61. Druse hero
dani   (02.10.10)
another Druse hero for israel. BIBI you better go to kafr mghar and re-pave the roads with your own bare hands. these people are putting their lives on the line for the jewish state and we had better respect that. frankly, i think that out of respect to the Druse israel really needs to make a broad change. this should be not only the Jewish state but the Druse state as well. sounds crazy? why not? after all, they don't have a state either.
62. soldier killed
debbie ,   israel   (02.10.10)
TO MIKE VAN HARRIS Oh Jeeze, the solution is so easy! Why did the IDF not think of your solution earlier????? Simply not be there! Maybe the soldiers are there, trying to protect the Israeli population from murdering terrorists like the one in this article, so that they will be stopped from crossing the border and coming into Israel to do suicide attacks and murder innocent people. Have you ever thought of that, dummy?
63. # 45
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
I will second that Sarah B. we Jews are here in Israel to stay.We have no intentions of leaving. This is our land & no one will take it away from us. Jews have always been hated & will always be. Am Israel Chai.
64. # 43 & 44
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
I see that 2 of your postson this same subject were deleted by the moderator in Ha'aretz. Most likely the same rot as your # 43 & 44 here.
65. #41
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (02.10.10)
What if the US occupied Canada because Canada was indiscriminately killing people via bus bombings, suicide murderers and rockets and refused to stop or even talk?
66. #60 - Birdi
Eyal ,   USA   (02.10.10)
I think Syria and/or Hezbollah will get it, not the Palestinians. Just imagine if Iran tries to transport a nuclear bomb and Israel finds it? It will be a waist of a bomb for Iran. Syria or Hezbollah will get it, cause no one is stoping the shipments to Syria or Lebanon, but I think Israel will stop Iran before the completion of the bomb. What I'm worried about is; biological weapons, cause I think Syria already has it. Who know, Hezbollah may have it now too, just hope Hamas doesn't have it.
67. #3 - Has Israel annexed the historical Jewish WB?
William ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
I don't believe Israel has made that step, ergo, Arabs living their wouldn't be offered any Israeli citizenship, just as they weren't offered Lebanese citizenship. Your claim of apartheid is based on your own definition, not surprisingly. Certainly the Arabs in the WB can be Israeli citizens, after an annexation, if they offer to do one thing (per UNR194, 242, etc.) - Cease ALL aggression against Israel, become loyal to the State, and end the "war". My guess is - while the average Arab in E. Jerusalem who is all too happen to receive Israeli benefits would accept that, people of your hatefilled racist ilk, wouldn't. And there lies the crux of the problem...one that seems to be permeating into other issues, like Jordan revoking of citizenship from "pals" and UAE not renewing visa of "pals".
68. # 58
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
Nope, Khatib was a Druze, not a Palestinian.
69. #11 - How are you sure, Rami?
William ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
I admit, the Police don't call all of their citizens to keep them abreast of all of the on-going investigations, but many settlers who do commit crimes are appraoched and remanded. You should complain more about the lack of follow-through on information like this rather than decry the entire State. But I will say this - those incidents reported are often based on conjecture by media and not corrected in future reports. So you may hear a settler attacked a "palestinian" but not hear that infact it was an accident, or a lie, or not involve a settler at all. Unless you know all of the facts, can you really make an educated conclusion?
70. To: Kate at No. 49
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.10.10)
Thank you for your kind words. It is unfortunate that the situation is what it is, but Israel is here to stay. No matter what. And if the preservation of our unique identity as a Jewish state means that certain people will have to leave, so be it. There is no room in the Jewish state for people who agitate for our destruction.
71. "Palestinian security forces" are terrorists in uniforms.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
Just as there is no "Palestine" and there are no "Palestinians", there are also no "Palestinian security forces". All are fictitious. "Palestinian security forces" are merely terrorists in uniforms. It's time to end the dangerous scam once and for all.
72. #20 - Marwan is our Mandela
William ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
Yeah - keep saying that to yourself the next time Marwan attempts a fake hunger strike. Perhaps you can send him a file in a bucket of hummous.
73. 41 David
Jacob ,   B7, IL   (02.10.10)
I think you would not do that. You'd protest peacefully, you'd block roads, burn tires etc. If you are of the violent type you'd probably try to assasinate the US President responsible for the occupation of your country... But you would NOT stab just SOMEBODY, sitting in a car, because your are not racist, true?
74. livni has to go
marcel   (02.10.10)
I am n o fan of mofaz and kadima es[especially after the olmert period of weakness, but primaries must be held soon for kadima for one main reason-livni. She wants to be PM. She tells us not to allow golan tax breaks for a few weeks because the situation is hot and assad is angry. So she does not want to do anything to make him angry. For this she cannot be PM. I didn't think she was a frightened as Olmert, but she is. I am not afraid of assad or moallem. I don't want war but I don't fear it. We will get it but they will get it triple including the stealthy big mouth nasrollah. Livni runs to her advertising husband to guide her, because its been such a tough day. Livni, take a course in martial arts or boxing. Enouigh of this olmert ramon cowardice. You have a bad case of cowardice that you should driveout of your system. Sharon did not appoint you and olmert to do the things you have done since his stroke. If the primaries are held you are finished. There is no way you will win.
75. # 66
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
Eyal, all I can say is thank G*d we have "it". True, transporting nuclear bombs to Gaza would be impossible. Thanks for your answer.
