man between 18-21 must serve in the army and defend the Country. PERIOD.
38. The people who should leave Jerusalem are those who
Rivkah   (05.03.09)
the Bible says will cause the Lord to allow Jerusalem to be attacked with what appears to be a nuclear bomb since the women are bald afterwards in the text of the Bible in Isaiah. The people who should leave Jerusalem are homosexuals who flaunt sodomy, women with wanton eyes, and those who cheat the poor. Doing that would protect not only Jerusalem, but the world because if there is peace in Jerusalem and only God can accomplish that, there will be peace in the world.
39. lets clean up Jerusalem
roberto   (05.03.09)
I strongly suggest that those idiots should get lost ,and leave Jerusalem to real Jews.
40. # 25- Avi
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (05.03.09)
I never said that they should not serve, but as others here have stated--how about some close examination at the number of Chiloni boys who are not serving in the military. No double standards should be allowed. AND the article wasn't about army service, it was about where unmarried Chareidi boys should live--not your concern!
41. Doing what rabbis do best, making Jews not want to be
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.03.09)
religious anymore or ever. :^P Sometimes I think the rabbis are the biggest threat to Judaism.
42. better idea: every non-Palestinian MUST leave
Historian   (05.03.09)
now! whether married, unmarried, zealot or other take the exit door. Please don't forget to take with you the illegal settlments, the buddlozers, your criminal soldiers and anything and everthing that is called ILLEGAL OCCUPATION !
43. Why The Rush To Marry?
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.03.09)
I feel bad for the people who believe they must follow his decree. Puts lots of pressure on young men and their families. There is already lots of pressure on people due to the economy.
44. #27 - Christians Are *NOT* Targeted
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.03.09)
I'm a Christian and I fail to see how this decree despises Christians?! How does this impact Christians, or even Jews who are NOT following this man's stream of Judaism, at all? I don't view this man as an imbecile, nor do I view this as a reason for Jews to feel ashamed or embarrassed ... as some TBs have stated. He's a religious leader speaking to his flock. This is what religious leaders do. None of us *must* agree with this man, thank G-d! I can't see what harm he is doing to anyone except those who look to him for religious guidance. For these people I feel compassion because I think it's too much pressure for a 20 year old to bear.
45. # 1 yaakov
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (05.03.09)
Don't blame Ynet, blame the rabbi who uttered that drivel.
46. #26 Nathan
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (05.03.09)
You are correct. That sort of nonsense does make Judaism seem ridiculous. However, don't blame Ynet for publishing that foolishness, blame the person who is stupid enough to to make such inane statements.
47. # 38 Rivkah
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (05.03.09)
Are you for real? Which bible says anything about nuclear bombs? Just where is it written in the Torah??? Notice your hatred of homosexuals and women of "wanton eyes". What about the orthodox who abuse their wives and children? No comment? Seems you have a problem in discernment.
48. Rivkah , not your business
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.03.09)
Go tell your stupidities in your church , you "blessed" with all those great things
49. unmarried bachelor's to leave capital
Aharon Taus ,   jerusalem - israel   (05.03.09)
WHO IN THE HELL THE RABBI THINKS HE IS. PUPPET GOD ORDAINING ? HE GOT NO RIGHT TO DETERMINE ANY ONE'S LIFE.
50. this man is so ''adorable''...and I am an observant
(05.03.09)
51. Ben , 47 , regarding this rivkah
(05.03.09)
She has not only a "problem of discernment" but in every field . Your question regarding the Orthodox , not related at all , but this is your way of "thinking"
52. whateverrrrrr
dave ,   uk   (05.03.09)
53. Re: Rivkah #38
cas reader   (05.03.09)
Sometimes Rivka's interpretation of the Bible has many inaccuracies. However, it's very true that Israel will be attacked eventually by Magog and her allies.
54. religion = brain death (EOM)
ari   (05.04.09)
55. Very intelligent sounding talkbacks
Yoni ,   Jerusalem   (05.04.09)
Honestly it sounds like a bunch of little kids (I wouldnt be surprised if it turns out to be) calling names at the people that dont fit in with their definition of cool. An intellectual can look at another persons opinion and come out with more than "idiot" "fool" and other bad names
56. ?
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (05.04.09)
regardless of one being hareidi or not (which I'm not) I see some light into his "ruling" Jerusalem turned into a delutional heaven for religious singles, forever seeking unexising perfection in others Marry young (may be not so young) and save yourself the agony of finding ms/mr perfect and IF you happen to find it, then its MUCH more difficult to get along, later in life. And getting married is one project that should get more attention than a PhD
57. #53
P ,   Philadelphia   (05.04.09)
Magog? More likely these are bits of prophecy that either already came true and were not recorded by history (unlikely) or are simply wrong. But then, I suppose if you say something vague enough to people who *really* want to believe it, they'll be very patient and willing to stretch what you said quite a bit to make it fit.
58. IF WE COULD GET MORE JEWISH BIRTHS WE GET MORE PEACE . . . .
MOSHE ,   US   (05.04.09)
SECURITY, ECONOMIC VIABILITY & WE REDUCE OUR PER CAPITAL COSTS OF THE NATION OF ISRAEL. MOSHE P. S. IF WE COULD KICK THE aribs OUT THIS WOULD REDUCE NATIONAL COSTS OF BUSINESS & OUR NATIONAL GOVERNING COSTS.
59. to all 57
Rami ,   U.S.A   (05.04.09)
Its a real shame - Gilad is not home!
60. Is there an implicit threat of violence in this?
Abe Froman ,   NY, NY   (05.04.09)
And what will his adherents do to older bachelors if they stay? I think there is an implicit threat of violence in this edict. Are the modesty police going to add male bachelors to their list that already includes divorcees?
