4. If Peres Would Only Listen To Torah Leaders As Much
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.15.09)
The honor given the Pope, as leader of masses of people was proper. But, Peres and his ilk, have never given a hoot to listen to our own religious leaders. And what is he equating religiousity with terrorism? That is only true, nowadays, among the Moslems, and certainly not among Jews or Christians. As for the Pope, I am very disappointed in that he effectively sided with the Arabs and puts equal blame on our conflict and plight on the Jews as he does the Arabs. This is a perversion. Our conflict, the source of the terrorism, the hatred and murder is, basically, one-side. We are not the same as the other side. Failure to distinguish between right and wrong, the attempt to equate legitimate rights with illegimate claims, the "even-handedness" and equal blaming, is an out-right perversion. We have acted honorably and with an outstretched hand to the Arabs for a hundred years, and all they have done is responded with hate and terrorism. Dear Pope, Please do not meddle in Jewish-Moslem affairs. You are a Christian, and you should deal with Christian issues and problems. Do we tell you how to run your religion?
5. If it weren't for the wall...
(05.15.09)
a blown up bus with flying body parts of women and children could have been the saddest thing you have seen.
6. Isaiah 26:3
Ypip ,   Canada   (05.15.09)
7. With friends like him, who needs enemies?
Ben ,   Gush Etzion   (05.15.09)
Benedict added that he came to the Holy Land "as a friend of the Israelis
8. I'm happy to see the defensive fence!
Name ,   City & country   (05.15.09)
It means Arab terrorists can't get close enough to kill me!
9. Ya Ya, now go home and don't come back, good to take the
Yosi M. ,   GiloJerusalem Israel   (05.15.09)
trash out. Anyway Peres was giving proper honor to his leader-the Pope, since he did learn in a Jesuit school. So, we know where his allegiances "lie"(intended pun).
10. TWO STATES? LIKE NORTH AND SOUTH KOREA/VIETNAM ETC...
stude ham   (05.15.09)
what a pack of goy garbage!
11. Pope, which is saddest: the fence or murdered Jews?
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (05.15.09)
As usual, the Pope like all Islam and terror apologists, "forgets" that the fence was not there until Palestinian terror attacks reached unbearable heights. He "forgets" that the CAUSE for ercting the security fence was to PREVENT terror attacks and sensless murder of more Israeli citizens - most of them Jews, but not only. He came here as a friend of the Jews? How can he claim that if he reverses the cause and effect of the Islamic/Palestinian terror? Why didn't he EXPLICITLY call for an immediate end of the Palestinian terror against Israel? Until he faces the truth and speaks and acts accordign to it, he is no friend of the Jews. Sorry Pope - you disappoint and help perpetuate hatred, racism and conflict in our region. Your visit accomplished nothing from the Jews point of view and it definitely did not bring people together or peace any closer. It is like yet another petty politician from abroad, came here, pretended to "understand", delivered empty speeches and used slogans with a total lack of empathy and laced with a good dose of political correctness, and then returned to his country. You left nothing notable for historians to write about your visit in the Holy Land, except for traffic jams, several pompous masses leaving behind some 40,000 bewildered Arab-Christians who thought that you will be saying something wise, licked the ass of the PA - (the very same PA whose goons terrorized, raped and murdered your flock in Betlehem), and 10,000 believers who came after you, but left in a hurry as soon as, or even before you took off. Good riddance!
12. #1 LOL! That's too much even for Atilla!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (05.15.09)
What happened Atila? Tired of terrorizing Armenians? Did you decide to convert to Judaism and study Kaballa? If you are so "tired of us" why are you still here? In case you haven't noticed we are "tired of you" too, so do everybody a favor: you either post funny talkbacks like before and make us laugh with your naive imbecility, or simply disappear. Your choice!
13. If the Pope ?
AlbertoGA ,   St. George USA   (05.15.09)
Love the Pals that much he should move them to the Vatican. The wall will stay that is for sure ! All the rest was just an expensive visit with a lot of Blah, Blahs
14. Mr. Pope - if your life depended on that wall....
Dov ,   Israel   (05.15.09)
you'd see things a bit differently.
15. Come to think of it.....
Dov ,   Israel   (05.15.09)
that "wall" is not much different than your bullet-proof glassed-in Popemobile. How sad does that make you. It separates you from all your admirers, and also from your would-be assasins. I bet your admirers aren't too put off, but those assasins must be screaming bloody hell! Well its the same here. The sadness you express is in identification with those terrorists who are stopped by the wall. Go in peace. Shabbat shalom.
