32. Turkey
Elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, Texas   (06.03.10)
This accusation from Turkey may play well enough with those who are gullible, but those of us who read news and events analysis in Stratfor and from other private sources have been watching Turkish leaders plan these rifts for a long time. Turkey should watch out with the game they are planning. It will hurt Turkey in the long-run.
33. Erdogan
Daniel ,   DC   (06.03.10)
The Honourable Prime Minister Erdogan was on his way out of the PM office in Turkey. It is possible though, that with the new anti-Israel sentiment that his party will win the election again. This would be disappointing. Perhaps Israel should remind Turkey what a wonderful trading partner it is. Make Israeli made products available at a subsidized rate or in some other way boost the Turkish populace's desire for Israeli goods. It might also serve to remind Turkey it is not yet part of the EU, and its economy is still in pretty poor shape. Erdogan might be easily blamed for this. As for the flotilla deaths, all deaths are sad. Had the passengers on the ship surrendered as ordered, this loss of life could have been avoided. Paint guns do not typically kill. Pistols were only fired after the Israeli soldiers were attacked.
34. Helsinki Principles: Israel Was in the Right
Avi ,   Geneva   (06.03.10)
A perusal of The Helsinki Principles on the Law of Maritime Neutrality, a basis for international law on the subject, shows that Israel was well within its prescriptions in forcibly stopping the Gaza-bound flotilla. The relevant clauses in the Helsinki Principles read as follows: 5.1.1 Neutral ships in belligerent ports A neutral ship in a belligerent port enjoys the same protection against attacks as civilian objects in land warfare… Neutral warships in belligerent ports retain their right of self-defense. 5.1.2 Protection against attacks (3) Merchant ships flying the flag of a neutral State may be attacked if they are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search, capture or diversion. (4) Merchant ships flying the flag of a neutral State may be attacked if they (a) engage in belligerent acts on behalf of the enemy; (b) act as auxiliaries to the enemy’s armed forces; (c) are incorporated into or assist the enemy’s intelligence system; (d) sail under convoy of enemy warships or military aircraft; or (e) otherwise make an effective contribution to the enemy’s military action, e.g., by carrying military materials, and it is not feasible for the attacking forces to first place passengers and crew in a place of safety. Unless circumstances do not permit, they are to be given a warning, so that they can re-route, off-load, or take other precautions. 5.2.1 Visit and search … [B]elligerent warships have a right to visit and search vis-à-vis neutral commercial ships in order to ascertain the character and destination of their cargo. If a ship tries to evade this control or offers resistance, measures of coercion necessary to exercise this right are permissible. This includes the right to divert a ship where visit and search at the place where the ship is encountered are not practical. 5.2.10 Blockade Blockade, i.e. the interdiction of all or certain maritime traffic coming from or going to a port or coast of a belligerent, is a legitimate method of naval warfare. In order to be valid, the blockade must be declared, notified to belligerent and neutral States, effective and applied impartially to ships of all States. A blockade may not bar access to neutral ports or coasts. Neutral vessels believed on reasonable and probable grounds to be breaching a blockade may be stopped and captured. If they, after prior warning, clearly resist capture, they may be attacked. (IsraelNationalNews.com)
35. the guy has a sense of humor
izzie irgun ,   zion   (06.03.10)
lets get this straight .. the guy who put the fotilla organizers up to their nasty gambit in an attempt to establish his muslim street creed, is threatening Israel with the loss of his friendship. That is beyond laughable. Reality is tthat the turks have decided to side with iran and hamas, how they square that with NATO is beyond me. If the US had any president other than obama this would never have occurred as the world would know that it would not produce any results. But obama has opened the door to this stuff and unfortuantely Israel is left alone for another 2 years to defend jewish interests. At least Biden was man enough to speak the truth but not obama ... too bad obama couldn't care less what biden says.
36. Kurdistan exactly!

39. Terdogan should tend to home fires
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (06.03.10)
where I understand yet another Christian - a bishop - has been murdered. Yes indeed, Turkey is democracy personified! I hope the remaining Jews and Christians emigrate from this country which once was a progressive, promising nation, but now is rapidly retreating into the Islamic Dark Ages.
40. Turkey was Israel's 2nd closest ally in the world
zanjackson ,   Australia   (06.03.10)
To all the Zionist propagandists posting here in dismissive tones, you're fooling only yourselves. Israel has overstepped even its own murderous line and they will come out losers.

44. Erdogan
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (06.03.10)
As soon as you took over as prime minister, we lost Turkey as a friend.
45. Erdoğan you are commiting a bad mistake.
concerned citizen ,   Germany   (06.03.10)
46. Yet more erdogan rhetoric!!
dan Guralnek ,   brisbane australia   (06.03.10)
It appears erdogan is trying to whip the world up into a thoughtless bloodthirsty israel hating frenzy. Erdogan is nothing more than a gutless demogogue, he keeps talking vaguely of repercusions for israel, "can't turn a blind eye" "can't ensure prosperity and stability" If he only had guts to tell us how he would like to punnish israel the world would see him for what he really is. Come on erdo I dare you.
47. Post#13 FREE Kurdistan Flotilla
Dan Kelso   (06.03.10)
I want to go on this Kurdistan Flotilla to help the Kurds. Lets get tons of Kurds, Jews and Armenians to go on this boat to help the Kurdish people. Lets see if these hypocritical Turks will let the boat pass without being checked.
