R ,   Israel   (05.08.10)
After subscribing to Nat'l Geo for over a decade, I recently cancelled my subscription, due to the one-sided nature of their articles about Israel. I figured that if they are taking a political stand and presenting one-sided "facts" concerning Israel, they may be doing the same with other articles, and I can no longer trust what I read there.

44. The truth hurts
Just a jew ,   amsterdam   (05.08.10)
Of course Israel has used her dominant position in the region and the occupation (or 'management' if that makes you feel better) of the West Bank and previously in Gaza to satisfy her water needs in a most disproportionate way to what the Palestinians get. This is such a well known fact that I can't believe that Israel can find the nerve and the gaul to claim, "the opposite is true." Hahahaa! But this is what we come to expect from Israel these days. Sad.

Resistor   (05.08.10)
When the truth puts Israel or jews in a bad light, then idiots like you automatically go into overdrive, proclaiming it as lies, and some sought of conspiracy. Thankfully, there are some mature tbers here, that label it for what is is-the truth. Even if it hurts Rafi..........
50. New kind of war
Frank ,   Canada   (05.08.10)
They cannot destroy Israel with weapons or international diplomacy so they try to steal her water.
51. bad headline!!!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.08.10)
it should read: "national geographic show spreads anti-Israeli lies", rather than helping to repeat the very same slanders.
52. What should we expect?

53. Hinda SF bay area
Dan ,   london   (05.08.10)
Hi Hinda - How right you are. I read the article Exodus of Christians in the Holy Land some months ago in the NG and was shocked at how biased the report. It even has a certian nostalgia for early Christian practices of chaining the mentally ill to rocks. There was another article recently on Assad's Syria in the NG which depicts him as a visionary leader, state bulider and peace maker! The national geographic has made a firm alliance with militant islam much like the BBC, Trade Unions and other leftisit leaning organisation. Very sad state of affairs.
54. It's called stewardship
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.08.10)
Israel has fresh water sources. Israel also has an extremely sophisticated system of catchment of rainfall. Israel has desalinization plants. The reason there is no drought in Israel is because Israel implements very sound water policies. Their Arab neighbors do not. Arabs are not the sons of the desert, they are the fathers. They allow their goats and sheep to close crop, and then move on to different fields. They do nothing to replant, retill or otherwise refurbish the exhausted soil -- they shrug their shoulders and move on. Arabs seem to have a fondness for barren, infertile and bereft land. How very Bedouin -- and quintessentially nomadic -- of them. By the way -- the Kinneret has ALWAYS been exclusively Israel's. Israel shares the same climate as the Palestine Authority, Gaza, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. Contemplate the likelihood that Israel is doing it the right way, and their neighbors are not. Israel has reforested major portions of the country, which in turn creates photosynthesis, which in turns oxygenizes the air and creates humidity and rain. Israel has a sophisticated system of irrigation which uses remineralized desalinized water. I realize there are those of you who prefer to castigate Israel -- any opportunity will do -- but the facts with respect to fresh water argue powerfully against you. If you want to know who is responsible for hogging all the fresh water resources, check with Turkey. For starters, you might ask them why the Tigris and Euphrates are reduced to mere trickles by the time they reach Iraq.
55. To just a jew???? from Amsterdam...
EST ,   Miami USA   (05.08.10)
Obviously, you have never been to the region. Obviously, you are full of anti-semitic feelings. Obviously, you are a Jew-hater and would have made your very non-Jewish ancestors proud. Sad but very true how hate-mongers spread their evilness. Not that I'm worried about how it will all end, just sad that people like you can fuel hatred and actions that endanger innocent people by supporting terrorism and the fight for supremacy of one so called religion, Islam, which in reality is an extremist political lifestyle party and a very harsh and blind one at that!
56. Sarah #54
Resistor   (05.08.10)
Israel steals water from its neighbours. The systems that you mention account for a very small part of Israel's water supplies. Without stealing water from its neighbours, Israelis would not have their full swimming pools, and green grass. Thankfully Israelis are too impatient to play golf........... Israelis use 4 times the amount of water that Palestinians use. Where do the Israelis get their water-by stealing it with impunity from their neighbours. Is this called "the right way" Sarah B? This must stop. BDS
57. "Truth" #10, 12, 22, 23, 27
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (05.08.10)
The truth may hurt, but this is not the truth. It is like complaining that American prisons restrict freedom of inmates. The Syrians bombarded Israeli kibbutzim for years; an act of war. After waiting more than any other country on this earth, Israel took the Golan. None of this "inconsequential" background is mentioned with any of these photos. My NG subscription is hereby cancelled.
58. To: No. 56
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.08.10)
I told you where and how Israel gets its water. Fresh water natural supplies, proper stewardship of the land, desalinization and catchment of natural rainfall. Try it, Resistor. It works. Israel isn't stealing anything. Israel just respects and nurtures the land more than do the Arabs. If you take care of your natural environment, it takes care of you. So the barren and bereft and drought Arab lands would be YOUR problem, not mine. There is a better way. You people just refuse to learn.
59. Sarah: The Facts
Resistor   (05.08.10)
All of what you said produces 1800MCM per year. Israeli demands are 2,000MCM per year and growing-source: The Jewish virtual library. This quote: "Israel is the cause of the water crisis for Palestinians in particular and for Arabs in general, a fact that the Jewish state refuses to acknowledge. Israel will continue with its plans to control more water resources, especially as it seeks to attract ever-greater numbers of Jewish immigrants"-Middle East Monitor. If Syria gets the Golan back, your 6 monthly sandbatticals are going to be very dry!