16. fence
Lisa   (05.15.09)
and as usual, people read , or do not read- are you happy about the fence? That it is needed? Wouldn't you be happier if you could live without? Like a giant prison- camp.... The pope did NOT take sides- this is all in your heads- he said it is sad that a fence is necessary-. Taking sides? Baloney, he tried his best not to hurt your tender feelings- but of course with such a negative attitude that is hard to do.... if there is no problem- you invent one.... read some of the articles and TBs- Shabbat Shalom- get some rest- hopefully next week the mood will be better..... we can only hope.
17. the fence
Miriam   (05.15.09)
what is wrong with you people? Can you read? Do you ever listen? The Pope said it was sad to see the fence- gosh- are YOU happy you need it to keep you safe? Wouldn't it be better and nicer IF IT WASN'T NEEDED? It does not say anywhere he took the Palestinians side- stop making up stories- can you for once have an open mind and listen to what people are saying? You read the title and immediately thought the worst- this is so typical of TBs here. Your country talks about peace- is that all it is, TALK? Wouldn't it be better if there WAS peace?
18. Silly old git. The wall is a sad but essential defense.
(05.15.09)
What do these people the Pope included think? Just why would any country spend billions on erecting the most ugly blots on the landscape? For fun? If the Pope cant work out why its there and indicate its effectiveness in reducing terrorist activities, then he is stupid.
19. The wall - sad but necessary
Ari   (05.15.09)
yes i've driven by the wall with its watchtowers. it looks like a prison. it is very sad. yet, suicide bombings evaporated after its construction. so what to do? people wanted to live in peace. they didn't want to build the wall, but suicide bombings forced the issue.
20. He should have been shown the door on day 1
aL   (05.15.09)
In 1967 the French Putz Charles D-dreck came to Quebec and stired the shit with the infamous Viive Le Quebec Libre. The very next day he was shown the door by the Canadian Prime Minister. Thats my friends how a country is supposed to behave. Stand up for your rights and dont allow yourselves to be a schmatta.
21. saddest site
Ilana   (05.15.09)
the fence??!! Not yad vashem? Not the room dedicated to one million murdered children?? NEVER forget the reason for the wall: to prevent future murders of innocent children!! What a farce! I think his statement says it all.
22. but the wall is necessary while the pope is not
i'd sooner not see ,   a wall or a pope   (05.15.09)
how amazing it is that the leaders of so many countries with huge problems of their own that they cannot seem to solve will continue to insist that they can see how to solve our problems for us ? if only we would obey them ? we don't tell them how they should solve their problems because it is none of our business and would be rude to do so-----imagine that--us being rude ?
23. ???????????????
Thomas   (05.15.09)
did you hear anybody say the fence was not necessary? Did anybody say it was Israel's fault? Did anybody say you had to take it down? NO-no-no---- it was statement: let's rephrase it for the slow readers..... "it is sad, that it is necessary to have a fence" - does this sound better? Nobody is critizising, nobody complained, nobody took sides.
24. #21 Said it all!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (05.15.09)
Pity people that do not care for Jews are against the fence. The popes had no trouble building walls around Jewish neighborhoods and creating ghettos. peres would welcome anyone coming to Israel, enemy or not. We hope someday that he will shut up or be shut in an institution.
25. #4 Pity you're not on the same flight out of here as him
Talula ,   Israel   (05.15.09)
26. Know what else is sad, Pope? Blind, limbless terror victims
shneer ,   Chicago   (05.15.09)
27. There are 12 fences in the world to separate ethnic groups
Aaron ,   SF, USA   (05.15.09)
Israel is dragged in front of The Hague for building a fence to protect its people from the jihadi murderers and the "international community" is horrified. Ladies and Gentlemen, there are 12 fences in the world to separate ethnic groups in conflict: There's one in Northern Ireland, between India and Pakistan, between Saudi Arabia and Yemen at the US/Mexican border, but there is no UN condemnation of these. It's not the fence, it's the Jews they don't like. The Conflict is not about the "occupation," --- Arab armies, 6 of them, tried to annihilate the Jewish people BEFORE there was an occupation. In fact if they did not attack there never would have been an occupation. The conflict is not about the fence, and it is not about the checkpoints. All these things are problems, yes. But the conflict is about Arab rejection of the very idea of a Jewish state.
28. "Anti-Semitism must be fought intensively."
(05.15.09)
Then how the hell is the world still standing idly by to the outrageous amount of Jew-hating media in Arab lands?
29. the POPE
Michael ,   New York   (05.15.09)
A fallible man who leads a fallible institution and the Jews are hanging on every breath of what this former Nazi Youth man says? I don't get it? The media, Israel's included, shoudl ignore the drivel that spews forth from this guy. Why does anyone CARE? A concerned Zionist American Jew.
30. The Pope is a Joke
Zohan ,   Tel Aviv   (05.16.09)
