Hamas didn't ask Hezbollah to join the war and it didn't want it to, either. Nasrallah and Hezbollah are expected to win the majority vote in Lebanon and so if it got into the war, the elections would be postponed. So, Hezbollah wants to make sure it keeps that support. Hezbollah knows that the time was not right to fight Israel, at least not yet. The state of lebanon and it's people are top priority to Hezbollah and nasrallah.
