31. All the calls for Aliya to Israel
B.A. ,   Sweden   (06.10.10)
Ridiculous! Never put all eggs in one basket. Soon Iran has The Bomb. Within seconds, they will press the red switch and it will be bye, bye for Israel. UNFORTUNATLY! But we as Jews will still be around.
32. Not sure what's going on here.
Talula ,   Israel   (06.10.10)
Are we dealing with a load of passive-aggressive cowards who didn't want the rest of the world to know that Helen Thomas is an ugly old, almost dead, Jew hater - or are we dealing with the fact that it was a Jew who got her kicked out the White House in disgrace? Afterall, a Jew hater should be honoured and not asked to resign in disgrace. Whatever it is, it's a case of ‘situation normal’ - the world is once again armed with more fodder about the Jews and what they think is a valid reason to hate us and kill us. We (Israeli Jews) have to believe in ourselves and blank out what the global population thinks about us.
33. #1 Yeah Whatever - something draws you to an Israeli website
Talula ,   Israel   (06.10.10)
Maybe you're an in the closet Jew lover.
34. #19 Who is in ninety-Why will need publicity?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (06.10.10)
In fact, Ms. Thomas said what many wants to say, do you know another journalist who dared to say that before he retired?! No one BY the way Jerusalem in Palestine, not in "Israel "
35. #1 writes thousand posts telling Jews to get out of Israel-

36. No's 10, 14
Chris Linthwaite   (06.10.10)
The rabbi is squealing that he is being threatened for releasing a tape of an 89 year old Lebanese woman . There is a Jewish State he can move to which makes the rantings of an 89 year old woman inconsequential anyway. This was blown up to fill the airwaves of the US with rubbish to prevent the reporting of an American citizen being murdered by Israeli forces in International waters. It continues to be blown up to deflect criticism of the blockade of Gaza. I am sure Ynet has had threats of death this past week from a variety of nations because of the actions of Israel. It is the nature if the Internet And how can I be a hater when I suggested he make Aliyah thereby recognising Israel as a state for Jews?
37. #31 don't worry
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.10.10)
Iran isn't able to deliver their nukes with missiles, and if they could they would be shot down. They will deliver a nuke by boat or through Sinai. No matter what, they will have one maybe two small nukes. Tel Aviv will be destroyed and there will be no more than 200,000 dead. As long as Israel holds Judea and Samaria, it won't matter. The Tel-Avivian refugees will find safe havens in the hills and the rest of the population will be ready for the following Arab attack. On the other hand, if Judea and Samaria are given to the Arabs, we have a problem.
38. clarification
Chris Linthwaite   (06.10.10)
I wanted to add that the American citizen murdered was 19-year old Furkan Dogan who was born in America but moved back to Turkey at the age of 2. Dogan's father said he was not sad that he was killed because he died a Shaheed attacking the IDF commandos.
39. Don't you know #31 ...

40. In defense of Helen Thomas
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (06.10.10)
Helen Thomas was asked by her interviewer to comment on Israel in the light of the arrests and killings of the international activists by Israel. Helen answered: "Get the hell out of Palestine", and then explained that the Palestinians were living under occupation. So at that point she clearly referred to the Palestinians in the Westbank and the Gaza Strip. Then her interviewer asked where they (Israeli Jews) should go to. She answered, that they had to go back to Poland, and to Germany, to America "and everywhere else". This can be interpreted in two ways: it applies only to the Jewish colonists in the occupied Westbank or, more widely, to Jewish Israelis inside the Green Line as well. This then is a lot more nuanced than Helen's detractors try to make out. What Helen Thomas said was anti-zionist, yes. But anti-semitic it was definitely not. Israel after all is a colonial creation by an immigrant settler movement. Political zionism is firmly based in 19th century European nationalism and colonialism. This movement came to Palestine to dispossess the indigenous Palestinian arab population. In my opinion Israel's legitimacy as a state has always depended on how it would treat the indigenous Palestinian populational. After 60 years the verdict is that Israel has failed miserably. The Palestinian people continue to live under a brutal and vindictive occupation in the Westbank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem. Israel's Palestinian population within the Green Line are second class citizens. The ugly scenes in the Knesseth earlier this week show that they are barely tolerated in an atmosphere of increasing totalitarianism. What we see in Israel is a scary process of 'Gleichschaltung'. Rather than trying to integrate itself in the Arab world (a condition for that would of course be giving justice to the Palestinian people) Israel has become an isolated ghetto, armed to the teeth and lashing out wildly, its population brainwashed by the State's propaganda. Israel is moving further away from legitimacy and most of that is of her own making. It is not a suprise that there is a segment of Jewish Israelis, who are disillusioned with what Israel has become. They have left Israel and return to countries in Europe (like the Netherlands) where they came from or try to go to the USA. The anti-Zionist movement in the Netherlands has a slogan: "Jews welcome back to Europe". Just like Helen's outcry it is a reflection of the colonial settler state Israel is. Whatever one thinks of her, Helen Thomas knows what she talks about. Her Lebanese roots will have seen to that. Imagine, in 1947 when the UN partitioned Palestine she was a 27 year old reporter, following the deliberations. In my opinion she spoke her mind bravely. The vindictive, mean and insulting reactions of the Zionists and their apologists tell more about them than about Helen. I hope that she will not be silenced but continue to speak out.

