1. Funnily enough
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.02.10)
... the world does not seem to be encouraging "talks" between North Korea and South Korea. Neither is the world encouraging "talks" between the various warring factions in the Congo. Nor is the world encouraging "talks" between Islamic Sudan and the Christian and animist minorities presently being slaughtered. The world is not encouraging "talks" between the Polisario and Morocco. The world is not encouraging "talks" between the Moslem insurgents in Chechen and Russia. No, the United States and the rest of the world is hell-bent on forcing Israel to "negotiate" with people bent on the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jews. Six failed wars, three rejected opportunities for a two-state solution, sixty-plus years of unrelenting terrorism on a global scale, and the world thinks that it can impose its will upon Israel. Not going to happen. The Palestinians have had far too many bites at the apple already. The Europeans in particular have actually treated Palestinian terrorist scum like international heads of state and diplomats. You can do it at your expense, but not at the expense of the State of Israel. What the international community of nations needs to do is point out to the Palestinians that Israel did, after all, emerge victorious in all six wars. That does count for something. A very good starting point for the Palestinians if they really want to show their interest in good-faith negotiations with Israel would be for each of the thirty-odd organizations (each purporting to be the true and sole representative of the Palestinian people) to repudiate their charters (each of which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people) and to recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland. Thus far, not a single Palestinian organization has availed itself of this opportunity to win Israel's trust. Unless and until they do, the Palestinians can continue to languish in the economically-bereft and completely corrupt Palestine Authority, and they can remain in their squalid refugee camps. Six times victorious, Israel really does get to call the shots. Not some terrorist rabble, which is -- when all is said and done -- all that the Palestinians really are. Israel is not going to "negotiate" itself out of existence. The world cannot bring pressure upon Israel to do that. We are, after all, graduates of Auschwitz et al. and dhimmi status in the Arab and Moslem world. We know better than to trust anyone but ourselves.

3. The State Dept continues to spout its everlasting nonsense
Ruri   (04.02.10)
Same under Bush - the only solution IS military, OR expel the Arabs. Either destroy the enemy or expel them, but stop pretending there are negotiations, it's just a lie, no matter how many leftie journos keep repeating it day after day in their leftie newspapers.
4. They said there was "no military solution" to intifada too
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.02.10)
I recall how many insisted back in 2002, as bombs were going off almost daily, that there was "no military solution" to that one either. Then the IDF went in after the Park Hotel bombing and subsequently began fencing off much of the eastern territories. Things are a lot quieter now. Guess there was a military solution after all. The US obviously concluded there IS a military solution in Iraq and Afghanistan. Guess things are judged differently when Jews are under attack.
5. Escalation
Jack ,   LA, USA   (04.02.10)
US Administration presses both Israel and the Palestinian Authority to embark on proximity talks? When ans how was the US Administration pressing the Palestinians? By giving them money? What a crock.

20. Wow, what a joke !
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (04.03.10)
If a peaceful solution is the solution what in the World is the US is fabricating in Afghanistan and Irak. It is always easy to tell the Jews to pay the price. No 100% No. Israel is surounded with Muslim terrorist and Obama is not interested to save the situation. He is only interested in his position.
21. Can you do me a Favor ...MR Natanyahu
US Pal ,   OHIO   (04.03.10)
we have seen the palestinian peace plan ,the Arabs ,the American ...ETC . can MR Natanyahu draw a peace plan for us Palestinians . if he can't ...can he just draw future israel Borders . that way each party knows what is up ..
22. There is ONLY a military solution !!!
flyingdoc57 ,   Florida, U.S.A.   (04.03.10)
There is NEVER a diplomatic solution to terrorism. There is NEVER a "peaceful" solution when your adversary's only interest/goal is your elimination. There was no non-military solution to nazism, and there is no non-military solution to Islamism. Period. End of discussion. Why is the U.S. in Iraq and Afghanistan? Why couldn't we just engage Sadam Hussein, Al-Queda and the Taliban in diplomacy? You mean there was "no military solution"??? Oh, I forgot. That's only so when Israel is involved. Got it.
