I find this constant squawk on YNET for Israelis to seek out another patron absolutely fascinating. All sorts of psychological dimensions of fear & hope wrapped up in it. Ultimately though, it all amounts to an empty exercise in futile Escapism. No other country on the planet is prepared to play ally or patron with Israel. This will not change. The US is all there is in terms of friends & alliances. We cannot be replaced.

In case you missed it support for Israel in the US is declining at rapid pace and has been for many years. Most Americans are not strong supporters of Israel no matter their religious background. It ranks waaaaaaaaaaaay at the bottom of what Americans care/worry about in every pole in every outlet. While many Americans count Israel as a friend we have stronger and more productive alliances with others like the UK and France. You need us we don't need you. The idea that China or Russia would support you like the US is fantasy. I am talking la la land here. I am proud American and proud Obama supporter and suggest you take look at your guy over there. He is putting the future of your country at risk.

The human population is dwelling on the Titanic. It is of our own making. We have overshot our resource base as mammals typically do; which is usually followed by a massive die-off. The Israel/Palestine dispute is just one example of people killing each other for the remaining crumbs from a banquet that is coming to an end. Our ethnicities, nationalities, & religions are no more relevant to our real problems, than the type of antlers on deer, that have over-grazed their food supply. Certainly these are the last types of things we should be pre-occupied with, as we face future starvation, with the low-hanging petro-energy "fruit" & connected food supply" having been pretty well picked clean. The human race needs to make an "exodus" from excessive reproduction and consumption. There aint no messiahs (either first coming or second coming) that are going to rescue anyone!

Who needs another patron? For that matter, does Israel need a patron? There is an alarmingly growing group of countries that are acquiring nuclear technology -- and weapons-making technology. The group of countries that can actually DELIVER such a weapon is quite small. The United States. Russia. China. France. Israel. Got that? Israel doesn't need a patron.
