Ilan ,   Arei   (11.15.09)
During the expulsion from Gush Kaiff they thew Jewish kids about the same age into jail for several weeks. B'tzelem couldn't have cared less.
32. this boy probably knows exactly what he is doing
(11.15.09)
he was throwing stones at the apparthied soldiers , who are causing him to wake up 2 hours before his time ,so he can be in school on time after waiting at some check point instead of being in bed , imagine your children having to go through the same thing everyday of their lives ??

A ten-year old heeds a call to attend a protest, made by someone who knew full well that Palestinians deliberately incite violence at protests. What kind of person deliberately puts a child in harm's way? Oh. I know the answer to that. That would be Palestinians. We know that Palestinians have sold their children to be suicide bombers and have routinely used their children as human shields. But this case falls on its face from the get-go. Two scratches would not be the outcome of being beaten by clubs on one's leg. I am a Zionist, and proud to be one. How proud are you to be Palestinian? Or, as we have seen, is it all only about exploitation? What is more venomous than selling one's child or using him as a human shield? Why was this ten-year old allowed to go and do something without asking a parent for permission? Why was he allowed to run wild in the street? Why do Palestinians foster a culture which teaches children that throwing stones and fostering violence is a good thing? That, sadly, is what being a Palestinian appears to be all about. Pretty venomous and vicious if you ask me.

if my child would come to me and ask me Why are we bieng treated like animals ? Why are the zionists stealing our land ? Why are my people being killed and tortured with no mercy ? Why is my brother or cousine in jail ? Why didnt they let the pregnant woman go through the army baracade for treatment ? and Why and Why and Why ? i think my answer to him would be , because the zionists love us so much , and they want to protect us , they want us to have a better life , but not in our homes ,but in 1 of the refugee camps scattered all over the arab world , and if we decide we dont want to leave our homes and lands ,then we have to live like animals , because thats what they chose for us !!!!!!

Waiting at the checkpoint to go to school ?? What are you talking about?? The Palestinian kids go to school in GAZA not in Israel. Most of these kids are in the streets (of Gaza) throwing stones & causing trouble instead of being in school. And do their parents care ? No they dont.

"Why are we bieng treated like animals ?" How would you characterize the behavior of someone who deliberately self-detonates his suicide belt on a crowded bus? For that matter, how would you characterize the behavior of someone who would sell their son to detonate himself on a crowded bus? Frankly, I think "animal" is too good a characterization. Answer that, I'll answer yours. "Why are the zionists stealing our land ?" Why did the Palestinians three times refuse a two-state solution? Why did they incite six wars and sixty-one years of terror? Why do they think that land which was purchased from the Ottoman Empire is theirs when they cannot produce deeds but the sale of the land is well-documented? Why cannot the Palestinians learn to accept the consequences of their own poor decisions? Why is it always someone else's fault that they are responsible for the deaths of thousands through violence and terror? Why are they so primitive? "Why are my people being killed and tortured with no mercy ?" Why did Palestinians mercilessly target civilian centers in northern Israel? Why did Palestinians fire 12,000 rockets over an eight-year period -- on a daily basis -- at Jewish civilian centers in Sderot? Why did they torture people like that? "Why is my brother or cousine in jail ?" Well, which is it? Why are you posting hypotethical questions? Why did [your] brother/cousin commit acts of terror and violence? "Why didnt they let the pregnant woman go through the army baracade for treatment ?" Why didn't she go to one of the eight hospitals built by Israel in Judea and Samaria? Did not the Palestine Authority maintain them? Why did the Palestine Authority allow three hospitals to close down? Why do the Palestine Authority not look after their own people with all the money they have received? Why and Why and Why and Why? Why have the PA, Hamas and Hizbollah leadership grown rich at the expense of the Palestinian people? Why have they used the billions of dollars and billions of euros in cash aid to build grand homes, purchase lavish second and third homes in Europe and establish very hefty foreign bank accounts? Why have they not used all that money to maintain infrastructure, reduce the staggering unemployment and attract foreign investment? Why do the thirty-odd organizations each purporting to represent the Palestinian people refuse to repudiate their charters, which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people? Why do you blame blame Israel for ongoing refugee status of certain Palestinians? Why haven't your brothers Arabs resettled them? Why have they left you to rot in those festering refugee camps? Why don't you accept the fact that those Arabs who left their homes to make way for the "conquering Arab armies" are refugees, but those who did not heed the call are citizens of Israel enjoying one of the highest standards of living of Arabs anywhere? Why do Palestinians continue to deny the fact that Zionism is nothing more than the nationalist movement of the Jewish people to return to their ancient and historical homeland? Why don't Palestinians accept the fact that Arabs come from the Arabian peninsula? Why do they refuse to acknowledge that Arabs are your quintessential nomads and that Palestine was a dismal and barren place, sparsely populated, until the Jews came and turned it into a beautiful land and that then -- and only then -- did the Palestinian Arabs decide that it was their homeland for centuries? Why and Why and Why and Why?

