1. Haredim should go their own hospitals. Oh, there aren't any?

2. Shame on the Hospital
Steve ,   NYC   (07.23.09)
"Hurting the Hadassah hospital is like hurting the entire Israeli society" >"Hurting a Jewish Woman is like hurting the entire Jewish nation" SHAME ON THE HADASAH HOSPITAL YOU DESERVE TO BE CLOSED DOWN FOR THE WAY YOU SHAMED "THE STATE OF ISRAELS HOSPITALS " IN THE WHOLE WORLD You asked for trouble now don't cry when it comes no one asked you guys to handle the story like you did? Here are some of the details of this case that beg for answers or explanations: • The expectant mother was placed in a cell with an Arab woman, a convicted murderer, who was constantly threatening to kill her. • She was not given appropriate food, and had almost nothing for three days. • The jail personnel showed her food sent to her by her mother - and then tossed it in the garbage in front of her eyes. • The jail personnel ensured that she would not be able to sleep a wink by using strong lights and creating noise around her cell constantly. • There was no bedding in her cell, forcing her to sleep on the concrete floor with no cushion or blanket. • The jail personnel told her that her baby was dead. • She was never informed that the city of Yerushalayim was up in arms in protest over her imprisonment. • She was not allowed a change of clothing during the entire period of her incarceration. • Her eyes became infected, because they would give her the lotion required for her contact lenses. • She was locked away for 10 days - with no one being permitted to visit her. Not family and not lawyers. • It broke the mother’s heart to see her baby starving and she couldn’t bring herself to eat anything whenever she was in the hospital. • A number of other people who had children in the same ward of the hospital have come forward with signed statements saying how they watched this mother’s utter devotion, commitment and care for this child. Several hospital volunteers have given written statements supporting the mother 100%. • The child hasn’t left the hospital for the past seven months. Didn’t the nurses and doctors notice that he was starving? Where were they all this time? Why didn’t they do something about it? • Why did so much time pass before suspicions emerged that the problem has to do with the mother and not with the child? What sort of needless and damaging treatments did he undergo? What did the hospital’s social work department do about the case? Was there an effort to handle this grave matter in cooperation with the community?

ME   (07.23.09)
Besides the many Mengele stories the hospital is accused of, they're fine... Did you notice that he did not accuse the mother and wouldn't because he knows the truth but can't admit it because... after all he's the Deputy Healthy Minister. And guess who'll get it over his afterwards...

I suppose your forgetting the laniado in Netanya which was the only hospital which never went on strike even while hadassa and all the others did because the CHARADI CASDISHE RABBI never let them because he said a hospital is ment to save lives not to strike because of money

11. Why Hurting Hasassah
Ben ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.23.09)
"Hurting the Hadassah hospital is like hurting the entire Israeli society" agree 100% with this, the only question I have is why Hasassah started up in a viscous way with this women when Hadassah knew that it could back fire?

13. What hypocrites
observer   (07.23.09)
The deputy minister ... recently infuriated the medical system due to his failure to support the hospital, after declaring that he plans to look into its conduct .... "Litzman should be backing the health system and its doctors, rather than slamming the system before looking into things. "The health system expects the deputy minister to fully back the system ... The deputy minister abandoned the doctors in favor of the community he belongs to." The unelected senior Health Official forgets that Litzman is an elected representative of the people charged with investigating mistakes; he may not blindly back the doctors version of events. Simply by announcing an investigation, without voicing any criticism, he comes under fire from the medical establishment. The doctors clearly have something to hide.

You sure bet I’m that mad even madder. As a Jew I’m embarrassed of the Israelis conduct . it reminds my of the story of yossele schumacher were the government made headlines of nothing to cover up for the GSS mistakes.
15. A good examples of why ministers should have experience
Yoni R. ,   Modiin, Israel   (07.23.09)
(This is not an anti-hareidi post.) This is what happens when ministers and deputy ministers are politically appointed. Litzman is not a doctor, nor does he have the necessary health-care experience to deal with such a situation. What competence does he have to "look into" the behavior of the hospital. When their claims clash with those of another interested party, on what basis is he going to decide whom to believe? H1N1 is getting worse. Let's hope that Bibi has the good sense to name a health minister, who has years if not decades of health care experience, sooner rather than later.

17. #2 quote your sources and it took so long because
rebecca ,   Modiin   (07.23.09)
Like any normal decent hospital they never guessed what was really going on. They did not think, oh a Hardi mother, she must be bad. They started looking for what was wrong with the child. Only after 7 months did they put in cameras to give 24 hour visual on the child and then it became obvious. As for shame on the hospital, most of your complaints are unsubstantiated and aginst the police/jails. No prisoner needs to know what is going on outside the prison. Haddasa is a good hospital, where all people are treated the same, well.
18. Yoni R # 15 , there are not many experienced ministers
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.23.09)
They all have people around them , specialists in their fields , who advice them with their knowledge .
19. #13 You're the hypocrtite
sam ,   samville   (07.23.09)
Litzman paid $51,000 toward the baby abuser's bail. He interjected himself into the case on the side of the abuser. This is not how an unbiased elected representative should act. You are clearly defending a hack.
20. Steve - From Right to Wrong
Erich ,   Jerusalem   (07.23.09)
Steve is of course correct that there are chareidi-run hospitals in Israel. And Steve is of wrong when pinning the blame for the latest chareidi assault on Israel or Hadassah. And his comparison to the Yossi Schumacher case is odious - with Schumacher Israel returned a child to his parents; with the latest case Israel is trying to protect a child from his parents. The only common denominator is that it demonstrates how the chareidi religion values its hatred of Israel over its concern for children.

