1. Have you no shame?
Tony ,   Raanana Israel   (03.30.10)
A sitting US president, resoundingly elected by the American people, not to mention the Jews of America, and to you, he is the new pharoah. Are you stupid, or just sick? True idiot wind blowing around your house.
2. Next year in Al Quds!!!
Steve from Raleigh   (03.30.10)
Did they close the Seder that way? Or did they just ululate and wrap green bandannas around their heads?
3. Drama Of Tearful Emotional . :)
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.30.10)
Mr.Moshe Dann,Go and write fictional stories, maybe you'll get the Nobel Prize ...Can you believe I do not know whether to laugh or cry?
4. :: Believing in a myth
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (03.30.10)
The Exodus is just a myth; there is no evidence that this ever took place. There is no evidence that the likes of Moses or Jacob ever existed and Moses certainly never wrote the first five books in the bible. When one looks at scripture and looks at the logistics of the so-called Exodus it is quite clear that the story has no merit. In fact aside from scripture (which was written by a primitive superstitious people and totally biased towards their own self-serving mythology) there is no evidence or proof to back up any of the Israeli claims of conquest let alone this myth of a ‘god-given’ right. The best we can gather is that the Hebrews (who invented a new religion and the mythology of the Israelites) were just the descendants of the Canaanites.
5. Kudos, Mr. Dann. Excellent analysis!
flyingdoc57 ,   Florida, U.S.A.   (03.30.10)
6. how else can you make sense of his actions?
obama obsessed ,   to destroy usa & us   (03.30.10)
treats america's allies with contempt and treats america's enemies with utmost respect. all the while throwing money that is not his into an abyss which it will be gone in forever so america will never recover financially . yes you are right he does act just like the pharaoh of our exodus that couldn't stop himself and the usa is becoming just like pharaohs advisers told him - do you not realize that egypt is destroyed ?
7. #4 Matti Groves
Mickey ,   Sydney Australia   (03.30.10)
..and where is your evidence Matti?
8. It is hardly for Barakah Hussein Obama, a follower of
Gabe ,   West Palm Beach, FL   (03.30.10)
Rev. Wright and a long-time close friend of Min. Farakhan to tell us, Jews, the meaning of Pessah!!! Doing so is nothing short of a form of arrogance. And arrogance is exactly what the inexperienced President of the U.S. exhibits when he dares tell us, Jews, who best to protect our state and our people. And to whom does he do it? To President Shim'on Peres, to Defense Minister Ehud Barak and to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanjahu. I have lost all respect for this man, and I sense this is the feeling among an increasing number of American Jews.
9. Hashiveinu, Cause us to return....
The 11th Man ,   London   (03.30.10)
..and we shall return. You are right, Mr Dann, G-d cntinues to be faithful to the Jewish People and He has His ways of drawing them to Himself. One of your own great thinkers said: We know that all things work together for good to them that love God. Pharoah & Obama are creatures of a day.
10. :: Mickey - #7
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (03.30.10)
<..and where is your evidence Matti?> You are asking what ‘evidence’ do I have in relation to the fact that there is ‘no archaeological evidence’ produced by Israelis or anyone else to back up the myth of the Exodus? This is like me saying “there is no pot of gold at the end of a rainbow as per folklore” and you turning around and saying “prove that there is no pot of gold”!! But hey lets take a look: According to scripture 600,000 Hebrew men of fighting age left Egypt with their wives/children/livestock/etc and ventured into the Sinai desert with ‘Moses’. This means that (according to scripture) 1 man + 1 wife + 2 children X 600,000 = 2.4 million people lived in the Sinai desert for decades. Mickey where is the archaeological evidence that the Sinai supported these millions of people during the alleged time period when the Exodus was meant to have happened? In truth there is NO archaeological evidence to support this claim in scripture. I challenge you or anyone else to provide any archaeological evidence for this alleged ‘Exodus’.