That USA citizen of Turkish origin Furkan Dogan was a student of a Turkish Madrasa called Imam Hatip School and a member of the IHH so called aid organization with ties to the Lighthouse (Deniz Feneri) aid organization that was found guilty of fraud in Germany. He was waving the Arab flags and chanting "death to Israel and Death to USA ' in IHH sponsored meetings. When his father told him not to participate in the flotilla he told his father 'Don't worry I have a US passport. They can not touch me'. For him it was only a convenience to carry a USA passport that's all.

50. #47 - Re: Lebanese Christians
lara ,   Australia   (06.10.10)
I'm half/half. My father is a Palestinian Catholic and my mother is Lebanese Maornite. To be honest, i agree with Helen Thomas. Not because of hate towards jews but because of the mess that was created surrounding Israels establishment in 1948. In 1948, my grandparents (fathers side) were forced out of Palestine taking with them, nothing. Refugees, which fled to Lebanon. They lived in poverty with little food until my uncles and father were old enough to work and re-establish themselves. Because of the large influx of refugees into lebanon, most of them obviously hostile towards Israel for the occupation, cross-boarder conflicts began to arise causing anger in the Christian communities which lead to several civil wars. The muslims wanted to fight for their land and the Christians didn't want involvement with Israel. Since 1948 in Lebanon, civilians and infrastructure have been the target of many Israeli attacks, the most recent was in 2006. For the Lebanese it feels like they have rebuilt their country from rubble every 10-15 years since the occupation and just as the finish repairing the damage Israel strikes and hinders their economy. The issue is not with the jews who lived in the region for many generations but rather, with the jews who began migration from europe in the thousands since the early 1900s. Many lebanese people share this view, some more strongly than others of course. I guess all they want is peace and based on the history of the past century, it has been proved that peace cannot be sustained or achieved with Israel in it.
51. A true Christian would never tell Jews...
Brother Joe ,   Bay Parkway   (06.10.10)
to leave the Promised Land. After all their Lord was a Jew. Helen may call herself by that title, but she is no such thing.
52. # 40
Birdi ,   Israel   (06.10.10)
You sure have it backwards. Israel's legitimacy as a State has always depended on how it would treat the indegenous Palestinians?? Israel's legitimacy is a State for the Jewish people & not the Palestinians. Rather than integrate itself in the Arab world.........thats exactly what the Jews dont want to do, as our heritage would fly out the window. There are more Jews arriving on Aliyah to Israel than Jews leaving Israel.
53. God has made no secret of His will:
The 11th Man ,   London   (06.10.10)
The Land of Israel (Eretz Yisroel) is given to the descendants of Abraham through Isaac (not Ishmael), through Jacob (not Esau). In other words, the Jewish people. All other claimants are spurious, and God will have the final word. Strength to Israel.
54. #45 David, but what was his crime to be killed for?!

yes Im sure it takes alot of "courage" to tell people to "return"(what a contradiction) to a land where they were persecuted, discriminated against, pogromed and gassed to death! What a "hero"...NOT
57. My Israeli friends...
Persian CAT   (06.10.10)
I might not have been "nice" to you guys for variety of reasons, but I do care for Israel - of course that does not include its Zionist regime and its policies of Apartheid. The fact is there is a big disconnect between the American people's attitude towards Israel and the US meek media and their brown nosing, and apologizing for its criminal policies. Here is the core issue, the American people have realized that unlike what they have been fed by Israel "lobby" and its agents in the congress, the media and that US administration the Zionist regime's policies of occupation, land grab and Apartheid hurt American interests. Thomas was not a born yesterday and I'm sure she knows exactly what she's talking about. Although I think Israel has the right to exist, but I DO NOT agree the Jews have the right to build and inhabit illegal settlements in the occupied territories. THOSE Jews must go back to live in Israel proper or be expelled AT ALL COST. nuffsaid.

59. Persian Cat - you have a good question?
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (06.10.10)
The IHH was well prepared and based on the interviews of its leaders and members on Turkish TV (which I follow as a native Turkish speaker) have been saying they were there on a GAZA or holy war. This organizational and the captain of the ship who did not peacefully surrender are responsible for the lives lost. Israel had a blockade that is recognized (not necessarily approved but recognized) by the world just like the blockade that S. Korea and USA has for N. Korea. Thre were some communnications between Israeli and Turkish authorities. According to Turkish news agencies the Turkish intelligence (MIT) told Israeli authorities that the ship would surrender with no resistance which has been proven to be wrong. The group that resisted violently to the IDF is legally responsible of the 9 deaths. The Imam Hatip schools in Turkey that radicalize young minds also bear some responsibility. The Erdogan government that encourages these acts of violence also bear some responsibility. After a week the Turkish intellectuals have already started to ask the difficult questions to the Turkish government. Yesterday Hurriyet's Ozdemir ince had an article where he explained the legal matters based on a retired diplomat's analysis and Milliyet's Semih Idiz wrote that Turkish government should be thankful of Netanhau for not wanting an international probe because legaly it would find Turky and IHH responsible. When you provoke someone to an imminent fight and get beaten or killed you can not blame anyone.
60. Persian Cat - I forgot to say one thing
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (06.10.10)
If the families of the victims of the Mavi Marmara sue the Captain of the ship, the IHH and the Turkish government for this incident at the ICC they would win and be awarded restitution. This is based on the words of a retired experienced Turkish diplomat.
