1. PLO gave up Judea, Samaria and Gaza in 1964
Mark Bernadiner ,   Pearland, TX   (05.06.10)
Article 24 of the 1964 PLO charter addressed to UN stipulates: "Palestinian muslims do not claim Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and Gaza their territories."
2. It's reasonable...
T ,   London   (05.06.10)
I say... Israel should get back the 77% of the land given away by the British! And the issue of Jews kicked out of Arab lands and their need for compensation must become part of the Mantra given to the biased media. This in time will penetrate the psychi of the average Joe and average Mohammed. (Is that Blasphemy? - Oh well).
3. wow, i dont understand this logic
Bill Krabi ,   USA   (05.06.10)
How the facts are twisted to make the guily look like the victim. When the fact is very simple, one came took over and took over and kicked the other out. And still doing that untill now days in East Jerosalim and other areas. who do you think you are fooling ?
4. what a ...
Y.G. ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
.. superb article. Will it change the minds of those who dream of seeing Israel pushed into the sea? No. 'for in every generation, they rise up to destroy us..' Am Israel 'hai !
5. Is it fair of Eng-land to promise a land didn't even own?
Palestinian   (05.06.10)
6. to #1 since when PLO respect any agreement
ghostq   (05.06.10)
the fact that their own people kill each other for power and controll just prove there is no honor among criminals.
7. Palestinians were active combatants and not victims
ariel New Zealand   (05.06.10)
Even before their Mufti met Hittler to expand the Final Solution of the jewish problem to mandatory palestine the Arabs living in the Land of israel were producing armed attacks on the jewish civilian population in regular bases and when the war broke they participated as the famous Hussein gangs in the war; Don't portrait this arabs as passive, because their missery is actually the result of their own greediness. Jews bought their land with gold coins colected by the jewish people all arround the worls, while the arab population received it for free from the Otoman turkish ruler in order to counterbalance the western influence of the jews. Don't buy the Arab Mithology of martirdom, because its a blunt lie.
8. Facts are Irrelevant to World Opinion
Dallas ,   Canada   (05.06.10)
The Arab/Muslim narrative is the one accepted worldwide. I try to engage people in conversations about this but their ears, eyes and minds are closed. Very frustrating. It's especially disturbing because it's like a Lord of the Flies frenzy how the Big Lie is thrown around with such hatred. It's important to stay on focus and recognize the main tactic used by irrational anti-Israel loudmouths - deflection. Deflection gets you on the defensive about another issue and clouds any otherwise productive conversation. To get actual facts to be acknowledged is met with silence and then more deflection, coupled with libelous accusations and generalities, rarely are any facts used as a rebuttal by them. Notice these things as you attempt to discuss. Unfortunately wars happen because of spin and propaganda.
9. I like wingnut articles like this...
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (05.06.10)
It really shows that Israel's press is losing all credibility. This author presents a list of the most wingnutty claims ever, that have been debunked time and again for many years, and some how this is supposed to advance Israel's place in the world how exactly? How did this crap of an article ever make it past the editorial board here at Ynet? Sure it is "opinion" - but falsifying history? That's part of the editorial opinion scholarship here at Ynet?
10. well said!!! This article should be sitting on the desk of
(05.06.10)
every diplomat, prime minister and US president. Only when we correct all the lies that have been passed on like a contagous desease can we finally find a cure!
11. Britain had a horrible history withJews:
Ron B. ,   Lod   (05.06.10)
The first recorded ritual murder charge in medieval Europe took place in England in 1144; there was the York massacre of the city’s Jews in 1190; the expulsion in 1290; and political emancipation for England’s Jews arrived only in 1871, far later than in other Western European countries. In the Victorian era, “Jews, no matter how assimilated or influential, were perceived as Jews first, and often not even considered to be English, no matter how long they or their families had resided in England. The Jew was widely thought of as suspect, sinister, clever, rich and powerful, and—in the words of historian Elie Kedourie—‘an agent of reaction or revolution, pursuing hidden aims of his own, divine or demonic as the case may be.’”[1] Moreover, in the first half of the twentieth century, Zionism “seemed to many Britons—Gentile and Jew alike— a ludicrous goal that defied much historical and current thinking and, in the 1930s and beyond, conflicted with Britain’s strategic interests.” More at : http://xrl.us/beh9vn
12. Understanding the concept of “right of return.”
Ron B. ,   Lod   (05.06.10)
There is a disingenuous sleight of hand about the entire concept of “right of return.” Palestinians, the broader Arab world, and their supporters who have asserted this “right” have invoked, in particular, UN General Assembly resolution 194, passed in December, 1948, in the wake of the Arab-initiated 1947-48 war. The resolution states, among its other provisions, “refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so…” But the central provision of 194 is its call for creation of a Conciliation Commission and “establishment of contact between the parties themselves and the Commission at the earliest possible date… to seek agreement by negotiations [and thereby reach] a final settlement of all questions between them.” How did occur the “refugee problem” : http://xrl.us/bj5q6
13. Excellent article
Shalom Hartman   (05.06.10)
One of the best articles I have ever read on YNet. Keys, such as the one in the picture, can be bought for a few shekels in any arab shouk.