23. no solution
alexi   (04.03.10)
Okay so no solution. Since 48, jews have lived no solution and managed. maybe as shamir said, we will have to live 1000 years with no solution. Peace talks with abbas won't work because hamas is not part of it and wants israel out and even wants jordan out for greater islamic republic of palestine. What kalidi did not tell obama during their intimate weekly dinners is that the land originally belong to israelis for 1500 years. Yes there were more arabs than jews in 46 but there was no country ofpalestine and lots arabs came up to get j obs from jews. As well the pacifist millibrand types restricted imigratioin to israel based on balfour. So obama got the wrong story. regardless, he was educated as a moslem and his allegiance is to indonesian and moslems. He has no allegiance to israel other than to cover himself as opponents tell him to piss off(turkey, russia, china, indian, england). No peace can come from appeasement and just like carter, baker, brzezinki who failed miserably in iran, even clinton, olmert, barak proved categorically. The only arrangement that has stood is the 33 year peace with egypt as Mubarak has proved to be a realist and deserves marks. obama has no trust among israelis except the haaretz appeasers who you know, ginsberg, olmert, livni., ramon, oz, haber, dekel. the forum of seven will help bibi with his nerves and tell Obama No to concessions in east jerusalem, no to prisoner release while shalit rots and no more removal of roadblocks. its also time that barak was replaced by yaalon and peled as we have had enough of him already and he is not needed anymore.
24. Ban is right: Arabs occupied east Jlm.
Vardina   (04.03.10)
Gaza has to be dealt differently from airstrikes? How, exactly? Only by a new total invasion, to put an end to Hamas in Gaza.
25. Obama should be spending his time calling on other
Harry Wright ,   UK   (04.03.10)
friendly governments to condemn the rocket attacks on Israel. Why are they not saying anything about the aggressors. Russia, mark you - not Sarcozy nor Merkel - condemned the attacks...so how come Israel's goodly friend Obama cannot do that? Does he really think the Arabs want peace? Or is he telling them and Israel that dialogue is the best thing for them so he can get their attendance at the proximity talks that he, King Obama, is organising.
26. Time for Bibi to tell Obama that he sees no signs of Abbas
Harry Wright ,   UK   (04.03.10)
wanting peace so proximity talks are pointless at this stage and will be detrimental to Israel which will be required to give and give and get nothing in return; that unless and until Abbas makes some concessions to build Israeli confidence, Israel cannot in all conscience attend since it has already made several concessions and is NOT prepared to make any more in this one-sided charade and where there is nothing of substance in the horizon, only thin air; as much as Israel is willing to negotiate for peace, there just is no genuine peace partner. Bibi should tell Obama that he will be always available and Obama can call him whenever Abbas shows proof that he wants peace.
27. UK, France 'concerned'
Joe Not Sixpack ,   Red Neck Riviera FL   (04.03.10)
They should be concerned with the first kasam falling on Israel not when there is a response by the Israelis. As far as " No military solution to conflict" of course this is not a solution just a reply to an unmitigated terrorist aggresion on civilian population.
28. Sarah B - Catching up on Korea
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (04.03.10)
North & South Korea have been in talks since the "end" of the Korean conflict, first with Kim, then Lil Kim. Israel has been trying the military solution to the Palestinian issue for 42 years. It hasn't worked yet, has it? What's your military solution? How will you make it work? Jericho 1400 BCE?
29. Direct as always, Sarah
Cameron ,   USA   (04.03.10)
"The Palestinians have had far too many bites at the apple already." Liked that bit of wording.
30. USA invades two muslim countires; says Military no solution
Russel ,   Tlv   (04.03.10)
The past decade saw the USA invade and occupy two sovereign states with UN-recognised borders to steal their gas and oil deposits. And it has the cheek to tell Israel "No military solution to conflict". Fact: the world's largest arms dealer - the USA - controls 63% of the worlds arms deals
