.....DACON9.   (07.08.09)
ALL YOUR TALKBACKS ARE CRITICAL OF JUDAISM AND OUR WAYS... YOU ARE NOT A JEW TO JUDGE JUDAISM OF WHATS GOOD OR BAD. .YOU DONT KNOW THE MEANINGS AND DEPTH YOU DONT HAVE A TORAH ORTHODOX RABBI TO EXPLAIN LAWS TO YOU. YOU HAVE A INSERCURE FEELING ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOU TRANSFER IT TO POUNCE OF JEWS.. WOMAN BELONG IN THE KITCHEN if that is objectionable and you havent learned the duties and woman and man on earth. if you havent learned the ways man must treat woman... that is your PROBLEM NOT JUDAISM AND NOT TORAH. YOU ARE ARROGANT WITH NOTHING TO BACK YOUR ARROGANCE YOU ARE DISRESPECTFUL WHICH NO RELIGION TOLERATES NO JEW here asked for your respect, you are the intruder stomping on Jews and we never asked you to come here. YOU should read even your bad books and that would make YOU a better person...even your worst books would be an improvement. No one took any womans rights..its all in your mind and ignorance of life and immaturity of your years. YOU ARE NOT A JEW. BUT YOU JUDGE AND REPRIMAND AND CORRECT on what you know nothing of... YOU BROUGHT UP ISSUES WHERE NOTHING OF THE SORT WAS SAID.. THERE IS A POSSIBLITY that you are under doctors care based on your baseless tirades. I dont have to come up with any argument . I am responding for the READERS to learn YOU REPRESENT NOTHING OF VALUE TO JUDAISM.. OR TO YOURSELF... YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH YOUR SELF .. STOP TAKING IT OUT ON US JEWS AND OUR WAYS AND OUR TORAH. TO COME TO A JEWISH NEWS SOURCE LIKE YNET WHICH IS WORLD REKNOWN,,YNET WHICH HAS MAYBE THE LARGEST READERSHIP THEN ANYONE.. AND AND TO JUDGE JEWS ITS TORAH AND ITS PRACTICES IS A BIGGER SIN THEN DOING IN IN YOUR CHURCH... OBVIOSLY YOU ARE OVERESTIMATING YOURREASON: THEY CALL THEY you feel superior to Jews by Judging Jews. it gives you a gratification to critisize us. you are just another flea in our history of antisemites in various guises
65. Kedusha - Shalom
EOD ,   USA   (07.08.09)
Hate to tell you folks, but R'Eliyahu is right - for a person who wishes to obtain high levels of personal sanctity (kedusha). Thus, soldiers who wish to reach levels of holiness must be allowed to do so without going to jail for it.
66. Charles #60: You are not being wholly honest.
Steve   (07.08.09)
It is you who should be ashamed; not me. You support the forcible removal of Jews from their homes and property so long as it is not by DEMOCRATIC means. I understand you do not like my comparison (analogy) but let us not forget, the Nazi party rose to power in Germany by DEMOCRATIC means. Hitler was appointed Chancellor by Hindenburg but he earned it in large part by means of the ballot. Now you may say Hitler dispensed with democratic institutions and trappings but so, many would argue, did Ariel Sharon. Sharon summarily fired cabinet ministers (at will) who disagreed with his policy of mass-expulsion, destruction of Jewish property and ignominious retreat. He replaced them with toadies and sycophants. Sharon pledged he would abide by the Likud party referendum on "disengagement." When it did not go his way he ignored it. But you Charles call this a "DEMOCRATIC government" even though you are fully aware there was nothing democratic about what Sharon did. Nor am I a champion of unbridled democracy. Many have rightly warned of the "tyranny of the majority." This is what happened in America last November with the rise of Barack Hussein Obama; the tyranny of the majority.
67. Those who criticize this rav..
Tuvia Schertzman,MD ,   Betar Ilit   (07.08.09)
do not understand Torah. Not only do you not understand the Torah, you are criticizing Judaism and are close to,if not antisemetic.

dear anonymous- rimes with ignoramus- doesn't it? I probably knew the word before you were even out of diapers- smart people ask questions- dumb people think they know it all!
69. Did he just say what I thought he said?

so much human ignorance.....and our wonderful female soldiers protect lunatics like this.....
70. Ricardo #34
Jacob ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (07.08.09)
If you are "easily aroused" why should that be a problem of women? Why should they solve your problem? Judaism teaches freedom of will as much as modesty, start working on your inclinations yourself.
71. Reasonable accomidations must be made for the religious
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (07.08.09)
Secular Israelis cannot have it both ways: they cannot, on one hand, demand that the religious serve in the army and then on the other hand refuse to make reasonable accomidations for the religious soldiers. If you want an army without religious people then stop complaining that the religious do not serve. if you want an army for the wntire nation then you MUST make reasonable accomidations for the religious soldiers, which would include allowing the soldier to skip this very non-essential singing performance. Secualr Israelis tend to push teh religious away with two hands and then cry that the religious aren't intergrated into society. Hey, andy from Ramat hasharon and avi from ranana; it takes two to tango! If you want to reject the observant jews as "wierd" "strange" and "primitive" you cannot expect them to behave like a part of the rest of israeli society.
72. kowtow to women
Tom Kenis ,   Brussels, Belgium   (07.08.09)
OMG, you guys have nuclear weapons...
73. Ovadia on women