"even a child can break the law, therefore there is punishment. excuse me while i get my microscope to see the scratches (scratches from beatings?) on the little criminal. " Mike - This boy was arrested by the soldiers of a country he is not a citizen of, and was arrested in what said country does not formally consider its own territory. He might have disobeyed the military orders of an occupying army, but he broke no law.

Why are we bieng treated like animals ? - actually you are being treated better than any other county in the middle east treats palestinians. Why are the zionists stealing our land ? - you must mean land you lost in wars you started, which was the price of being foolish. Why are my people being killed and tortured with no mercy ? - israel kills terrorists on purpose, civilians who terrorists use as human shields by accident. torture? palestinian prisoners have it better in israeli jails than anywhere in the middle east. Why is my brother or cousine in jail ? - because israel shows mercy to terrorist who don't deserve it by not killing them. Why didnt they let the pregnant woman go through the army baracade for treatment ? - because terror groups have used willing pregnant women in the past to commit terror or enable terrorists to commit terror. a little advice: give up terror completely and live in peace. then there will be no "and why and why and why ?". simple (yet so hard for you).

I won't go into each of your indictments but here's something to think about before you continue to make typical Arab propaganda statements: Potential female suicide bombers have disguised themselves as pregant women in order to get into Israel to supposedly go to hospital but, in reality, to cause havoc and mayhem. Our socalled "merciless" system imprisons Arab criminals, terrorists and sabotage agents (and Jews) and offers them education, freedom to communicate with their families, family visits and food appropriate to their religious needs. All prisoners receive visits from the Red Cross or the Red Crescent. What does Gilad Shalit receive? As to being "treated like animals", many Arabs from Samaria and Judea are working in construction and in other occupations and are making a good living and, in fact, do better than many Jews as they pay no taxes. Your broadcast, incidentally, shows that you really do not understand the situation in Israel as you are taken up with hyperbolic drama, grade C variety. If you are going to contribute in the future, it would be appreciated if you would offer either new information with facts, an interesting analysis of the situation or an original perspective. Your hyperbole might work "out there" but not at a mainly Jewish website like Ynet. I'm making the effort to correct you so that in the future you may add to theTalkback section and not clutter it up with such blatant and false moral indignation as you've done here. Here's a hint: The real problem for Palestinians re Israeli Jews may be that they (Jews) are seen as agents of fast paced modernization which the older generations find challenging. How about writing on that subject?

A Jewish settler kid that throws stones on Arabs in Hebron does not even get a shouting at from the IDF soldiers stationed there. A Palestinian kid throwing stones at occupying military forces gets arrested. Someone, please tell me why this is fair?

Breaking news: Throwing stones(at people) in this part of the world IS considered breaking the law.
42. BIG DEAL HE SPENT 11 HOURS IN JAIL
zionist forever   (11.15.09)
He wants to take part in a stone throwing demonstration then he is not going to be told he is grounded. Good short sharp shock like less than half a day in jail isn't going to hurt him but it might discourage him from taking part in any more of these demonstrations. The boy says himself he was given food & drink and treated well so whats the problem?

Last week, 15 junior high students (12-15 year olds) were arrested and held at the police station for up to 12 hours. Their crime? They had a food fight in the school's cafeteria. No details regarding whether they were served pita with labaneh during their incarceration.
44. 37 - if occupier is bound by int'l law, so is the occupied
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.15.09)
civil and criminal laws are not negated or suspended under occupation. israel is obligated under international law to do a lot, and also has the right under international law to keep the peace and maintain order. besides, throwing rocks at soldiers is the height of stupidity anywhere in the world. if this arrest has made the boy think twice about doing it again, maybe he'll eventually thank the soldiers for saving his life. but, as is the custom of palestinians, there s no guarantee that might happen.
45. Why was the IDF there?
Truthseeker ,   USA   (11.15.09)
Tulkarem is not in Israel. Tulkarem is in Palestinian lands, lands illegally occupied by Israel. When the IDF shows up there is no reason why the residents should not demonstrate against them or even throw rocks at them. The IDF does not belong there. They are illegal occupiers. I'll bet if Israel proper were occupied by another country, where Israeli land was continually confiscated, where checkpoints were in place to thwart Israeli terrorists etc. etc. and the military came into, Safed for example, the citizens of Safed would do more than just throw rocks. They would probably be shooting assault rifles at the occupiers. Maybe all of you who rail against the stone throwers would prefer that assault rifles were used. These stone throwers are small Davids attacking the mighty Goliath of Israel.
46. Iran sent 10 year olds into the front lines
zionist forever   (11.15.09)
During the Iran / Iraq war Iran drafted 10 year old boys to use as soldiers. Amnesty International which loves the palestinans so much recently condemned them for using children to carry terrorist weapons and use them to take part in armed conflict. Palestinian terrorists in the past have used 10 year olds to test the security barrier. They threaten them and tell them to try climb the barrier look for weaknesses because they know that IDF soldiers are authorized to shoot people trying to get over the barrier. The terrorist isn't expendable but the children are. Israel just beats children with clubs which they come out of with a few little scratches.