48. Jews & Christians getOut of Turkey before you're Slaughtered
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.03.10)
The Armenian Genocide was centrally planned and administered by the Turkish government against the entire Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire. It was carried out during W.W.I between the years 1915 and 1918. The Armenian people were subjected to deportation, expropriation, abduction, torture, massacre, and starvation. The great bulk of the Armenian population was forcibly removed from Armenia and Anatolia to Syria, where the vast majority was sent into the desert to die of thirst and hunger. Large numbers of Armenians were methodically massacred throughout the Ottoman Empire. Women and children were abducted and horribly abused. The entire wealth of the Armenian people was expropriated. After only a little more than a year of calm at the end of W.W.I, the atrocities were renewed between 1920 and 1923, and the remaining Armenians were subjected to further massacres and expulsions. In 1915, thirty-three years before UN Genocide Convention was adopted, the Armenian Genocide was condemned by the international community as a crime against humanity. One and a half million Armenians perished between 1915 and 1923. http://www.armenian-genocide.org/genocidefaq.html And G-D said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground." Bible, Genesis 4:10
49. Turkey will NEVER EVER join the EU...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.03.10)
The Turks will have to pay a VERY big price...for joining radical Islam...
50. Hamas charter: Kill Jews
Prof. M. Alexenberg ,   Petah Tikva, Israel   (06.03.10)
The “human rights” activists armed with clubs and knives sailed in support of “peace-loving Gazans” who elected Hamas with a charter that reads: “Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims…. Muslims will fight the Jews and kill them; I indeed wish to go to war for the sake of Allah! I will assault and kill, assault and kill, assault and kill.” The last ships that Israel Defense Forces stopped at sea the Karine-A and the Francop carried hundreds of tons of weapons from Iran aimed at murdering Israelis. IDF has the right to inspect the cargo of every ship attempting to reach those who seek to destroy Israel.
51. Erdogan
MKL ,   USA   (06.03.10)
Go Erdogan! Show the world, and especially Nato and the West your true colors. Any one that still thinks Erdogan is an ally to Israel or the West must be either blind or outright ignorant. His actions speak louder than his words. Unfortunately this backing of physical confrontation against Israel and cozying up to terrorist states is only the beginning. Israel your Islamist enemies are drawing the noose tighter around you, and some liberals seem to either be looking the other way or outright supporting them. You must stop your bickering, come together, get rid of your fear and act courageously like the lone Jewish high school student that faced down the Arab mob in LA. You will be like Lions when they attack you again.
52. #3 and #36 One step further
Chaim ,   Canada   (06.03.10)
Israel should start to openly support the Kurds with weapons...er... I mean 'humanitarian' shipments.
53. Turkish Muslim Erdogan grandstanding for other Muslims
Sam ,   Canada   (06.03.10)
Like other Muslims, Erdogan ignores Muslim provocations of Israel that are designed to provoke an aggressive Israeli response as was the case in Gaza. He just looks at the aftermath and blames Israel for any Muslim suffering. He wants to show Muslims he is identifying with their suffering. He is more ready to throw Jewish Israelis under the bus than other Muslims. Life will go on,Turkey or not.
54. Huge mistakes? Turkey will get expelled from NATO
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.03.10)
With its latest moves, Turkey has put the nails in its own coffin vis-a-vis membership in the EU. Forget it. And NATO nations can't be looking at Turkey these days with any warmth. Once Turkey gets close to being kicked out of NATO, look for a long-coming military coup to restore some semblance of rationality to Turkey's direction. The world doesn't need another country vying with Iran to be the top Islamic dog (pardon the expression). The west, of which up to now Turkey was a member, will quickly reject Turkish aggression and incitement. The big losers, of course, will be the Turks themselves.
55. t0 #49
murat ,   antalya-turkey   (06.03.10)
who to hell wants your eu?! Citizens of İsrael be careful. The facist christian western world is doing the same what they did before. They made us turks fight with our armenian neghbours. Then they made us fight with arabs as they did made you fight with them too. 56. God is Israel's best friend
Louis CHOI ,   Hong Kong   (06.03.10)
Israel, Don't feel isolated. Your God of Abraham is your real friend and has been protecting you when I reviewed your history. He is a promising God.
57. turkey doesnt have a record to be proud of
zionist forever   (06.03.10)
The Turks are playing the morral high ground with this demand the Gaza blockade ends but Turkeys record is not exactly something to be proud of. They are illegally occupying Cyprus and that occupation has created alot of refugees. They are also currently at war with the Kurds in Iraq which they started. So maybe before Erdogan starts complaining Israel killed 9 people in a military operation he should ask himself how many Kurds has his troops killed recently? Instead of calling for an end to the Gaza blockade he should end the illegal Turkish occupation of Cyprus.
58. #55, Mr. "Murat", you seem bewildered...
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.03.10)
As an old wisdom says: "think first, then speak". It's quite easy, just try it...
59. Solution
Izzet ,   Turkey   (06.03.10)
I think we need to get in with our Army to Israel, take 3/4 of their land and blocade the helps until they say we understood what we did before, please mercy ! Ottoman...
60. Turkey and the IAF
(06.03.10)
Where will the Israeli air force practice now. Israel made a foolish mistake especially at a time when they need Turkish support vis-a-vis Iran and the possible use of Turkish airspace in gaining access to Iran.