76. #57 Rami. "Palestine" is fictitious, like Oz and Neverland.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
Rami, no "Palestinian" state is needed now or ever. Atleast on Judea and Samaria. "Palestine" is a geographic term like "Eurasia". It is fictitious, like Oz and Neverland. You have 22 Arab states and dozens of Moslem states to choose from. This tiny land is ours now and forever.
77. #44 - that refers only to private property, not public
William ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
The Intl Law you (I assume) are referring to relates only to private property. Public land can be expropriated, which is what most of the WB and Gaza are. Infact, Intl Law supports Israel in this fact as the "palestinians" who claim ownership of this land as a whole do not own it at all. It was transferred from the Turks, to the Brits, taken and annexed illegally by the Jordanians who subsequently rescinded claims on it after won by Israel. No where does Intl Law cover the taken of State property from a State to give to private citizens who wants to effectively declare independence for themselves. It there was such a law, the Kurds, the Basques, the Tamils, the Flemish, and the smaller ethnic groups in Arab ME and Central Asia would all have their own States by now per UN law. But they dont.
78. #57 - are you the "rami of Nazareth" that posts here?
William ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
Looks like tribal hatred has finally reached you through the constant venom of your Arab MKs who encourage you to do nothing for the community except demand services in return for violence. Exactly how are settlers living freely on the expense of the Arab populace?? The settlers have created their own cities and industries while Arabs continue to attack them, steal their stuff, then complain they have no economy though they hardly work. And indigenous they are not - a people are not considered "indigenous" unless the resided in an area for as long as history can remember - like aboriginals in Australia. Arabs in WB came in two major sweeps - one as conquerers to steal, rape, and pillage in 642 AD, and again as illegal economic migrants in the 1930s. Neiether of these incidents support your false claim.

Israel Forever ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
There are no Palestinian arabs in the Israel Defence Forces.
80. Condolences to the soldier's family
Noa ,   Beer Sheva   (02.10.10)
And thanks for letting your son/father/brother/husband serve in the IDF, thanks for being loyal citizens.
81. #1 - whem soldiers weren't there, terrorists were here
William ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
There's a reason soldiers are there, manning checkpoints. When our soldiers weren't there - terrorists were here, killing our civilians in buses and cafes. nuf said.
82. To Sarah B..With appreciation>> I wrote moreYnet Second Try)
Kate ,   ISRAEL(forever)   (02.10.10)
Ynet has not publishe my response where I pointed out the fact concerning the so-called arab Palestinians who had rejected the the partition during the Mandate. Their object is not the occupation, for it is they who are occupying MY COUNTRY. What I pointed out to hameed from Iran's post ,was apt and he is a wise and good interlocutor. His correct assumption on who are the real indigenous people--NOT the arabs but the Jews. The reminder for Nour again and again: If she insists on thinking this country OF MINE belongs to them, then why not inform us of the following: Who was therr king, What was the name of their currency, Were there EVER any archeological artifact pertaining their existence found? They are the interlopers, occupiers and NOT US JEWS. Additionally her and ilk belong in Jordan where 78 % of her brethren live. More: The Arabs have used them as pawns since the British mandate, and still do so. The refugees are kept for this purpose to try and dismatle Israel. Well, they had better appreciate we are here to stay, for it was/is our country forever. There was much more but time is of the essense. I hope that this response gets published for I am somewhat annoyed they did not, while letting in the long datribe by the observer trough.
83. # 68 Samer kantar wasa Druze, wasn't he?
Israeli   (02.10.10)
84. #77 neither private nor Public occupied land
observer   (02.10.10)
Public property. Under Article 55 of the Hague Regulations, an occupant may only administer public property as a usufructuary. It does not gain sovereignty or title over any part of occupied territory. Further, Article 49 provides that the occupying power may only use the resources in the occupied territory “for the needs of the army or for the administration of the territory in question.” Seizures or uses of property meant to serve the broader interests of the occupying power or its inhabitants are not permitted. Israel thus has no right to sell Palestinian state land. Nor does it have a right to lease state land for long periods or for the purpose of settlement. Private property. With few exceptions, an occupant must “respect private property” and may not confiscate it. In practice, however, Israel has confiscated substantial amounts of private Palestinian property. Kurds, Basques, Tamils are no comparable example as unlike the Palestinian West Bank, their lands are not occupied according to the international law.
85. #80 Noa - Thank You.
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (02.10.10)
Noa: Thank you for stepping back from all this contention, inserting a human touch and stating the obvious which we have all overlooked. Sincere sympathy to the soldier's family with deep gratitude that cannot be repaid.
86. #77 the West Bank is occupied
observer   (02.10.10)
The United Nations Security Council (Resolution 446 Resolution 465 and Resolution 484, among others), the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, have each resolved that the territories of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem are occupied and that the Fourth Geneva Convention provisions regarding occupied territories apply.
87. Number 1 - You support terroirsm.
clear and simple   (02.10.10)
88. al-Khatib killed Khatib
observer   (02.10.10)
first for being occupying soldier, secondly for siding by enemy.
89. #41 David in Canada - Occupied?
Dallas ,   Canada   (02.10.10)
You are like so many other leftist Canadians who have been fed the lie that the territory is "occupied". What sovereign state is occupied anyway? Hint: Israel liberated the territory from Jordan's illegal occupation in 1967. Get the facts straight - only then can you arrive at rational viewpoints. BTW, you also have ignored the reason the IDF has to be there in the first place.
90. # 88
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
Al-Khatib most likely did not know that Khatib was a Druze.