When american police hold you in jail and beat you with clubs you come out of it with serious injuries not a few little grazes which look more like they have come from him playing in the bushes rather than getting beaten up with a club.
48. Mike, interesting
andrew r   (11.16.09)
I didn't think ynet posters cared about int'l law. Israeli civilians aren't supposed to be in the occupied territory at all. See art. 49 of the 4th Geneva, "The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies." More prima facie evidence that Israel has no interest in int'l law, in art. 49: "Individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory to the territory of the Occupying Power or to that of any other country, occupied or not, are prohibited, regardless of their motive." art. 76: "Protected persons accused of offences shall be detained in the occupied country, and if convicted they shall serve their sentences therein." We know many Palestinian prisoners are held in Israel. Although this only scratches the surface, these are violations you can't begin to pretend Israel doesn't commit. Which makes the reasoning that Israel arrests people to maintain order...less than believable.
49. 48 - look at palestinians elsewhere in middle east
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.16.09)
why: -palestinians say life was better under occupation? why do gazans prefer israeli rule to their self-rule? -palestinians reportedly being deported from gulf states for no reason? being killed and run out of iraq? -palestinians being kept in squalor in refugee camps with no rights of citizens in the levant? why do west bankersand gazans have better lives than what is provided by the arab brothers? israel goes above and beyond what international law says in many things (not everything), despite having to deal with terrorists and terror supporters. you cannot compare israel to arab's regard for international law with respect to palestinians and human rights. at least israel tries.

53. The territories are occupied
Truthseeker ,   USA   (11.16.09)
There are those who wish to deny that Israel is illegally occupying the West Bank and illegally occupied Gaza but their denials are baseless. International law has declared that the territories are occupied and one of Israel's heroes, Ariel Sharon, declared that these are occupied territories. In fact the occupation of these territories by Israel is one of the longest ongoing occupations in modern history.

i am shocked by the tone and hatred in many of the comments posted. hello people, this is a ten year old who threw a rock. in most countries, he would be protected by law which would not allow him to be detained without his parents/guardian. furthermore, physical assault by police, army, or any other institution as such are against the law ... withholding food and drink is also not allowed. when not acting according to the law in particular with minors/children how can you even consider them 'guilty' of throwing a rock if what you, as an adult are doing to him is worse? it will be the actions of these 'lawless' police/officers that will seed disregard for the 'rule of law' because of the very early experience on how the 'rule of law' is unjust. shame on you adults who advocate physical and mental harm to minors.

Truthseeker, I sent you posts which include direct references to both United Nations Security Council resolutions and direct references to the Hague Conventions. So why keep lying about what international law dictates? Clearly you know nothing about international law and the rules governing acquisiton of non-sovereign territory by a nation during the course of fighting a defensive war. Take your crap and shove it "Truthseeker." Your defihition of "truth" necessarily includes elements of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish bias. We're onto you. This isn't an AOL chat room. This is a forum for thinking, rational and intelligent people. Oops! That leaves you out. Unless you would like for me to humilate you yet again, my recommendation would be that you stay away. Or haven't you noticed that nearly everyone ignores you. Try the Al-Jazeera website; that would be more atturned to your ignorance and ad hominem denunciations of Israel. Have fun. Don't come back.

58. Nice comment birgitta
andrew r   (11.17.09)
The reason this ten year old kid faces so much hostility is because he's Palestinian and in Zionist ideology living in his land is a privilege, not a right. Said privilege is contingent on good behavior such as disappearing on command by the Aryan Defense Forces or quietly bleeding to death without retaliation, which would've happened to Ahmad Mohammed Karan had a Palestinian doctor not removed a bullet from his stomach (sorry, that example was for the other posters). These people who call Hussam a lawbreaker and such are annoyed that he wasn't shot - c.f. the first comment calling him a terrorist in training. Then he would be one less Palestinian taking up Jewish land. You may be able to bring some human decency to this hellhole. I wish you luck.