11. the alliance of bigots
michael ,   sao paulo   (03.30.10)
The alliance of the American Christian right with the religious fanatics in Israel is taking the country to the road of isolation and constant warfare. It is sad, for we expected Israel to be a lighthouse of justice and democracy to Jews and people around the world
12. Our strength comes from within. Not by begging for approval.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.30.10)
It can't escape our notice that the more Israel begs for foreign approval, the more Israel is demonized. There is nothing puzzling about this. It's human nature to like and respect the strong while despising the weak. Until the Oslo Disaster, Israeli leaders worried little about international opinion. Golda Meir didn't worry about the UN or EU when she declared, "Whoever attacks Israel shouldn't be surprised when Israel strikes back seven times as hard". Nor did Israel worry about the UN when we preemptively destroyed the Arab armies in 1967, libereated our captives in Entebbe or destroyed Iraq's nuclear bomb factory. Israel must abandon the sick policy of appeasement forever. Strength comes from within. Not by pathetically begging for approval, as Israel's left constantly does.
13. Obama
Marc ,   Miami, USA   (03.30.10)
The article makes a point but it is misplaced. It is true that Obama seems to have no special feeling for Israel or the Jews, as his predecessor did. However, he is no Pharoah. We have the President of Iran to fill that role. As to the comment about Jewish mythology, all organized religions rely on mythology, whether the subject matter is Moses, Jesus or Muhammed. It is that mythology that gives a people their hope, their guidance and ultimately their faith.
14. Matty Groves
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (03.30.10)
by your logic there is also no evidence that Mohammed ascended to heaven from Jerusalem. problem solved ! Jerusalem is not a holy city for the muslims.
15. Israel holds the key to its destiny
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.30.10)
Hussein Obama is only a Muslim with a big mouth and he is on his way down, Israel will laugh at his demise. In fact Israel can promote his downfall by attacking Irans nuclear installations preemptively, an action that would put this Muslim between a rock and a hard place...Israel holds the key to its destiny - it has choosen the Passover in ancient times and it has succeded and it must attack Iran now and it will succeed ...
16. Should we look for new alliances?
Ron B. ,   Lod   (03.30.10)
Alliances with China, India and Russia would arguably be just as advantageous, if not more so, to Israel's strategic needs as its alliance with America. (Incidentally, the very possibility of Israeli cooperation with countries like China and Russia would worry America sufficiently enough to cause it to think twice before cutting its ties with Israel.) To be sure, China and Russia are not the "nicest" or most enlightened countries, but allies needn't be best friends; history records more than one instance where strange bedfellows found common cause. Are the USA still our allies? Consult : http://xrl.us/bewv97
17. :: Serge - #14
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (03.30.10)
Exactly! Now you are getting it. Mohammed no more ascended to heaven from Jerusalem than Moses parted the Red Sea. Such nonsense can never be proven. Again you are correct: Jerusalem is the holy city to Muslims, Jews and Christians - no one religion has an monopoly on Jerusalem.
18. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.30.10)
Did you think laughter and rejoicing was the appropriate response to the events of September 11? Did you think that the whole world did not see the sheer outpouring of joy that day from Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza? Much the way it is inappropriate to celebrate suicide bombings by distributing sweets -- but Palestinians do that, too, don't they? No, Salma, given the foregoing facts, I do not believe that you know whether to laugh or cry.
19. #1 Tony and to all Obamabots!
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (03.30.10)
Care to remember that your Kenyan Messiah, Obama is supported by only half of America and the Marxist Jews. The other half's resentment toward this uppity pharaoh knock-off is just as much legitimate expression as your inane shilling for him. Your arrogant pontification as to what we, anti-Obama citizens permitted or prohibited to do is nonsensical. Are you Aaron the High Priest or Yagoda, Stalin's henchman?
20. #1 Today Obama is resoundingly rejected.
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.30.10)
#1 Tony. Obama got about 52% of the vote against a very weak Republican challenger. That is hardly a "resounding" victory. What is truly resounding is America's rejection of Obama today. Obama fails to win even the most heavily Democrat states such as New Jersey and, incredibly, Massachusetts. Obamacare is rejected by a staggering 67% of Americans and 60% feel he is leading America in the wrong direction. Only 33 % feel Obama is going in the right direction. Dann is absolutely correct in his analysis of Obama even if Obama was popular in the U.S. Which he clearly is NOT.