74. He is right
Gur   (07.08.09)
One thing leads to another, feminism has destroyed what was left of the western world post-war. Let's have no part of it.
75. FALSE PROPHET!
sergio HaDaR tezza   (07.08.09)
This is the same person who said before the Jews were expelled from Gaza that "nothing will happen". The Torah definition of a FALSE PROPHET is someone who promises good things that then don't happen. He is also someone who forbade what's allowed (disobeying orders not to expel Jews from the Land of Israel), and now allows what's forbidden (disobeing orders because of something which is NOT EVEN clear-cut incontrovertible Oral Torah Law, but is a late CHUMRAH). CONFUSION, IS WHAT PEOPLE LIKE HIM SPREAD, AND THEY FORGOT EVEN THE BASIC: HA-MOSIF GORE'A, THOSE WHO ADD PROHIBITIONS TAKE AWAY FROM TORAH. They take away cavod from the Torah and do public Chillul Hashem by depicting as Torah laws things that are nothing but rabbinical build-ups on build-ups. How incredible that people like him always choose systematically the stricter opinions, which they then teach as shurath ha-din!...except when politically inconvenient, of course...
76. Reasonable accomodations must be made for the religious:
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (07.08.09)
In fact, more and more orthodox (other than the tough zionist-orthodox soldiers from the settlements with multi-coloured kippahs) are joining the IDF (since 2007) and serving well. This shift has occurred for two reasons: 1) The IDF has become more flexible and is not expecting the men to serve under women nor to be required to associate with female soldiers, 2) The orthodox need to get jobs as charitable contributions, which heretofore have sustained them, are no longer easy to come by and, as a result of joining the IDF, they are able to receive a modern education and will therefore find it easier to support themselves when they leave military duty. So much of the former circumstances with regard to the orthodox and national service does not apply to the same extent anymore. Female orthodox can now be seen doing national service (not in the IDF), incidentally. I hope this information assists Talkbackers.
77. He's wrong, but I look to the right of this screen and see
Michael ,   Galut   (07.08.09)
He's wrong, but I look to the right of this screen and see an add for a free game. The add has a large-breasted lady with blond hair, and where her stomach is it says "Best Free Web Gane" Below that it says: "Play" and below that it says "play now secretly" Hmmm I wonder what type of game that is. So... for the sake of profit, YNET attempts to direct readers to play stupid erotic games online. Tha's also wrong. Both extremes are wrong.
78. #60, Charles, what do you think of the Kfar Kasim massacre?
Michael ,   Galut   (07.08.09)
Should they have obeyed orders? I personally would have shot Lt. Gabriel Dahan. I would not have tried to kill him, but, that would likely have happened, had I been there. After the Kfar Kasim massacre, they came up with the idea of an "illegal order". An illegal order is an order that is very immoral. The idea is that slightly immoral orders should be obeyed, because the army cannot have every order being evaluated by soldiers. However, I do not agree with that. I don't think that it would cause major problems. Therefore, I think that soldiers should resist all immoral orders. However, from your point of view, and most other ppls, the only question that you have to ask yourself is: is the order immoral enough that it should be disobeyed. In the case of Gush Katif, how immoral is the expulsion of thousands of people from their homes, and from their businesses and communities that they have established with hard work over a twenty to thirty year period? Of course, that has already been done, but it is important to figure out principles to make judgements by for the future.

81. Steve , comparing murderers to Israeli soldiers
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.08.09)
is to be ashamed . I support the evacuation by DEMOCRATIC ways [ not as you willingly wrote : NOT by democratic means ] not the way you dishonestly distorted . Comparing Sharon to hitler : again be ashamed . And you dare to call yourself a Jew .

84. Michael 78
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.09.09)
It's again comparing an order to murder , order given by this commander WITHOUT any permission from a higher level , to a decision by a democratic government .

86. YNet has some explaining to do
Shlomo Silverstein ,   Maale Adumim, Israel   (07.09.09)
The article continues YNets record of presenting so called news about Orthodox Jewish issues with no background information or explanation, quotes out of context and distortions in order to intentionally mislead the reader and incite anti-religious hatred. All you secular Jews who have written in are being taken for fools by YNet. The main question about this is that the article states that it was written by an Orthodox Rabbi!!! - Levi Brackman. However, this article was clearly not written by an Orthodox Jew, let alone a Rabbi. There are simply too many errors made in ignorance or even made intentionally in order to incite hatred. YNet has some explaining to do.
87. #85 burqa

ghostq I like your sense of humor- must remember -
88. IGNORANT TB'ers
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (07.09.09)
Many TB'ers forget the source of this article, Ynet. Ynet is one of the most anti religious publications here and they hate anything to do with Rabbis and other Jewish institutions. Ynet's sole purpose is to put down and demonize Judaism and the religious Jew. Their agenda is to promote secularism and to destroy anything related to religion. There is a very likely possibility that Rabbi Eliyahu was misquoted, Ynet is not the holder of the truth to say it nicely and to try to avoid being censored, which they often do. They give many Jew haters the freedom of speech in many of the TB's, but anyone with a opinion, that exposes their dirty agenda, will most likely not pass their censorship. Besides that reading the many hateful TB’s by many people living here one can say that secular Zionism has succeeded in raising self-loathing Hellenists, who would be called anti-Semitic, if they would write this way in foreign publications. In all their elevated liberalism these same TB'ers lack any respect nor decency for someone with different norms. Todays so-called liberals are intolerant and act and behave as yesterdays Fascists.
89. #86 - simple
M ,   tlv   (07.09.09)
Ynet have the structure like this: Section Name (section editors - or whatever it's called) . Article name (article author) . . Seems Brackman don't mind his name up been up there but he is not the author. Just recheck things before complaining.
90. Rabbis prefer gay yeshiva boys
eddie ,   london UK   (07.09.09)
Actually, women singing is quite common in the Torah, and they would sing songs for King David and Saul, and Solomon. It is only the Rabbinic repression , whcih isolates boys, and leads to more homosexual conduct by both rabbis and their students. Whereas the torah permits womens voices, it forbids homosexuality. The rabbis permit homosexual abuse of young boys. So it is very queer indeed!