22. Rebeca from Modiin, people today don't think, they jump
m   (07.23.09)
True all hospitals treat patients the same (more or less), but all hospitals, when they make a mistake, they COVER. The story is not black and white, and I know that secular people salivate at the prospect to have a haredi do something bad, but there are issues not covered by this media, so please no need to jump to conclusions until the air is cleared. By the way the psychiatrist found her OK. Also the woman has other children, if she was a homicidal maniac why this one in particular?

observer   (07.23.09)
Did Litzman get involved as a govt official? I've not seen that reported anywhere. Maybe you have inside info. All I know is that Litzman announced publicly and in court that he got involved personally in order to calm the situation. Apparently on his MK wage he could afford to put up part of the bail. But who really cares when it comes to bashing the haredim?

25. #23 Spare us the nonsense!
sam ,   samville   (07.23.09)
You can't separate the two. His reasons are irrelevant. As the health minister he should remain unbiased. But who cares, right? When it comes to the haredim no rules of conduct, ethics, or laws, apply.
26. #22
sam ,   samville   (07.23.09)
No, all hospitals do not cover up their mistakes. And the lies being spread about the child being misdiagnosed with cancer and given chemotherapy are nonsense. Any one familiar with healthcare and cancer would know it on it's face that it is a lie. And the psych did not find her "okay." Her supporters are the ones saying that. Also, the psychiatrist job is to determine whether she is fit to stand trial since her mental state has been called into question. Child abusers characteristically pick on one child. If that child dies or is removed from the home, they begin abusing another.
27. For Litzman and his community, the life of a child is less
David Turner ,   Richmond, USA   (07.23.09)
important than the opportunity the arrest of his abusing mother, member of that community, in providing an issue to attack the secular state. This incident is part of a continuing effort to bring down the State of Israel, of a fabric with Sherman of the Conversion Court overturning a decade of legal conversions under the leadership of the Court*s pro-Zionist Rabbi Druckman. Or the raising of the perennial Who is a Jew in the Knesset, an issue which, if enacted, would disenfranchise millions of Israelis and alienate the Diaspora. I hesitate to call these haredim persons as they show no human compassion or responsibility for any but themselves and their selfish and narrow interpretation of Halacha. In any other country their behavior would at minimum invite investigation by the authorities. In Israel, because of its anarchic coalition electoral system in which no single party or combination of centrists can form a government, where the relatively moderate centrists are compelled to turn to extremist parties demanding extortion, exorbitant compensation for their participation, compensation such as the Ministry of Health for starts; exemption from service in the army; compensation for large families allowing all to avoid employment, etc. This is not merely a question of impact of the anti-Zionist haredim affecting the quality of life of Israel*s current residents, but of the transformation of identity the state is projecting to our Diaspora as intolerant of any but those who fastidiously live according to Halacha. This image is increasingly alienating the Diaspora, contradicting the very reason Israel was created by the Diaspora: to serve as refuge for all Jews, even those back to a single grandparent, targeted by the next effort of the Christian west to finally solve its 2,000 year long Jewish Problem. Israel*s choice is to remain true to its universalist and democratic Zionist mission, a secular state welcoming and encouraging all Jews, or to continue blindly on its path towards failure as Zionist and state. It all rests on limiting the influence of these haredim. It all rests on reforming the political system.
28. U.S. Healthcare: CUT YOUR LIFE SHORT
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.23.09)
Obama promised HOPE and CHANGE. The media never asked what frightening changes Obama planned for Americans. WORLDNETDAILY.COM July 22, 2009 Obamacare for old folks: Just 'cut your life short' Health plan provision demands 'end-of-life' counseling By Bob Unruh The version of President Obama's universal health care plan pending in the U.S. House would require "end-of-life" counseling for senior citizens, and the former lieutenant governor for the state of New York is warning people to "protect their parents" from the measure. At issue is section 1233 of the legislative proposal that deals with a government requirement for an "Advance Care Planning Consultation." Betsy McCaughey, the former New York state officer, told former president candidate Fred Thompson during an interview on his radio program the "consultation" is no more or less than an attempt to convince seniors to die. "One of the most shocking things is page 425, where the Congress would make it mandatory absolutely that every five years people in Medicare have a required counseling session," she said. "They will tell [them] how to end their life sooner." McCaughey also said the Obama administration is suggesting that medical care be withheld from seniors based on the expected years they have left to live. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.printable&pageId=104719 Obama's Civilian National Security Force Obama promised change. The End of America as we know it: Obama: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwaAVJITx1Y PRAVDA: America's Descent into Marxism - Brief Video http://www.solutionsfromscience.com/
