62. Only CIVIL WAR between left & right will settle it!
&the left will lose!   (04.12.10)
63. Biblical Zionism is Right
Uriel ,   Australia   (04.12.10)
Biblical Zionism is Right, when Left Wingers Like Adolf Hitler, who also quoted in Mein Khamf that he was Anti-Zionism which Led to Jews, plus others being Murdered in World War 2, so if you wish to be like Hitler the Haman & Pharoah of the 20th century, just remember what happend to them in scripture, as Pharoah an his army was cast into the so will Anti-Zionism, and its offshoots be cast into the sea
64. feodalism in Israel
a poor settler   (04.12.10)
Aloni knows something about racism, she lives in kfar shmaryahu, a settlement of ashkenazim only and where her son is the major and every son of the settler is settled with 1.5 hectars of land just because he is the son of one of the settlers. Her concern is first hand and comes from knowledge.
65. The full rights of the left
Anny Matar ,   Ramat-Hen / I srael   (04.12.10)
If you ask anyone on the left whether Israel is a democracy they answer with a loud NO. Democracy can ONLY be left. Let me tell all the leftist activists in this country that they are THE MOST DAMAGING PEOPLE. They are what the Germans call "Nest Beschmuzer" (they soil their own nest). Were it only within the country - demonstrating against the Sate with the Arabs , (who have yet to prove they're worthy of it) they support the boycots against us at Universities, student demonstrations and whatever dirt is thrown against their own homeland. I am a holocoust survivor and I can tell those who forget that we HAVE RETURNED, NOT OCCUPIED THIS LAND. As soon as the left will accept this fact they might even become citizens of this country and become proud of being an Israeli. Your lot has a lot to be greatful for and you have all the freedom of ideology, speech and media. If you have something to say say it here but don't feed our enemies. I am against the religious extremism as well but, just as you demand your right to besmirch Israel give them the right to fight for what they believe, they, at least, do it at home for Israel, what you do is damaging our image worldwide. WE DON'T NEED MORE ENEMIES, the ones we have are enough, thank you.
66. # 57 - Well Said
nathan ,   Israel/USA   (04.12.10)
Democracy is the Rule of the Majority - Israel is a democracy (or at least founded on democratic principle) This means that if the Majority does not accept your Ideology then the majority has the right to reject said ideology. To call said rejection undemocratic is to place yourself in the realm of a wannabe dictatorship where you would force your ideas on others. If the government decided to Ban this book then you would have a case for unjust censorship (unless the text was truly Incitement, which it may be).
67. Note the left had posters removed by threatening vandalism
Ilan ,   Ariel   (04.12.10)
Should a bookstore distribute it? Clearly there is no profit in it so it is more of a political than business decision. Turning things around we all know how the left reacts because they just used threats of extreme violence to remove a poster campaign paid for by a rightwing organization. Kam isn't about freedom of speech, and this is not about freedom of speech either. It is about how the Left views freedom of speech (which is to say they get to say/do as they wish and others don't).
68. Free speech and literature is tuff
Talula ,   Israel   (04.12.10)
But it's what separates us from Iran. I definitely won't be shopping in a bookstore, whose paper books have more spine than the owners.
69. Freedom of speech? In Israel?
Bob ,   Mechburg USA   (04.12.10)
A few bucks instead of being morally honest- Yeah, that's a good move. A bookstore for all, make that some of the people, all, er... make that some of the time, as long as the money keeps rolling in. If all sides are not heard the decision will be flawed and that will cost everyone more than if honesty would be allowed and everyone has their own say. If the informatuion in the book is wrong, sue the guy, otherwise, let freedom speak loudly. Its not a tuba, you don't have to listen and you can make your own case. Freedom of the press is only a good policy if that freedom extends to publishing as well as printing and reading and making-up one's own mind. If the concept is strong enough to carry its own weight, maybe it has something about it that needs to be investigated and maybe fixed.
70. Books
nathan ,   Israel/USA   (04.12.10)
For all of you who object to this on "Moral Grounds" please consider a few things. Censorship and Banning of books happens all the time in FREE COUNTRIES, like the United states, Australia etc.. For instance in Queensland Australia it is ACTUALLY ILLEGAL to sell the book American Psycho. So if a bookstore in Israel decides, for whatever reason, not to sell a specific book and everyone jumps up and "fascists" and "how dare they", all I have to say is WOW you really are fanatics
71. #69 - that's why there are libraries
William ,   Israel   (04.12.10)
Why should this Israeli bookstore be held to different standards than your own Barnes & Nobel or Amazon?? Unless you're a liberal who demands that free business be terminated to aid the people and equality shall be determined by your govt.
72. The New Israeli Left
daniel gavron ,   jerusalem israel   (04.13.10)
My main criticism is that there should have been a third author along with Yaniv and Hasfari--an Israeli Arab (or Palestinian Israeli.) The new Israeli national left has to be a joint Jewish-Arab venture. I think most Israeli Arabs would sign off on what they wrote about their community--but maybe not on Arafat (which was in any case intemperate and unnecessary.)
73. Burn the Books.
Justin ,   Dublin   (04.14.10)
Why doesn't the israeli government just gather all those books into a big pile a burn them?
74. shmuel hasfari
levy ,   key west u s   (04.15.10)
i will buy hasfari's book one copy for me and copies for my friends and boycot the tzomet sfarim chain ... when the nazis were ruling over europe some books were banned, burnt heine's books were burnt . now iran ,and many totalitarian countries ban books. i bet that most of those who reacted did not read the book . i will read it and say what i think ...later ..
