61. religious fanatics
ari   (06.23.09)
they come in all creeds. these people are as disgusting as the mullahs in iran.
62. #54 - yeah I love that "It hurts our feelings" line
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (06.23.09)
Sounds like a buncha whiney kindergarten babies.
63. Sex and the city
Jack.d ,   Jerusalem   (06.23.09)
What a Joke. These religious fanatics have a sexual hang up. The cure is placing a brothel within their vicinity and I sure these extreme ultra orthodox cults would be the steady clientele for their services. There would be no need for modesty booklets as they would be too tired or busy
64. why do any of you yhink its your bizzness
izzy d   (06.23.09)
my confusion stems from the outraged outporing of talkbackers telling some weirdos that they have no no right to tell them how to live. a. if they cant tell you how to live, why can you tell them how to live? b. are you so egocentric that everything you read in the news (ynet no less) is directed at you? c. ah right, the politicly correct intolerance you display is to me more sickning then some weirdos who publish some weirdo demands that only weirdo people even care about. d. you all blather on about "live and let live" obviously this dosnt extend to the religious. you all need to get a life pronto. instead of responding to some asinine report in a notoriously anti religious publication why dont you mind your own bizness. its sad so sad.
65. izzi , why do you read it ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.23.09)
66. #64 has a point
Andy Kutnofsky ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.23.09)
I agree with #64 - why all this bitterness that borders on antisemitism? All this response means that deep down you all need to justify your behavior - which means you have a guilty conscious.... ahh now it makes sense. The Talmud relates the behavior of people in Jerusalem before the destruction - the adultery and the incest. Yes, we should tone down our dress code and yes, women (and men) need to be less provocative in their behavior. I am in full agreement that any violence or violent behavior is sick - those who beat up women deserve to burn, but sending a booklet that you have the freedom to dispose of - seems a legitimate expression of their feelings - as long as no violence or threats are there - and its in their own neighborhood. All these people complaining would take their shoes off if they went into a mosque - so why all this anger?!
67. Andy , very bad comparison
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.23.09)
When you go INSIDE a religious place of worship you behave as this place requires . Streets are NOT places of worship , are NOT owned by a segment of the population .
68.  Women
Rabbi Amram ,   Tel aviv Israel   (06.23.09)
Today with ponography every where, men are becoming horney. We do advise that women dress modest. Women must stay at home and take care of her family.
69. #68 Rabbi Amram
Lisa   (06.23.09)
Rabbi, this is really funny. Pornography every where? Where is everywhere? Not unless you LOOK for it- in magazines, on the net, in a brothel... what exactly are religious men doing there, I ask you? Women have to dress modestly, so the horny men don't molest them? Please- have you no self-control? There is modest which I can agree with- but to demand that women totally cover themselves because the Lords of the Universe do have immodest thoughts? re women at home: I know- barefoot and pregnant with your offsprings... You claim you have respect for women? Well, it does not show. You treat them like chattels, slaves- they are are told what to do- or else? Do you beat them? Do you get a kick out of that? While your women are at home taking care of the family, the men are out in the streets looking for and at harlots? Sorry- this does not add up.
70. @68 the problem is men not women!
(06.23.09)
71. 68 , Amram .
Chareles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.23.09)
Jawohl herr Amram . die KKK . Kinder , Kuche & Kirche [ Children , kitchen & church , that was the women's role in nazi germany ]
72. #69, #70, #71
Rabbi Amram ,   Tel aviv Israel   (06.25.09)
Lisa, Charles and the unknown @70 who ever you are: May I remind you that Israel is a Jewish non secular state. You will be nothing more than self hating jews. Get the hell out of Jewish Israel. You are not welcome. Oh Lisa, as long as you dress properly, you have nothing to worry about unless God did not bless you with the right equipment.
73. #72 Rabbi?
Lisa   (06.25.09)
thanks for the warning rabbi- this sounds actually like a threat to me- so much for peace loving Jews! Don't you worry your little head about my 'equipment'- it is spoken for by another Jew- a decent man- not a anal retentive religious fanatic- so there, happy? As for Israel being non-secular- there are plenty of Jews who disagree with you, they do not need my advocacy-. You would be NOTHING if it was not for the non-secular people who fought wars and built a country form nothing, so you can be safe in your little shul- thinking of ways to make life miserable for your people and the rest of the country.
74. #73
Rabbi Amram ,   telaviv Israel   (06.25.09)
Glad that your equipment is spoken for. As long as you dress modest and do not display what you have in public then I have no problem with you. Lets hope your husband keeps you on a leesh.
75. the 74 Rabbi Amram
Lisa   (06.25.09)
did I say husband? and wouldn't you just love to know , LOL
76. #75 Lisa
Rabbi Amram ,   telaviv Israel   (06.25.09)
I wouldnt love to know if you have a husband or not because I am simply not interested.
