Noor The reasons that Israel hasn't had any overwhelming victories in recent years are mainly the left wing members of the government who are peace process obsessed will intentionally not let the IDF take the gloves off and as a result we only get jobs that are half done which is worse than doing nothing at all. Lebanon 2006 was a disaster because of the people at the top and a decade of budget cuts because the peace process was going to be our saviour. The bafoon Olmert Amir Peretz whose defenition of pre emptive strike had more to do with unions demanding a pay rise rather than anything to do with the military. Dan Halutz the chief of staff a former air force general that was convinced the whole operation could be won with air power and refused to listen to the officers in the field who wanted more men and were saying we need more infantry to win this not jets. Also thanks to budget cuts the IDF might buy a tank but to save money they may not spend that little bit extra on a system to protect that tank from anti tank rockets. As a result some tanks were damaged & I believe 2 destroyed. Also again to save money some reserves hadn't been called up for training for years at a time and so skills were forgoton After Lebanon lessons were learned The IDF started spending money and reserves started getting more training. Cast Lead was very successful until Olmert decided to once again refuse to listen to the IDF officers who were calling for about an extra week. Olmert though unilaterally pulled out before the job was done & Hamas started working again. If an Israeli government said to the IDF commanders you run this your way, and we will not hold you back in anyway at all then the Hamas & Hizbollah would be smashed beyond recognition. Israel has the firepower all it needs is a will to use it and if its pushed to far then it will throw everything its got at you. Next time Southern Lebanon & Gaza might just get flattened.

How pathetic that a prisoner release of terrorists in exchange for one kidnapped and abused Israeli soldier who should have been released long ago, is a major accomplishment. The stateless Palestinians now have less land than was offered them in '47. No economy, no infrastructure, insufficient medical facilities while dependent on foreign aid, donations and Israeli transfer of goods, medical care/supplies and funds. The Palestinians exist but perpetuate a state of failure to garner world sympathy. I honestly would like to see the Palestinians succeed but no matter what any country, group or individual does for them, they never progress.