21. Cut the BS, do and talk less
Trevor ,   NZ   (03.30.10)
Building are rising in every city in the world. I have never seen a news item on New Zealand Television announcing the bulilding of 200 units. This is published in a local gazette as part of a resource consent application. In Israel the actual application for building a toilet block is submitted first to Ynet, Maariv, Haaretz, channel 1, 2, 10 before it's sent to the city council. Why every single building application within Jerusalem has to be published worldwide if not purely for provocation? Obama is no Pharoah and the American people don't have a problem with Jews. They do however have a problem with not keeping our mouth shut.
22. Amen to that!
Yossi ,   Haifa, Israel   (03.30.10)
23. God's hands?! NO WAY
David ,   Jerusalem   (03.30.10)
Don't be ridiculous. If you don't like Obama because he articulated to Israel what every previous US administration has asked for, for the last 40 years!!!!! Just say so! Dann, you don't like black people with Muslim names telling arrogant settlers to be peaceful. To make up all this God and Pharaoh stuff is a waste of time. Are you serious? EZE ME'ATZ BEN!! Israel's existence is determined by the IDF, the ECONOMY and it's cultural and scientific achievements - ALL SECULAR THINGS. Israel is SECULAR, if you look at our health system, tax, state support, you'll see it is almost SOCIALIST!!! These are the things that we must support and protect, for Israel. Dann, and all your crazy shtetl-bots from the US, are sanctimonious shakranim. What is most insulting, is you make people believe you are a patriot of Israel, when you're just a religious fanatic that would rather read the bible all day than do something worthwhile for Israeli society. !
24. Mass Exodus of millions versus 1 Mohammed's hallucination
Jae ,   Lynn US   (03.30.10)
You figure which is more valid. Jews' would never buy the mass Exodus of our if it didnt really happen. You can fool a few individuals maybe, but not an entire people witnessing the Exodus and Mt.Sinai. One person, like mohammed, on the other hand- THAT you can readily disbelieve, especially when he takes 8 yr olds as wives, and commits adultery with women whose husbands he beheads. Matti, as long as you fight the Jewish people with your alliance against the Jewish people, you are cursed. "I will bless those that bless you, and curse those that curse you"
25. It's Policy not Personality
Don ,   Michigan, USA   (03.30.10)
I'm not happy with the Obama administration dealings with Israel, but I don't make Obama into a Pharoah. It's a policy that we don't like and that it what should be focused on. Personalizing it. especially with wild charges, closes minds, where a policy is open for discussion. One more thing: as a Jew, as an American and as a Zionist. Suggesting that Obama is somehow obsessed with hating Jews and that God will bring down the United States not only seems delusional and a little sick, it would be a terrible blow to the free world and the Jewish and Israeli future.
26. plagues
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.30.10)
To date, Obama has only one plague to deal with, and that is AIPAC...and the antidote to that is the up and coming J-Street
27. IT APPEARS THAT MOST OF THE TALKBACKS
SETTHERECORDSTRAIGHT   (03.31.10)
WERE WRITTEN DURING THE CHAG, WHEN JEWS WHO HAVE THE SENSE TO BE OFFLINE WERE ACTUALLY OBSERVING IT. ALL THE OTHER APOLOGISTS WERE BUSYING THEMSELVES WITH BEING THEIR VERSION OF A 'LIGHT AMONG NATIONS' = LIKEABLE TO ALL THE GOYIM WHO WANT TO DESTROY US. MOSHE DANN SAID IT BEAUTIFULLY AND HE SHOULD BE LAUDED FOR HIS WORDS. KOL HA KAVOD, MR. DANN.
28. In the interest of not offending you, let us say instead
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.31.10)
that Obama, not God, will bring down the United States. In case you have not noticed, it is already in progress. Leave him in the White House and he will make you eat the bread the devil kneads.
29. Israel must ween itself from the USA
gary ,   Philadelphia, PA   (03.31.10)
Although Moshe States "Obama's hard-heartedness towards Israel and the Jewish People is now obvious to all"...it is not so obvious to all...many in America think Obama is not being tough enough! And therein lies the point, look at Obma's actions as a reflection of US popular opinion....which is even more troubling. CHINA, CHINA CHINA is Israel's future both economically and politically.
30. # 27
Birdi ,   Israel   (03.31.10)
It appears that you are confusing Passover with Yom Kippur when we are not allowed to write or type on our computers.