77. Rabbi [ ? ] amram and his theories
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.25.09)
First women's place is in the kitchen , now "keeps you on a leesh" Are those the rules your Torah teaches you ? Or do you take theories issued some 70 years ago as a model ? And , don't forget that it were mostly SECULARS , if not ANTI RELIGIOUS who gave their blood for this country . You don't like it ? Nobody will empeach you to leave us .
78. #75 Lisa
Rabbi Amram ,   telaviv Israel   (06.25.09)
What do you mean that "did I say husband"?????? Dont tell me that you live in sin????? What is this world coming to??? The end is near God save our souls.
79. to Lisa
Rabbi Amram   (06.25.09)
Lisa, we love women and we do respect them. but they must respect the wards of god. and they must respect and obey there husband. When i said that women must stay at home and take care of her family, this is the wards of god.
80. #77 Rabbi????
Lisa   (06.25.09)
yes, Charles, I too sometimes wonder about all the rabbinical wisdom here on TBs- . I am not keen on people who, instead of giving a straight answer give you quotes from the scriptures. as for the 'women belong in the kitchen' and 'keeping you on a leash'- there is no explanation needed- it says it all. And women JUST LOVE IT- when men speak that way. Such a turn on when a man sees you as a piece of furniture or a maid...LOL. it will take about another 50 or so years to get the chauvinists out from under a rock...
81. 79 amram
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.25.09)
You respect women ? in the kitchen on a leesh ! that's the way you do it . Does a woman who has'nt a husband live in sin ? You don't know anything about this Lady , and you say that she lives in sin . Very respectfull indeed !
82. #80 Lisa
Rabbi Moshe ,   Kiryat Shmone   (06.25.09)
Lisa you should have the fear of God in you. I agree with Rabbi Amram. You should wear your hear shorter and your skirt longer. Enough ruining the minds and souls of our youths by waving your skirts in the winds. Enough having Hezbollah advance while our youth think about nothing but beastly earthly pleasures induced by women strotting their stuff all over the place. Shame on you.
83. Rabbis Amram and Moshe
Lisa   (06.25.09)
don't get your drawers all in a knot- you can take a deep breath and relax: this lady is married- to the same husband for over 40 years- happy now? You got all excited over nothing- what made you immediately think I was a harlot, or living in sin? See- this is the way YOUR mind works- not mine. Just a word of advice from a lowly women: women do NOT want to be TOLD to stay home and do the dirty laundry... we know what to do without the 'lords of the universe' constantly repeating themselves... As for Love_ well- there are ways to show it and proof it- chaining a women to the sink isn't one of them.
84. Lisa , 83 it's very simple
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.25.09)
When a woman is not at their orders , when she is not in the kitchen on a leesh , when she does'nt obey them 100 % , she is a ........ And if they think that their women are happy with this situation , they are wrong , totally wrong . But those women can't complain , there is nobody who will listen . Their mothers live the same life of submission , and tell them that's how it has to be . Those men also think that bringing flowers on Friday is enough to show their "respect"
85. I'm just staying out of this awful place
Nomi ,   Israel   (06.25.09)
even though I dress exactly as these slobs demand. I wear three quarter sleeves longish skirts and high neck clothing, but you won't find me going anywhere near this narrow minded dump and its even worse bigoted inhabitants. So that keeps us all happy, chevreh. In my area we're all happy and all tolerant, and all are respectful. Can't ask for more. Who needs these louts? As I've said before, they get sweaty and ghastly as the three weeks approaches, and just wait for their looney antics in the 'nine days', ho ho. My goodness, give us Chabad and their tolerance any day. Sawn off tshirts, everything hanging out , mothers are greeted with a smile every morning. Shabbat Shalom and Good Shabbos to (nearly) all.
86. New Religeous Dress Code
Annabel Schneider ,   London   (06.26.09)
The 'Frum' jews should dress the proper way similar to simple Islamic type robes except not black They need to drop the modern dumpy look. Wigs must be banned for married women. A woman should cover her hair properly with a scarf or veil.
87. #86 Says Who?
Shy Tal   (06.26.09)
88. To number 86
Rabbi Amram ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (06.29.09)
I agree with you, but the people do not want to belive. This is the truth.
89. #86 why half-way
Lisa   (06.29.09)
why go only half-way? I think a Burqa would solve all the problems for the men who cannot control their animalistic urges. Women are doing it for the men after all- they would look all alike then: ugly Why bother asking for a little scarf, covering the hair, almost ankle length skirts, baggy tops-? since you are trying to hide the shape God gave you- ashamed of looking like a woman- go for it- cover it up. I am sure the Rabbi Amram would be ecstatic- .
90. Modesty
Motic ,   London   (07.01.09)
Jewish modesty in dress is something best transmitted from mother to daughter, not by Rabbis publishing laws. Rabbis should keep out of women's clothes!