14. An accurate and well written article.
Paul ,   USA   (05.06.10)
Should be required reading at the opening of any UN session.
15. fair is what i feel not what you see ...end
nunu   (05.06.10)
16. this article should be a sticky
eporue ,   europe   (05.06.10)
the arab "history" is very embarrassing, but most embarrassing - they aint ashamed. their claim of east-jerusalem, in light of the points above, finally reveals their true face. im sure, very most people dont know those facts, or only very little about them. they, together with the guys like the egyptian arafat and his intifada, and todays demands, draw a very clear picture.
17. To #3-context is everything
Andi ,   Israel   (05.06.10)
And I guess in 1945 the Allies suddenly decided to invade Germany. Context, historical events , and continuing political realities are of course irrelevant according to you logic. Its a shame your assessment is so superficial and in your view "the fact is very simple", because its not.
18. To # 5 Indeed Not fair at all.
Ian ,   Ireland   (05.06.10)
19. to #17 they created the situation in the first place
ghostq   (05.06.10)
cause before the war Brits collected extra money from German citizens and major sunctions, so the allys r as guilty in that war.
20. wow
Ana   (05.06.10)
I am shocked. Why is all this history hidden? It is amazing how media and pro arab froups distort facts, hide history and try to shape world opinion. It doesn't always work. I am sending this to over 300 people none of whom are jewish.
21. #5 - England and France returned land to historical owners
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (05.06.10)
England and France liberated the land from Ottoman rule and could give it back to the historical natives to run. France gave back land to the Lebanese and Syrian people to rule again,(and in Syria's case never actually released), England gave to a small tribe of Arabs to rule over the Palestinian locals, and restored the Jewish people to their homeland. So yes it makes sense.
22. Who is being unfair
JUDAH THE LION   (05.06.10)
I Would like the president OBAMA to read this article
23. Good Article. Keep Telling ..
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.06.10)
It would be a good idea to have this history repeated every month or so. Some people, in the US, only believe what they see in the media = "BAD Israel oppressing the Palestinians". When the truth of what happened, starting with Balfour, is spelled out many people respond as if they are hearing about it for the very first time - because they are hearing about it for the first time. There is a propaganda war that's been going on for decades. The propaganda depicts Israel in a very bad way. The propaganda must be countered with the truth -- repeated as often as the propaganda is. Perhaps something like purchasing a full-page ad in the New York Times and using the space to 'remind' people of this history?
24. The world isn't fair
peter ,   amsterdam NL   (05.06.10)
And I think Dan Calic knew that very well before he wrote this litany. Grow up.
25. 9 , 34 will keep whiningabout the unfairness of israel
anoynmous ,   bat-yam   (05.06.10)
and probably papilate now with their brain in an infinite goto loop. it's time to say what is ours again and again. they will get used to it. when obama goes down your egos will suddenly shrink.
26. to #21 not really considerying the folkland
ghostq   (05.06.10)
islands suppose to be argentina terirory and you still controll them, and you wrong about the arab tribes rulling, cause in the 30's the arabs used to snifer the british troops that is y you went to anchor mission, they had to put sand bag in the street of jaffa basically 3/4 of jaffa arabs got killed, the rest fled to gaza of today.
27. UNFAIR WORLD
TAHRIR QUDS ALYAHUDI   (05.06.10)
The world will never be fair towards Israel and the Jews. Whatever Israel do always wrongly. One day Israel and the Jews will get justice from their enemies. AM ISRAEL HAI
28. # 27
Palestinian   (05.06.10)
Well, if you got all the means and the time to tell your story and you couldn't convince the people, then there is either "logical gap", between you and the rest of the world (maybe you're smarter), or your theory is wrong. According to you (Israelis), if someone didn't believe your version, then there is something wrong with them, they're either stupid, prejudicial, or anti-Semitic. Think again why people (mainly educated) cannot agree with your story. It's in front of you but you don't want to see it. The author mentioned the jews fled from Arab countries after 1948. you only see it as displacing/dispossession of the jews, but you didn't think how those jews were living peacefully in those areas without problems for hundreds of years while the jews were murdered elsewhere. Only when you came to displace the Palestinians the problems started, not because you're jews....it's in front of you, but you don't want to believe it.
29. Is it fair the
TAHRIR QUDS ALYAHUDI   (05.06.10)
British brought the kingdom from Saudi Arabia and gave Jordan to the arabs in gold plate
30. the arabs cant explain, why all UN-/british borders are
eporue ,   europe   (05.06.10)
accepted (jordan, egypt, syria) but not israels one. the article describes the saudi objected only israel. the rest was ok and is still recognized. apart from the occupied territory, there is nothing wrong with israels existence. its as legal, as the others. alone from this is clear, for the arabs its about RACISM. and that the west bank and gaza are/was occupied to blame on the jews is just ridiculous. it happened because of the arab wars ! that the west bank and gaza are still occupied, is to blame on egypt and jordan. they rejected any responsibility for you, the "palestinians". when now the negotiations fail, because bibis strategy of evasion works, then the occupation and all related side effects are to blame onto israel. and it will: by the whole world !
